The flashing lights from the numerous journalists snapped one by one in an overwhelming speed as Yoongi, Eun-ha and Lovee entered the front of the meeting hall. The trio greeted each reporter with a timid smile and awkward wave given the situation. Yoongi stood between the two women which left each reporter to question what news would be shared.
Jungkook, Jin and Seo-yeon, along with the manager stood in the back of the crowd. Jin and Seo-yeon had been briefly caught up on the situation. They expressed concern for their friends and the possibility of the relationship deteriorating due to the lie. What respect and friendship that had been built over the past month could become strained. Yoongi had reassured them that he would do what he could to make sure that they would come out unharmed.
Staring at him now, they held hands in a silent prayer that their friends would be left unscathed. Jungkook leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, and grin on his face. Bang PD had explained the scenario that would be painted for the media, but Jungkook recalled the intimate scene he had happened to walk upon.
He broached the topic to Yoongi the evening they had been told of the news that would be shared to the media. Once dismissed to go about their tasks, Jungkook had followed him to his studio. Making sure no one had followed them, Jungkook began his playful interrogation.
"Hyung, why didn't you and Eun-ha inform PD-nim that you're really dating?"
"We're not," Yoongi sighed. He plopped himself onto the couch in the room and glared as Jungkook pulled a chair closer to him.
"From what I saw, it looked like you were dating."
Yoongi didn't respond. He lay, staring at the ceiling with one arm strung across his forehead. It was obvious Kook that there was more to the situation than Yoongi was willing to share.
"What exactly did I walk into?"
"Nothing."
"Hyung?" Jungkook waited until he was sure he had Yoongi's attention. Accepting a muffled, "what" as full attention, he continued speaking. "You can tell me what's really happening. Everyone else isn't aware of your feelings for Eun-ha, but I saw it all. You obviously like her. I would keep this between us, although I think you should let Jin hyung know too."
"I do like her," he sighed. He sat up and rested his chin on his hands in a thinking posture. With very little pressure from Kook, he recounted what had occurred from the day Eun-ha became his manager to the scandal. The room was quiet after he completed retelling the events that lead to their situation now.
"Did you like her before you left for the military?"
"I think I may have," he laughed. "We got into a fight before I left, and all I could think about was if she was ok. If she knew I was sorry for being so short tempered. If she knew..."
"Knew what?" Jungkook asked when Yoongi remained silent, not finishing his thought.
"That I didn't like Seo-yeon," he glanced up at Jungkook, who did not seem at all surprised.
"With the exception of Jin and Seo-yeon, we suspected you had a small crush on her."
"Yeah, it was just a momentary infatuation. Eun-ha was the first person to vocalize it. I never understood why it bothered me so much that she still thought I harbored anything more than friendship for Seo, but when I went to serve, I had time to think."
"You liked her," Jungkook giggled. "Everyone worried about you two, but it looked like aggressive flirting."
Yoongi scoffed, "You have a strange way of looking at things."
"Does she like you?"
"She hasn't confessed or anything like that. Some things she's said imply that she does."
"She didn't reject your kiss," Jungkook grinned at his annoyed hyung.
"No," Yoongi agreed, "She doesn't want to ruin our careers. Which is why I leaped at this chance. Now I'm not sure what's going to happen. It didn't work out like I hoped. I don't want her to think my feelings are going to be for show."
Jungkook didn't know how to comfort his friend, but kept him company. Now, he grinned watching them. He had enough faith in Yoongi, even if he didn't himself. The two cared and respected each other, and would do have each other's backs.
The room hushed as the trio sat down. Yoongi spoke first.
"Good evening. Thank you for attending today. Given the images and rumors spreading regarding myself and Miss Song, we wished to clear up any misunderstandings."
The room filled with murmurs from the press, and flashes from eager photographers' cameras.
"The night of Jin's wedding, a picture was taken of Miss Song holding onto my arm in the parking lot. The encounter was then spun into a romantic rumor to inconvenience of each of us," he glanced at Eun-ha who met his eyes. He expected to see hesitation, but she surprised him by giving him one of the sweetest smiles he'd ever seen brighten her face. Feeling her encouragement through that small gesture, he carried on. "The rumors about Miss Song and I are simply that. A rumor."
Reporters began to shout questions at the three of them. Lovee kept a fake smile plastered onto her face. She hated having to play into this charade, but didn't want to step on the toes of the CEO of Big Hit, and especially trigger Yoongi's anger. She resented Eun-ha for stealing what she felt was her rightful spot in this play.
"Suga!" An impatient reporter shouted, "Then how do you explain the picture? You two were very intimate in the image."
