Flashback

It's supposed to be my first day of 7 grade in a new school and boy it's been a struggle. Last night I didn't sleep well because of a nightmare about Aliens freezing my entire family on a plane. It sucked I woke up pooring sweat and hyperventilating at about 3am so I haven't been back to sleep since. I hope school will go well maybe I will actually get lucky and make a real friend that won't run away because my sister decides to tell lies about me like everyone else.

I highly doupt I'll get that lucky though so I might as well forget that. It always ends up with the same outcome I make a friend I tell mommy and mommy tells my sister without realizing it then the next day I go see them in class they become a jerk and say that I shouldn't be friends with them anymore. So I rather just save myself heartache and pain by keeping quiet and everyone at a distance. It's easier that way and I don't have to do anything other than stay focused on passing this year.

" Jade are you getting out yet or not? Jade? Jade!" I was startled from my train of thought once I realized mommy raised her voice, " Oh sorry mommy I kinda dazed off and I guess I must've gotten stuck. Don't worry I'm right behind you." She looked at me to see if I was telling the truth or lieing but I guess she seen that it was no concern because she said, "Ok well then come on slow poke you and your sister is already pretty late as is you don't need to miss y'all's sign in time." I sighed and apologised again but was cut off when my sister decided to but in, " I'm sure she won't be missed either way it's not like she'll make any friends or anything else she's practically invisible mom." "Skye enough just because she's quite and shy doesn't mean she's invisible. Who knows she might make a friend or two here and you should be happy if she does I'm sure it would be better to have a friend who is human instead of just animals." Mommy scolded as I shut down my emotions. It was very hard to keep from crying but I didn't shed a single tear at least.

Well we're waiting for the guidance counselor to call us back when I was close to falling asleep again in one of the chairs in the lobby I jumped when I heard mine and my sisters names called I rushed to my feet and followed my mom and Skye to the councilors office and froze in place when the next thing I see as my head is down from where I was looking at the ground and my eyesight was looking at a calloused hand as the owner of said hand had a very calm and soft voice as he said, "Ah ha, you must be Mystery Jade Worthington the quiet, soft spoken and sweet girl, that your mom was telling me about over the phone on Friday last week. It's nice to meet you Jade I'm Mr. Hamilton I'm the guidance counselor and vice principal here at LMS." I looked up at him and shook his hand and said, " It's a pleasure meeting you too Sir thank you for allowing us to enroll today I can't wait to start class I'm looking forward to it." I gave him a small smile and leaned against the wall and started looking down at my feet again.

Mommy and Mr. Hamilton was talking about our schedules and grading system as well as our past grades and what we needed to work on improving until it was almost lunch time. and then they were done talking about it when they draged me back into the conversation as he asked me who I wanted to give me a tour of the school. He said, " Would like someone that you knew from Elementary school to walk you around or would you like to meet someone new that you've never met before to give you the tour of the school? It's up to you." I said, " I never got along with most of the kids I was around in elementary school but I always enjoy meeting new people, so I rather meet someone new please if that's ok." He looked at me with concern and worry in his eyes and I kinda felt bad for not giving him anything else to go off of other than that. He looked at me and then to my mom a couple times but decided not to ask further as he decided to change the subject. "Yeah yes that's fine I actually have a person in mind that I think you'll get along with and become great friends with hopefully, she's a really nice girl and she is kinda a new student as well she moved here from Indiana a couple months ago. Her name is Jane she's the same age as you I think." He smiled at me and I said, " Ooo, she sounds like a really nice person I can't wait to meet her I hope we'll get along." I smiled and he said, "I'm sure y'all will y'all both seem like y'all would be a good match and she'll have almost all of the same classes as you except for your band class in 6 period during that time she'll be in arts and humanities." he started to dial a number on the phone and he asked for Jane to come to his office because he'd like her to meet someone and show them around once he hung up the phone he looked at me and said. "Alrighty then as soon as she gets here you can be dismissed and I will need to talk to your mom and Skye for a bit but your all set so if you need anything feel free to come and talk to me whenever you need help or anything ok." I smiled and said, " Thank you sir I really appreciate it thank you so much and thank you mommy I love you and I hope you have a wonderful day, please be careful at your new job Okie dokie." We all heard a knock on the door and I turned to it and stopped dead in my tracks as I watched the door open slowly as a girl walked in she had black and white Tennis shoes, a pair of mix matching socks, holy type caprese with the holes only below the knees, a pink and blue bracelet on her left hand and a red bracelet on her right hand that said "red ribbon week" on it in white, a brown Aire postal hoodie on and her hair was brown with a little bit of blonde in it pulled back in a ponytail. She was really pretty and her smile was very bright but she seemed like she was also concerned about being there.

Mr. Hamilton greeted her and said, " Ah Jane thank you for coming in, how are you?" Jane said, " It's not like I had much of an option Mr. Hamilton Mrs. Scawlf told me that you wanted to see me but I'm doing well how about you?" he chuckled, " That's very true and I'm glad you listened because I wanted you to help this girl here find her way around the school. Her name is Mystery Jade Worthington but most people call her Jade she is very shy around her pears but hopefully y'all can become good friends by the end of the day I think y'all will be a good match for each other." Jane let out a sigh of relief and I snickered a little bit I thought it was adorable she must've heard it because for a second she squinted her eyes but decided to laugh a little as she said, " You had me worried there for a moment sir I thought I was in trouble or something but I'd be happy to show her around and I'm sure we'll be great friends in the end. I hope you have a good day." I relaxed a little after she was done talking I gave mommy a hug and then we started to leave his office. As we finally got out of his room and the door shut behind us I decided to break the silence by saying, " I'm sorry I laughed a minute ago I just couldn't help it." my voice was soft but she seemed to have heard every word, because she answered back with, " It's ok it didn't bother me it was kinda cute, I'm actually kinda surprised that you started talking first considering Mr Hamilton said you were shy mostly towards your fellow pears and all." I smiled and said, " I'm not exactly shy I just don't like getting to close to people just for them to get taken or scared away not long after I think of them as a friend. Oh by the way I'm Jade it's very nice to meet you." I reached out my hand and was hoping she'd accept it and she did and said, " It's very nice to meet you too I'm Jane and I hope we will become best friends. That's a first I've never had introduced myself like that before honestly." We both started laughing at that. Once we were done laughing I said, "my apologies I tend to be known as a very strange kid for a lot of things." she chuckled and said, " Your not alone there I'm pretty weird aswell but I hope I'll get to know you more and maybe you'll think of me as a friend instead of ally." I said, " Honestly I think we are already friends I mean you seem to be really kind, careing, trusting and very unique and intriguing I would love to be your friend if you'd like me to be that is but it's up to you okie dokie Jane?"

Our day went by rather quickly with exception of lunch time. It seemed to take forever we entered the lunchroom and walked around the tables to get in line when Jane stopped to tell that I can sit at her table with her and her friends. "That's our table that we're going to be eating at." She said as she was pointing at a table full of 9 girls and I went from smiling to stone faced really quick. I said " Ok thank you for letting me know." I tried playing it off as nothing was wrong but inside my head I was freaking the heck out.
