Sam Heart Vs. Luther Wild

-Back to the present-

"His personality isn't the same anymore Zhu. Ever since we brought him in, all he sees is remorse from the moment he gained that power." Lao mumbling stoically trying to not feel dejected.

"Is that why you want him to meet up with Sam? To see if he could fix Ern? Although they have similar powers Sir, that won't give us the confidence to think it will help him." Although the two were close to each other, the Sergeant had to still speak with formality towards Lieutenant General Lao.

"What else can we do?! The moment I saw Sam use that power in the first test, I knew this was a chance given to us. Even if Sam isn't aware of this power yet, he will soon. Do you think he'd be willing to go against someone like Ern too when he finds out just what we are planning? Our chance is now, Ern is like a son to me, Zhu."

"Fine." Having no choice but to comply, he fumbled with the list of ballots so once it was their turn to take one, Sam would pick Erns. Although in a normal test, this would be prohibited and most likely lead to deeper consequences, he was close with Lao so he would do it just this once. Besides, Zhu was also curious whether Sam would bring a change at all to Ern.

...

'This guy. What did he do just there?' Although the match had been concluded and it was on to another. Sam kept on replaying the enticing match in his head, as he tried to figure out what this Ern had done. Recalling that the movements he showed were very precise when dealing with his opponent, especially when you add that ability of his into the mix.

It's not normal to see someone instantly disappear in front of a crowd of tens of students and well-trained veterans.

'There's definitely something wrong with him...' He concluded.

As time went by, numerous duels had gone through as Soraya and Walter were able to sweep past their opponent cleanly advancing to the next round. The first few rounds were the easiest amongst the later ones, unless one were to be really unlucky, they would pass without a hitch. But if one were to lose during the first round, you would be given the lowest grade possible.

"Sam Heart against Luther Wild."

Hearing his name called out, it was now his turn to fight.

Walking towards the center of the field, he looked over to his opponent seeing that he was exuding confidence just by the look of his eyes. Although Sam was able to come out first during the Endurance Test, it only showed his potential with his body. It had no correlation towards his ability to fight another individual. It could be said that his only time fighting would be against an Ancient, but that only gave him bragging rights because he was unable to harm it in the slightest.

'Hmph. I could see just from his form that he's never fought anyone properly before. So much for a monster, guess it was all a fluke.' Being able to recognize Sams weak point, Luther had his guard lowered as he thought that this match was going to be easy and his win. It did not matter to him about the timing for an endurance test, what mattered more to Luther was an individual's skill. If they did not have the skill, he would not recognize them as an ally, nor an enemy. Only loose weight.

'Think I don't know what you're thinking about? You're showing it just by that look in your eyes. You look down on me that I have no experience towards fighting. Just you wait, even if I may not have it now, I will have it later. For now though, I'll use my body to the limit!'

Sam knew that he lacked the capability to fight with many of these people on par in terms of skill, but he had one thing above average compared to them. He didn't know why he did, but he knew that that's what he possessed.

It was his body.

Sam was able to surpass normal human limits regarding physique, so he would use it to take down the man in front of him.

Both of them glared at each other intently for different reasons, while they waited for the signal.

"Begin!"

Bringing a large step forward, Sam put enough strength in his leg to propel his whole body forward rapidly. With momentum, he brought himself next to Luther's side in just a second as he threw out a punch.

"Hmph, nice trick."

Being able to react, Luther had slid his leg to the side making him duck underneath the punch Sam had thrown out as he then thrusted his elbow into Sam's stomach.

'Sh*t' Cursing, he brought his arms together to avoid getting a direct hit from the elbow. But once more, Luther was able to twist his body to the side as he sent a punch to his open point.

Not reacting in time, Sam could only tense his muscles and take it on directly. As the fist came into contact to the left side of his chest, he had been pushed a total of half-a-meter away as he began bearing swelling pain from the punch just a moment ago.

'He should've been sent flying from that angle, it felt like hitting hard wood...' Shock came to Luther as he never expected him to withstand the blow, but then again, it made sense to think he would have a superior body if he came first back then. Clicking his tongue, he dashed towards Sam but this time he was now taking him on seriously.

Patting his chest, Sam was busy thinking on what he could do to take him down. The skill that Luther had shown a while ago already proves that he is very capable of handling hand-to-hand combat. Knowing that if he continued to use the same strategy, he would just be taking on attacks until he gave up.

Seeing Luther getting closer as he was lost in thought, he no longer began to waste his time when he had no experience in the art. All he could do right now was to rely on his instincts and beat this young master up in any way he could.

'Anything you try won't work.' As he was an arm's distance from Sam, he threw a punch once again but as he did he pulled back and brought his leg to Sam's which was kicked off the ground making him lose his balance. An opportunity arising, he quickly brought his body closer in order for him to lock him in.

But as he did, Sam suddenly balanced out and caught his hand which stopped him in the process.

"Got you~"

Smiling straight to Luther, he roared as he pulled tremendously hard with all his strength on the caught hand, pulling him away as he now was the one to lose his footing. With motion, Sam had launched him flying across the field while also beginning to give chase to not waste any amount of time.

BOOM!

Crashing into the ground, Luther coughed out blood while trying to get his bearing. Knowing that if he stayed in the same spot any longer, he would lose the match straight away.

Forgetting one thing though, he forgot to take into account his phenomenal speed during the test. So as he tried getting up, Sam was already in front of him as he looked down into his eyes.

"Only fools would play tricks like that…"

"If I can win just from this, I wouldn't mind doing it every now and then."

Grabbing him by the collar, Sam smashed his head into Luther's, knocking him out.

"Guess I win then, right Sergeant?"

Nodding at his victory, the Sergeant affirmed. "Sam Heart Wins!"

'Even if he did use tricks to win against Luther, no one could ever expect things to go their way. The solution to a fight is infinite.' Sergeant Zhu thought.

Smiling, he picked Luther up and laid him down outside the ring to show his respect for the match he was shown. Later huddling up together with Soraya and Walter, they both reacted.

"Nice headbutt champ! I wouldn't dare do that even if I was told to, my face is too precious compared to some person."

"You were indeed good despite the difference in skill. Have you ever thought about competing with others in smashing watermelons? Heard it was a very 'extreme' one~"

"It was just the first match, nothing much. I can't compare myself to you two. All i could do then was use a few tricks, I'm not able to be on par with him regarding skill. This was my first match after all. But then again, watermelons don't sound too bad if I fail the test."

All three started to laugh simultaneously.
