CH3V3 "Parting Ways || The Search"

Glados had been driving for quite a while, following the GPS beacon that had been activated within the Test Subject. For a while, she was able to track him via road, until he suddenly vanished into a radiation hotzone.

"That moron...What is he up to now...?" Glados gently grumbled. She would be without any capacity to prepare herself or warn Grayson of danger. Whatever he is doing had better be worth the trouble.

She kicks the vehicle in gear and starts making for Grayson's last known direction...

An internal giegermeter began ticking intensely, until it began to urgently warn Glados to slow down-

As she did,a traffic stuffed highway was ahead, nothing the Aperture brand Striker couldnt handle, though the environment was worrisome.

"Gl-dos,*FZZZZZZZZZZZZZ*is Gra*static* reporting in,*static*?"

"White?! White can you read me?" She asked-

The signal was lost as quickly as it was found, but it was an affirmative sign the radios could still get signal out,but there was an obvious deadzone they had to communicate through.

A perfect place to take shelter from the incoming guerilla forces, however only brielfy. As the vehicle crumbled rusty cars like dry cookies,Glados had to suffice with using the peephole ,which wasnt a very promising way to see danger...

"WARNING:Radiation storm approaching! Seek cover immediately"

Glados pulls into a relatively clear tunnel with a glass road,as blue ashes began to rain from the sky...

Glados gets out, observing the ashes as they fell.

///WARNING:FALLOUT NOT SAFE WHEN AIRBORN. AVOID DIRECT CONTACT AT ALL COSTS///

"Lovely, nothing like a good radiation storm for a perfect day..."

Glados looks into the tunnel, then out into the fallout, before climbing back into the striker and beginning to travel into the tunnel, which quickly turned into a maze...

For hours she roamed the underground labyrinth...

Radio chatter was heard at a resting point, followed by an armored vehicle passing distantly..

More soldiers in almost space-age armor brandishing the Black Mesa logo began patrolling, scouring the perimeter for her..

Glados shuts off the engine after backing into a tight spot, tight enough to hide the logos of the vehicle, and hopefully make the vehicle seem abandoned. As silence began to take over, the only audible noise was her own internals running very quietly.

Soldiers pass the Striker, bearing only the remotest of interest, after about an hour the soldiers began investigating the seemingly abandoned vehicle..

"So what do you think such a fresh vehicle would be doing this far down?" One of the soldiers asked.

"Maybe it hasn't been touched? I mean look at it,prime condition, fresh paint, untouched by nature.." Another went on..

"Hey,Helios squad, when you stop standing around and chattering like this is some reality TV show,we need you on the surface. We have fresh tracks. Someone has been here and they aren't far."

"Got it Alpha,we're on the move." The leading soldier responds, signing to wrap things up and get moving..

The squad leaves with little more investigation...

Glados starts the Striker, and slowly pulls out, taking the opposite direction,to run headfirst into another squad...

They immediately raise their weapons and fire,as Glados gunned through the team to make for an exit. As rounds skipped off the Striker,Glados turns the corner and begins putting distance between herself and the units.

A rapid beep emits,an alarm Glados set up when Grayson was in a communicable area.

"Grayson! Grayson can you hear me?! There are Black Mesa forces all over the place! What the hell did you do?!" Glados shouts into the mic.

"Oh thank the gods you can hear me down here! Where are you?'

Glados pulls into a garage, and shuts the engine off as another squad passes.

"A form of garage. Considering you can hear me,you're either close,or this facility has phenomenal radiation-proofing." Glados said, keeping an eye out as she began to have a few breaths of relief that Grayson was still alive.

"Whatever the case,it's great to hear your voice,Glados. I'm not sure if the Striker's scanner is any good, but could you update my map..?"

"No,unfortunately. We're very lucky to be talking right now. They...caught me trying to explore this facility. I'd reccommend you haul your test-loving head to my location. Ill be using a proximity device, and will contact you when you are closer."

Glados cuts communication for now.

"He can handle himself, you know. If you cant kill him, what makes you think they'll be able to catch him?" Her inner voice reasoned.

Glados sighs..

"I know. But science is unpredictable. He. Is unpredictable,Dangerous even. What if he is caught?" Glados asked.

'Wow. Now you wanna call yourself worried? Have you forgotten the person you've made love to?"

"That was a test and you damn well know it-" Glados argued

"As true as that is,allow me to remind you why you made him your test subject."

"Are we sure this is a good time with enemies running amok?" Glados asked with uncertainty.

"Ugh...Grayson E White,Test Subject 76-10XT. This is a test subject that has a notable record in destruction, specifically killing you twice, destroying APERTURE equipment, even being a 'horrible person',and after the royal hell you put him through, after getting what you deserved, even helping you with a problem he caused when he could have escaped, abandoned you,and let the facility blow, and have freedom. I dunno about you,but I think you have the most loyal test subject in the roster. Dont assume he will get caught because you know he will escape regardless. You've let him go this far,let him navigate on his own and find you like he always does.'

Glados hated to admit it,loathed the concept, but that tiny voice was right. White was a killing machine. Her killing machine. He would survive because he hailed from Aperture Science no less.

That thought was enough to inspire a confident nod. Although she would really need to update her connection with her body, before the little voice did the talking for her.
