Treasure

After pushing themselves through the increasingly small crack. Richard and Jason found themselves inside a huge cavern alight by many bioluminescent plants like mushrooms and trees.

The ceiling of the cave was so high the trees that were hundreds of feet high came nowhere near. The trees were of many colors but most looked like pine trees from the surface.

Alone in the middle of this cave sood a tree that resembled an oak but was twice the size of a school bus at its base. Every portion of this tree gave off an insane amount of light.

It had wat looked to be fruit in the glowing buds of its branches. The fruit was not glowing but it had an strong fragrance to it.

As they approached tbe tree Jason had an insatiable urge to clime the tree and eat the fruit but Richard held him back.

Richard didn't know if the fruit was good or bad but he felt it was better to air on the side of caution than to not.

"Look dude there's a reason you can smell fast food restaurants from down the street. that is how they draw you in. I have a feeling this tree is no different."

Jason although dis not feel the same he understood Richards reasoning and knew he only meant well. So Jason followed his brothers concern.

After getting close enough Jason spotted a large Red box not unlike the ones they had dug from the ground near there fathers home before it collapsed into the hole.

Instead of informing Richard right away he decided to open it himself , meanwhile Richard was walking amongst the pines and scanning anything he deemed necessary.

Although the scanner didn't offer much help most of the time it picked up a small item that grew off of one of the trees infact this was the only thing that had scanned and gave a message other than UN-scannable.

All it read was *unknown companion *.

Jason had turned the box on its side and noticed it and what looked to be a fingerprint scanner in the shape of a lock the kept the box closed. He felt there was no harm in trying to scan his finger so he toughed it. He felt a prick on the finger he used and it soon started to bleed.

Unlike what he thought the tech he touched was not for fingerprint but for DNA.

Suddenly the box opened as the lock fell and light shown in the boz to illuminate the contents.

Jason's eyes grew wide with glee as hope had entered his heart" this ought to come in handy he thought.....
