Since his mother decided to accept immortality from him, Tom had nothing else to worry about at the moment.

He wanted nothing more than to have his adoptive mother around for as long as possible.

Although, he does understand her hesitance to become immortal.

She is called the Ancient One for a reason after all. His mother has been around for a very long time, and after spending so long on this earth, Tom is sure that she has long grown tired of living.

What he didn't know is that tiredness she felt has slowly disappeared, eaten away by her new son's presence.

When he appeared and became her student, slowly over time the tired feeling she always had started constantly decreasing.

The second they had their talk and Tom became her adoptive son, it was like she became an entirely different person.

A person that wasn't tired of living anymore, where the days didn't blur together without end.

She looks forward to every day because she gets to spend them with her son. She looks forward to the future now as her son is in it.

Life is pretty good for the Ancient One at the moment, and she's finding herself not minding a bit more time on this earth.

A few days later, the Ancient One told Tom that she had everything to sever her connection with the dark dimension.

She has to undergo a complicated ritual in order to get it done without tipping off Dormammu.

If she were to sever it without the ritual, they would risk Dormammu finding out and that wouldn't be good. Although Tom does know how Dormammu was beaten by Dr. Strange in the movie, so they would be able to get rid of him in the end, but it's still best not to deal with him in the first place.

"Okay, so what happens after the ritual? Should I tell Lady Death to make you immortal?" Tom asks, making sure she doesn't die as he isn't sure that she could be brought back or not.

"No, you can't make me immortal until after the ritual. If you do it while I'm still connected, we risk Dormammu noticing." His mother shakes her head.

"Then what do we do? Because without your connection to the dark dimension, you're going to die, right?" Tom asks, annoyed that they have to keep worrying about Dormammu. 'Maybe I should just send Lady Death to take care of him?'

"Yes, so listen carefully because this is important. I'm going to do the ritual and give you a signal near the end. All you have to do is go and tell Death to make me immortal at that time, okay?" She explains getting a nod from Tom.

While his mother was setting up the ritual, Tom made a quick trip to the Realm of Death to notify her about what's going on. That way everyone is ready and moves as quickly as possible.

He also asked if Lady Death could bring dead souls back to life just in case something goes wrong.

Sadly, the answer to that was a resounding no. In order to bring someone back to life, she would need to make them a new body or heal their already dead body, which she can do neither nor has she ever tried.

Apparently, giving life isn't exactly her forte, which is understandable. She's an entity of Death after all. It would be hard to do the exact opposite of what you are.

When the ritual was fully set up and everyone was ready and waiting to do their jobs, Tom met the Ancient One in the same room he did his Avatar Ritual in.

Speaking of that, Tom needs to talk to Manasa as he hasn't seen her in a while, but that can wait for a calmer time.

Entering the ritual room, Tom is met with a grand ritual, but not as grand as his Avatar one.

His mother was standing on the side of it, making sure everything was painted in the right way and placed in their designated areas.

"Is everything ready?" Tom asks as she finishes looking over the ritual.

"Yes, is Lady Death ready?" The Ancient One asks in return, receiving a nod from Tom. "Good, then let's begin. The sooner I don't have to feel the dark dimension trying to corrupt me, the better."

Saying this, she strolls through the ritual, careful not to ruin anything along the way. Stopping near the center, she walks over to a pedestal with a bowl and knife placed on it.

Inside the bowl are two pieces of rope, tied in a tight knot.

Grabbing the knife, the Ancient One slits both of her wrists one by one while holding them above the bowl.

As blood collects in the bowl, it soaks into the ropes dying them red. While the bowl is filling with blood, golden eldritch runes appear around the Ancient One, activating the ritual.

The runes and glyphs littering the floor start lighting up one by one originating from the center, where the Ancient One is still bleeding herself Into the bowl.

When every portion of the ritual is lit up, Toms mother stops her bleeding and reaches into the bowl, pulling out a Bloody knotted rope.

With the rope in hand, the Ancient One turns to her adoptive son and nods.

"Go now!" She calls out.

Not needed to be told twice, Tom wills himself into Lady Deaths' presence and disappears from the ritual room.

With a wave of her hand, the knotted rope in before her untied and separated into two separate pieces, symbolizing the Ancient One unbinding herself from the dark dimension.
