After 8 months had passed Richard was back to full strength and the trio of Mr. Stien jason and richard had managed to hunt dow 36 different color shift opossums. The made the discovery that the higher the level of the opossum the larger it was and the more skin it had.
they now had enough skins to hide the small home from one angle and built as manny defenses as the could from all the other angles.
When they made the trip to the hardware store jason had managed to grab quite a few nails. so instead of going back for planks the decided to chop down trees and fashion their own.
Which turned out to be much sturdier than planks because they were solid wood. but making planks from cut down trees was very time-consuming and energy-consuming. So they could only make a hundred in Two weeks which was a pretty good amount, but they needed quite a few in order to fortify one side of the base.
it took them nearly six months to complete. so now that they had nearly made the house impenetrable from all sides except one. of course the side that wasn't impenetrable was hidden from sight. all of the Fortified sides were 8 inches thick and 8 feet tall and interwoven for greater structural support. "that's weird i wonder what that glow is do yoy see it jason? " Richard asked in confusion. The handmade planks had a weird glow and felt dense and heavy compared to the uncut wood.
After pondering the glow planks, it was evident they wouldn't figure it out now. so the need to focus on the next step of there survival in this wasteland they used to call home. They decided to look for armor based creature crafting materials to try to make better armor to survive higher level encounters. The trio had only encountered a few creatures that could be used to make armor. Most of those creatures were hard to kill and the corpses that they left often attracts higher level creatures than those slain.
It was as if the dead creature was use as fuel for evolution of the creature eating it and would sometimes take on specific traits of the creature consumed.
"do you think we should eat some of the creature flesh as well?" jason asked while they watch a small squirrel evolve in front of them. it had yellow cracked but normal fur before it ate the dead creature. Now it was the color of rolled steel and seemed slower. the dead creature was a steel colored Amarillo that jason and richard found badly hurt and finished the job. The brothers began beating it over the head with the rebarb untill it look unconscious then stabbed it in the soft underbelly with the rebarb like a spear. The two then took its steel scales and decided to watch what came to eat it.
