The trip to Eun-ha's apartment was uneventful. Yoongi assisted her into his car, and didn't stop her when she adjusted the passenger seat into a reclining position. She closed her eyes and he assumed that she was drifting into sleep. They were about five minutes away from her home, when she spoke, startling him.
"You're different tonight," she said in a drunken slur.
"How so?"
She shifted in her seat, still laying back, but watching him as he drove. He stared at her briefly, but focused on the road.
"Nicer," she mumbled, "Tolerant?"
He chuckled at her choice of words. "Tolerant? Why tolerant of all things?"
"Weeks ago you would have snapped at me for teasing you. Today you ignored it," she said between yawns.
"It wouldn't be effective to reprimand you when you're intoxicated," he smirked at her form which was still in a crouched position.
"I am NOT intoxicated," she frowned, "I'll have you know that I am sobering up rather quickly."
"I'm sure you are," he reassured her. "We're here."
She grunted in response, and sleepily began to gather her bag. Yoongi knowing she was not as sober as she claimed she was, walked around the car to provide an arm to lean on. She took his offered arm, and looked up at him. She frowned at him again.
"I'm only taking your arm because it would be rude to reject your offer," she huffed.
He didn't take offense, and not so gently pulled her towards her apartment. She felt herself feeling unbalanced, and leaned onto his arm for support. She rested her head to stop the ground from spinning. He laughed at her for trying so hard to seem unaffected by the alcohol, yet failing miserably.
"Yoongi?"
"Yeah?"
They approached her front door. He softly leaned her against the wall to retrieve her keys so that she could enter before he left. He was still digging through her purse when she pulled on his shirt sleeve. He looked down at her, and froze in the process. She looked no different from any time he spent time with her. Her eyes were glazed due to her drinking, but she had an expression he had not witnessed. She looked vulnerable and innocent.
Each moment they spent together his view of her was as a strong, ball-busting manager. Often he thought of her as a strong willed woman that didn't back down from a challenge, and often to his annoyance. However, now with her big doe eyes looking up at him, he only saw a young, beautiful woman.
Realizing where his thoughts were heading, he staggered back from her, and pulled out the keys. He shoved the key into the lock and opened the door hurriedly.
"Go on in," he impatiently gestured towards the opened apartment.
"What's wrong?" she worriedly asked, mistaking his impatience for anger.
"Nothing," he sighed. He didn't mean to snap at her, but he did not like where his mind had taken a turn. "It's late, and we have to assist Jin and Seo with final arrangements tomorrow."
"That's right," she leaned her head back against the wall, and smiled dreamily, "One more day and they'll be married. I'm so happy they were able to resolve things with the media and get to where they're at."
He silently watched her animated face. She opened her eyes when he didn't comment. Finding that he hadn't left but stood staring, she nervously licked her lip.
Yoongi's eyes followed her tongue as it retreated back into her mouth. He closed his eyes in frustration. 'What the hell is wrong with you?' he scolded himself. 'She's your manager, younger than you and frequently your enemy. Get her to go inside, and leave, now.'
"Yoongi, I'm sorry for always giving you a hard time about unnie," she apologized. He was surprised that she was expressing sorrow towards something they managed to avoid while working together.
She pushed away from the wall, and stood in front of him. "I know you love her like a sister. I promise never to imply anything else."
She grabbed his hand, and linked their pinkies, and locked the promise. He stared in bafflement at the childlike promise.
"Friends?" she giggled while still keeping his fingers linked.
He couldn't muster up any words, and nodded in agreement. Accepting his response, she pulled away from him, and walked into her apartment. She turned around, and sleepily waved goodbye to him before closing the door.
***The next day***
Seo-yeon and Eun-ha worked diligently with the wedding planner to make sure the seating was perfect, and that the decor was prepped for the following day. They spent the entire morning, and half of the afternoon double checking that items were either set up, or in the process. Jin, Yoongi, and Jungkook met with Bang PD to check with security, and PR.
Each group had duties that they attended to for the day, and planned to meet at the venue before heading out for their homes.
"Everything is set!" Eun-ha excitedly said. The wedding planner would stay with the crew to finish setting up, but the wedding was complete.
"Yes," Seo agreed with a bright smile. "The others should be here in a few minutes."
"We're here," Jin called to the two women.
"Security is ready, but PR did a great job and steering the press elsewhere," Jungkook chimed in.
Yoongi nodded in agreement, while avoiding meeting Eun-ha's eyes. He had left her apartment confused. The sudden attraction he felt towards her, and the contact she had initiated unnerved him. Spending so much time resenting her, and expecting to end their time together with some sort of disagreement or irritating each other in some way, he never anticipated that he would find her attractive.
He spend the night convincing himself that he had drank and the alcohol had clouded his judgement temporarily. No way could he find the young woman to his liking. He repeated to himself that it was alcohol induced, and that she was still the same annoying kid, he vowed that he would not make things awkward by avoiding her.
Now that they were gathered, he wondered if she remembered her what she had promised. Did she recall the childish plea to be friends? Would she remember that he had meekly agreed?
He forced himself to glance her way. She was laughing at something Jungkook was saying. Her head was thrown back and she was leaning onto Seo for support. The others laughed along to the conversation. Eun-ha continued to giggle, then directed her eyes towards Yoongi.
She smiled softly at him in welcome. 'She doesn't remember,' he thought disappointingly. He frowned realizing that he had secretly hoped she'd remember. His eyes remained on her as she laughed and smiled beautifully at the others. His eyes widened in shock as his mind once again took notice of her stunning face. Her laughter didn't irk him as usual, but was being comprehended as music to his ears.
Her eyes met his once again, and her smile broadened. His heart made a slight leap and he felt his mouth go dry.