"I can explain that," Lovee offered. The reporters hushed in awe at the beautiful smile she graced them with. "Suga had just shared some exciting news with me, and thinking we were out of distance of the media, I may have acted out without thinking."
"News? Did he confess?" The noise escalated, and the crowd grew excited with that possibility. Lovee's smile broadened, and considered changing the script. As if sensing this, Yoongi raised his hand to draw back their attention and clearly spoke.
"I confessed my feelings for someone else." The crowd whispered among themselves in speculation, slightly confused by the direction of the topic. Yoongi gently reached for Eun-ha's hand, and kept it clasped in his. They exchanged smiles, and faced the mass of press.
"Whoever took the picture didn't include those of Eun-ha. We had just shared the news with Miss Song that we were officially dating."
The rate of pictures being taken escalated as the couple grinned at one another while still holding hands. Lovee dug her nails into her clasped hands underneath the table. The press was loving the "lovey-dovey" couple, while she had to play along.
"Yes, I was so excited that unnie had found love with someone as great as Suga. You can only imagine how embarrassed I was that something as innocent as me hugging my unnie's boyfriend in welcome became an idol dating scandal." Lovee pouted prettily which caused the media avoid her eyes in guilt.
"Eun-ha," one reported called, "There are lines to be drawn between a manager and their clients. How could you cross that threshold? What do you have to say as a manager?"
It was the question and judgement they all had anticipated. Jungkook, Seo-yeon and Jin stood in the back with different emotions. Seo-yeon and Jin grew frustrated at the aggressive reporter and the helplessness they felt for not being able to defend their friends. Jungkook clenched his fist in irritation at the reporters. He knew the question was coming, but it still infuriated him.
Yoongi's face shifted to the surprise of the reporters. His smile was now gone, and replaced with a stormy shadow, aimed at the reporter that asked that question. Eun-ha squeezed his hand, drawing his attention to her. The crowd took note of the gesture, and was flabbergasted at the affect she had on him. The dark fury in his eyes dimmed, and he reluctantly nodded at her, giving her the floor.
"As a manager, I did what was right, and placed Yoongi's needs first," they remained still, and were amazed at how she intimately addressed him, "Bang PD and I made arrangements to have Manager Sejin work with Yoongi, while I would be with Jungkook. My relationship with him would not affect his work and vise versa. As far as how I 'allowed' myself to cross that line?" She once again turned to meet Yoongi's eyes. "I was difficult to distance myself from him."
"Who confessed first?"
"I did," Yoongi declared, never taking his eyes off Eun-ha. "She's Seo-yeon's bestfriend, so we were always around each other. Anyone that knows us would tell you that we bickered like children, and would have never seen this coming. But I've enjoyed every single argument. I even missed her when I was serving. It was impossible not to fall for her."
The crowd cheered, taken back by his declaration. It was so out of character for him that they couldn't believe this was actually happening. Yoongi's gaze on Eun-ha was that of a man madly in love. There was very little to question.
Jungkook giggled. Jin and Seo-yeon glanced his way in confusion. Yoongi's confession had not been planned. They were to clear up the picture with a simple statement of dating, and then share the change in management. Bang PD told them there was no need to answer any other questions if they chose not to.
"Kook, what's going on?" Jin questioned.
"Was that planned?" Seo-yeon wondered aloud.
"Definitely not planned," Jungkook laughed, "But highly effective."
The three of them watched as Yoongi stood to escort Eun-ha out of the room to the chagrin of the media. Lovee meekly followed behind.
Yoongi never removed his hand from hers. He held her hand even after the were away from the mob of reporters. Lovee was the first to speak.
"If I didn't know any better, I would think this was real," she whined, "Yoongi, you can let go of her. No one is around. I should apologize for all this."
"Apologize for what?" Jungkook surprised them. He suddenly appeared with Jin and Seo-yeon right behind him.
"For grabbing onto his arm at the wedding, and not considering who could be lurking. Now he's stuck pretending to be with unnie," she dramatically sighed. "I'm sorry you two. I can't imagine how it must feel to have to pretend to have feelings for someone you don't care for."
"I'm not pretending," Yoongi firmly stated. Eun-ha's cheeks tinted pink, and she bit her lip shyly. Lovee's mouth comically drooped open in shock. Seo-yeon and Jin grinned in amazement, even if thrown off by this second confession. Jungkook's grin widened in pride for Yoongi's ability to admit to everyone that he was in love with Eun-ha. 'Today is only the beginning,' he thought to himself. Tomorrow suddenly seemed beaming with possibilites.
