"Could I sit with you at lunch?" He asked.
"I would hate to have losers like you to join me, sorry." She replied.
Everyone called her the high school Queen. She was the prettiest and smartest in Beverly Hills High school. What she thought of as cool was cool, and anything, not her type, was considered wrong. Her popularity was undeniable, and so were her standards.
She owned many cars but drove a Porsche that she called 'baby'. She always wore a Ruby necklace that her mother had gifted her before dying. She was the boss; the ruler of high school. She was called Ruby.
Her sarcasm was sweet as honey yet had sufficient poison to crush the other's heart. Her father had perceived her to believe that no one was good enough for her. Rumors had spread of him being wealthy, yet a suppressive man. He had refused his daughter from enjoying the little joys of life.
Ruby had a few chosen ones; the ones that made her look better.
"Ruby, look at what I got for you! I brought you friendship bands," said Olivia, who was her so-called BFF. She was the person who knew most about Ruby.
Ruby hugged her and said, "God! gimme before you steal them back."
They both looked at each other seriously for a second, and then laughed hysterically.
Ruby had many admirers, but most of them didn't care much about her bitter personality, all they desired was the fame.
There was a person amongst them who secretly admired her. His name was Louis. He was one of that was one of the poorest, yet smartest children in the school. He had the best looks but the worst car, in fact, he took a bus to school.
He stood in front of his locker witnessing the moment when Olivia had given Ruby her favorite friendship bracelets. For him, looking at Ruby's smile was like winning student of the year.
To be honest, her smile was manipulating. Her lips would stretch to the sides and her glimmery teeth would sparkle. It would force the guys to gaze and the girls to envy her.
Olivia caught Louis staring at Ruby so she said, "Looks like you have another admirer."
Ruby turned around and looked at him and then looked back at Olivia then said, "Seriously! He's not good enough. All of these high school freaks are unpredictable."
"But you've never tried. I know your father has made it off-bounds to like absolutely anyone, but don't label others with your inexperienced perspective. Louis is a nice person. The only problem with him is that he is poor, other than that, he's perfect."
Ruby looked at the ceiling the entire time that Olivia was explaining to her about a normal highschooler. Once Olivia was done talking, Ruby looked at her Rolex watch then said, "I'm running late for my history lesson, but I'll catch you up later."
"Ruby, listen all I'm saying is that you should--"
Ruby said cutting her off in the middle. "Yes, and it sounds hideous and disgusting. This talk makes me want to gag."
She grabbed her books from the locker, and whilst rushing towards the class she said, "Bye Olivia, I'll call you once I'm free."
Olivia rolled her eyes and said, "Bye Queen."
Olivia and Ruby had had multiple conversations such as this, and they always ended with Ruby coming off with an excuse to end the conversation.
