Chapter 4 _ A Great Blow

"What !?" Ava said surprisingly.

"Do you think that Uncle Dimitri is behind all this !?"

" No!? I mean maybe , I don't know anything for sure. But we have to stay alert. If uncle did this , he must have his reasons. " I said though I did not completely believe it.

"And what reason must that be !? " Ava said in a sarcastic manner.

"Listen Ava I am not sure what this means but we have to be careful. Do not tell uncle anything about this. Keep this a secret for now. "

" Yeah. But if Uncle Dimitri has anything to do with it ..."

" Let's not think about that right now" I said. Honestly I just didn't want to think about it. I trusted Uncle Dimitri above all and thinking about his betrayal made me feel like my heart was being shattered into a million pieces.

"For now let's just go back to the hospital." I said. I tried my best to hide what I was feeling but who was I kidding. Ava is my oldest friend and she could recognise my sad face anytime.

On reaching the hospital we went to Dimitri. He asked where we had been.

"Had some unfinished business in the office. " I said. I could see he looked worried. Actually 'fear' would be the right term. If he was the one who ordered the guy dead then it means he is not my ally anymore. He wanted to destroy the only clue that we had in my parent's case and I don't know if I could forgive him for that.

The Night Hunters were thinking that I was the one who made the trap for them . But Ava talked to them personally putting an end to their doubts. 

Now I had to find evidences. I was really hurt and was hoping that Dimitri had nothing to do with the attack. But the evidences said otherwise.

The blood sample was sent to Dylan my trusted forensic expert.

He checked the blood sample and tried matching the sample with all in our records.

[In the headquarters, Elena's Personal Training Room ]

{AVA POV}

Elena was being really impatient. She kept hitting the punching bag and ignored me. She was like that when she was planning something really wicked or when she was really angry. She would stop only when that stupid man would arrive with the report.

Just then someone knocked. I was really hoping it was that idiot.

And guess who it is...

{ELENA POV}

"Dylan finally !? What on earth took so long !? ", Ava said sarcastically.

" Leave him be !!" I said impatiently. I couldn't bear the wait for another second. "Tell me , did it match !?" I asked.

"Yeah !! But first let me tell you Ava that it takes time to match blood samples , if you don't believe I would be more than happy to teach you forensics !"

" Well I don't need that , I could always just punch you until you learn to speed things up !! "

" Shut up both of you or I'll rip your throat out !!" I said angrily.

I know I was being rude to my friends but I needed them to understand what I am feeling right now.

" Yea it matched ."

" Who is it !? "

" It's Matt Peterson ".

Suddenly I felt like I was just stabbed in the heart. I was hurt but I never experienced betrayal. I was betrayed by the man who raised me and made me what I am. But then again I put up the emotionless face.

"Did you check it properly !?"

"Elena , it's my work , I practically do it everyday. " Dylan said.

Dylan was from the same orphanage as me and Ava and he was the third and the last person who I trusted and cared about.

I knew I could trust him so I took out the watch from my pocket.

"You are gifting me a watch !? Honey there are more important things to discuss now !!" Dylan said.

" Self-centerd psychopath " Ava said in an irritated tone.

" Have you seen this watch before !?" I asked.

" Yeah...No" Dylan said.

" It belongs to someone we know"

Ava said.

" Matt !? It belongs to Matt Peterson ? The blood guy !?"

" Blood guy !! You need to work on your nicknames " Ava said.

Those two would never stop bickering so I just ignored them everytime.

"As you know the blood guy is uncle's right hand man. "

" Yeah I know. I work with y'all too you know !!" Dylan said. He is a little childish but he is a brother to me also a genius so I'd rather keep him with us.

"Wait that means ..." Dylan said trying to slove the puzzle in his mind.

" That means uncle sent him there to kill the guy who apparently is the only clue to her parent's case. " Ava said.

" Or he just went there without Dimitri's order" Dylan said. He knew what father meant to me and he did not want me to get hurt.

"Well you know what Matt is like. He never does anything until uncle asks him to " Ava said. She knew it would hurt me but she just wanted to keep me safe.

" Well maybe he is not like we think he is. " Dylan said.

" We don't know anything till now. But we have to be careful. If father sent him there then... well just be careful. " I said. I put the watch back into my pocket and left.
