Dreamers.

(A few minutes after the commotion settled down)

(Stoic woman POV, third person POV)

Never had she thought that the thing that they'd been searching for fot the past three months would show up directly in their base and cause such a ruckus. From what they have heard from their superiors the source of this magical energy should be a creature, or as theorised "subject #001" since it was located in the area where it was first seen and it had the strongest energy out of every other creature with it. It also helped that it was the only one present in this country, the reason for that is because luckily such powerful creatures are very rare, especially the intelligent ones.

She had seen the footage of the first monster, the one she was tasked to track down and neutralize, only she was a bit sceptical if that was actually what the organisation wanted. She has worked long enough with the organisation to know that there is always something else and secretive going on behind the scenes. The council knew something she didn't and it bothered her, a lot. She never did like being left out of the loop when it comes to such important details but what can she do about it? She isn't important enough in the organisation to have access to such information.

From what she could see from the footage and now with her own personal experience this monster has some sort of intelligence, the level of its intelligence is yet to be determined as they haven't been able to interact much with it as of yet. But she knew that if she could figure this out by herself the organisation has to have figured it out too, she is just a mid level operative after all although higher than those two infighting idiots she has to unfortunately 'work' with.

Just like it was theorised six months ago, the monsters that were able to show intelligence also had the ability to speak although in an unknown language. This was what got her all excited when it had finally shown up. She had dreamed about this for years and she has never been as close as she was today, yet she missed her chance by just an inch.

She was curious and wanted answers, just like everyone else, but she had her own agenda. Though she had to be very secretive about it since the organisation doesn't like its employees to do things out of their own initiative, which would lead to immediate termination, but she wouldn't let this stop her queste to meet with it.

She had seen the body of the man the creature had killed, Joshua age 27 who just started working here last week. He had moved here so he could be far away from the major cities where the most monsters are but his misfortune had chased him all the way down here. Not that she sympathised with the deceased man in front of her, she was only focused on how effortlessly this monster tore through the plated armor that was able to stop most pre calamity bullets with ease, and then there was the ripped out heart laying in the now red snow a few meters removed from the body.

It likely took the monster only a second to kill this man but that wasn't what was bothering her. What bothered her was why the monster was standing on the roof they were in when the alarms were activated. She had clearly heard it jumping off the roof when she was conversing with her colleagues.

Whilst the woman was lost in thought the body of Joshua was finally zipped up in a body bag and dragged away through the snow by two guards from the organisation. The body might contain useful information about the creature but from the way the guards handled the body by dragging it on the ground it was highly probable that it didn't.

Noticing that the body had been moved the woman sighed and went back inside where the warmth immediately claimed her body protecting her from the cold and harsh winter weather. She never did like the cold, but if it meant that she'd be able to fulfill her dream she'd do almost anything, though she did have limits.

(Back to normal)

Osiris who had decided to not move back to his cave and to just leave the immediate area to avoid any further human interactions, was moving fast dodging trees and avoiding any animals that came on his path. It increasingly became more difficult to keep awake as he was actively using his body, he noticed that for the first time since waking up as a monster fatigue was showing. This would set back a couple of his plans as he had thought that he was immune to the need of sleep yet here he was, almost falling asleep.

It didn't take long for Osiris to locate a suitable location where could sleep, and with the heavy snowfall his tracks would be covered in just a couple of hours. He didn't worry as he pushed all of his worries and unnecessary thoughts out of his head and blissfully fell asleep, and it didn't take very long for him to start dreaming.

Inside of the dream Osiris was seen laying on a wide snowless grassfield, a warm breeze travelled over the landscape and the sun sent its calming heat to him making Osiris feel the warmth as if he wasn't dreaming. The five senses may not be normally felt inside of a dream but Orisis could clearly feel everything around him as if he was personally there. Curious Osiris lifted his head to look around him but as he was doing so the calm surroundings changed, with Osiris still in the same place.

Instead of the sunny grassfield ruins of a megacity took its place, these ruins were covered in growing wildlife and signs of erosion were clearly noticeable. Everything man made except for the buildings and streets were gone and not even all the buildings stood where they used to be.

Osiris blinked in surprise when the feeling of comfort from the sunny grassfield was gone but when he did the new urban-like surroundings started to change into other things at a fast pace. Whilst he did get a good look at the ruins these next landscapes changed too fast for even Osiris' enhanced senses to follow.

He could see flashes of some of the more obvious landscapes that ranged from forest fires to devastating world ending calamities considered worse than the one he had witnessed six months ago, everything was shown and he felt that if he didn't pay attention he would miss something fatal. As these landscapes continued to move Osiris' head started to ache as all these images were too much for his brain to keep up with and in the end he blacked out inside the dream.

(End of chapter #012 of "Sudden Monster")

So, let me explain, if you don't want to risk spoiling the plot then by all means skip ahead as I might/will not be able to keep future happenings out of this explanation.

The dream will not affect anything at all, for all of those who might complain about a cliche dream where the main character gains unimaginable power or something, he won't, though it is important to the plot, and the "stoic woman" will be one of the returning cast as I like the idea of someone "hunting" the mc or something, and if there are some weirdos out there that think that this is a what people call a "love interest" then, no. I mean Osiris doesn't even have a gender but that is something for later.

I am sad, I don't like it. What it is about I do not know though, it is a big mystery.
