Chapter 22

When Alice woke up, she imminently got up and put a smile on her face, then went to go check on the supplies only to find out that about 70% of it was gone. She inhaled trying not to scream and ran to Beau and shook him awake, "T-the supplies"

Beau rubbed his eyes and saw that Alice was about to cry and followed her to the supplies. After they say they went to wake up Isaac and Apollo quickly, but when they came back Alice said that Apollo was gone. Isaac scoffed and said "Geuss Apollo wasn't really on our side after all" Alice then jabbed him in the side with her elbow "We don't know that!"

Isaac rubbed his arm and then pointed at paw prints, "Then why do these look like wolf paw prints?"

"The only wolf near here was Apollo, he was also the only wolf knowing where we are, so if it wasn't him then it's someone he hired" Alice was about to protest but then put her finger to her chin, thinking. "That...would make sense though, he is the only wolf we know" They all stood there in silence, then Isaac quickly covered up Maeve "And Maeve wouldn't come all the way back just to steal the supplies, right?" Alice's ears perked up quickly "Wait, Maeve is a fox though Isaac"

Isaac nodded then made an invisible circle with his fingers " She can turn into a wolf, can't she?" Alice narrowed her eyes "Only me and Apollo knew about her amulet though Isaac" Isaac quickly but calmly said "She already told me as her future husband" but Isaac was panicking in his head. Alice and Beau looked at each other and shrugged "Whatever you say Isaac, but we'll ask Apollo if he comes back until then we should go gather more supplies, you and Beau can go hunt and I'll make everything else"

"I'm too small to hunt so it's better if I stay here and out of the way"

Beau defiantly agreed with her because he didn't want the one girl that he loved to get hurt.

So, before Isaac could argue Beau dragged him off to get ready and Alice went to the room where the tree had supplied some VERY handy vines and giant leaves, with sap that was as strong as super glue. Once the boys finally left Alice began to make stronger baskets with tops and straps so they're easier to hold and carry, she then began to make waterproof bags made from giant leaves and sap all around it to make sure no water could get in.

She spent all day doing this while the boys were out hunting, they all took breaks here and there though but then they went straight back to work.

The boys had caught a total of five dead rabbits and seven dead ravens because Alice asked for them to kill smaller animals, so they are easier to cook mentally and physically, the boys don't know how to cook right, and Alice loves animals.

Alice rarely ate meat but because she's a fox she still had to, but the guys went out again before dark and left Alice to cook and clear her head.

Alice first prayed and said, "Please forgive me rabbits for my friend and probably the entire world is in danger, I hope you can forgive me and my friends, I will, of course, bury your bones and skin". Alice began to prepare and cook the rabbits first to get them out of the way, she loved rabbits just not as food, but she knew that the three of them needed to survive. She first skinned the rabbits and took their organs and eyes out, then cut up the meat into thick slabs and started cooking the slabs.

Alice was used to blood and guts because when she was younger her dad used to be a rabbit farmer and her mother used to be a butcher, so she can stomach any gut-related things, surprising for someone as shy and small as her. She put some seasoning on them like salt, pepper, parsley, and lemon pepper. Alice began feather-plucking the dead ravens and cleaned, took their organs out, and cleaned up the bodies. Then she shredded up three of them and put them in a plastic container for sandwiches.

She put two aside for bait or trade for the road, then tore apart the last two to make jerky with them. After all that she put the jerky in the song and put them on a bamboo stand that was for drying meat, then she cleaned up and washed her hands. The boys came back, and they all ate dinner and Alice went to her room to get undressed for a bath, but Beau peeked in and saw her, they both stared at each other for a second, and then finally Beau covered his eyes "S-sorry!! Ill g-go"

Alice quickly put her shirt on and grabbed Beau's hand "I-it's ok, don't worry about it I-I uh might need help washing my back and Maeve used to do it but clearly she isn't here s-so you're the next person I fully trust"

Beau's earshot up "Y-you trust me to see you n-naked?"

Alice's face turned red "N-not like you're seeing the front i-idiot"

Beau quickly turned "I-I don't want to see your body, I-i mean I bet it's nice- I just don't-what I mean is-" Alice giggled and shushed him. "I know what you mean dummy" He nervously laughed and she led him to the bathroom and they were both blushing.
