Chapter 6: Resort

Nikki's Pov

A few weeks later winter had broken. The air had hardened and turned cold. The atmosphere was surrounded by people readying themselves for the holiday season.

As this was all happening I was in my room, packing for the winter trip. Over the course of the last few days, Donghyuck and I spent more time together. Acting like a real couple, and my heart eventually breaking as we couldn't be together days before the holidays. We would go ice skating together, get ice cream in this weather, and even sleep over occasionally. Though most of those did incorporate some of our friends, well almost, Mark has been the most quiet these days.

It doesn't even make sense as to why I would go with Chan and them. I'd be happier with the others, and yet here I am walking towards the school bus surrounded by the "popular students" ready to party, hormones dripping with lust, and to go skiing. Still thinking about the events that took place just hours ago. His face when he left the room, still hasn't left my mind.

The hurt and stress blankly placed on his face made my knees wobble. Knowing that this was wrong, but still wanting some sort of justification as to why I was doing this even if it was hurting the people I loved.

While I was just here standing with my 'boyfriend' as he flirts with her right in front of me. It wasn't even jealousy at this point, it was annoyance that he could freely do that while I couldn't.

"Omg Chan!" She laughed as she put her bony hand on his forearm and stroked it softly. I can't help but roll my eyes and look away to be met with familiar eyes that I was honestly glad to see, I silently walked over as Chan was too busy practically undressing her with his eyes.

"I didn't know you were going this year?" He said. "I kinda regret it at this point," I said as I looked back to see him not even noticing my leaving presence.

"It'll be fun I'll make sure, if it's not I'll take you home. No issues I'm bringing my car anyways."

"Thanks Logan, I may just take you up on that," I chuckled as we all gathered in front of the bus for role call.

After we all put our luggage into the bottom of the bus they all sprawled into the bus finding the best seats for themselves. As I saw the brown tuft of familiar hair, another set of hair similar to mine had already taken the seat next to him.

"Chan is this seat taken?"

"Nope, not at all sit down," he smiled up at her without sparing me a glance.

I walked further back next to Felix, and sat down quietly as he had his headphones in. He must have felt me moving as he opened his eyes and smiled at me.

"Oh Nikki hey, what's up?"

"Nothing I just wanted-to sit back here," I shrugged.

"Why didn't you sit with Chan?" He questioned as his hair hopped from side to side.

"He's- busy?" With my excuse even I doubted myself.

"Okay then," he pulled out one of his earplugs and handed the other ear to me.

"It's called Jopping, it's amazing!" He smiled at me. (« Stan SuperM »)

I took the bus and placed it in my ear letting the music flow and slowly but quickly putting me to sleep.

The cabins were beautiful, the Christmas lights were scattered all around making the old place seem alive, the people who ran the place ran out to greet the rest of our teachers. "Welcome to The Hills I hope that our returners and newcomers enjoy the vicinity and have fun enjoying our activities. Before we start here are some rules that we have to ensure safety. . ."

As I tuned out the old lady who was talking my eyes traveled towards the lovely couple in front of me. Flirting their lives away, hands going places, and smiles up to their eyes. Sometimes it just doesn't seem like we have to pretend to be happy with each other, but then shit like this hits you and it sucks.

"Pssst," I look over to my left near the trees and there I see a Logan with his same old smile hinting me to come over to him.

As I slowly walked away from the crowd he laughed and signaled me to come closer. "What?"

"She's too boring, it's the exact same speech every single year! Come one let's go." He dragged me all the way across the back of the lighted building towards the back.

It was nice and large. It had a small hot tub, and some resting areas for the skiers. A huge Christmas tree was placed in the middle and the was lit up with lights ranging in different colored yellows.

"Wow this is beautiful," I whisper to myself.

"It's worth seeing at least once before graduating,"

"Is that why you go every year?" I asked looking back at him.

"Well apart from tradition it's better to see this than the same old park back home."

"It is why Chan likes me here so much, " I smiled as I looked at the tiny crystals tumbling down the sky. "That's not the only reason why," He mumbled quietly, barely enough for me to hear, but I did, And I knew exactly what he meant.

-

As our time ended exploring the resort we eventually came to our individual rooms and called it a night. As I keyed into my room with a random girl in my grade, named Mina, a knock on the door disrupted my unpacking.

"Nikki," Chan said as his head popped in the door.

"Hmm?"

"Let's go we're all playing a game in the main hall," he smiled at me, for the first time during this whole trip, before dragging me down the halls.

We walked in and saw all of his friends along with some cheerleaders sitting in a small group laughing and giggling with one another. "Alright Chan's back let's continue on with the game," one of his friends Jaejin said.

"What game is this?" I whispered to Felix as he was right next to me.

"Truth or Dare, with a twist," he smirked.

"What twist?" I asked.

"The night has to end with two people from the group getting laid, with someone blindfolded," I turned to look back at the group as Seungmin asked a question to ultimately Chan.

"Truth or Dare?"

"Dare?"

"Alright," A lot of cheers were heard from the team, as he was pushed to stand up. It seemed casual as everyone seemed to be expecting what was happening to happen already.

"We dare you to do 7 minutes in heaven with someone we push you into the closet with,"

"What? Wait wha-" he chuckled softly as he put an arm around me to try to stop them from pushing him away.

"A dare is a dare brother!" Another on of his stupid friends called out. He looked back at me as he was pushed towards the closet door that was in the room.

"Guys my girlfriend is here!" He whined, even his whining is sounding unbelievable these days.

"It'll be quick!" They laughed.

"What!" They closed the door and picked a paper out of the left hat then gave it to the person in front of the door.

"This is getting juicy!" he sing-songed.

Then one of his friends picked a piece of paper from the other hat and called out the name, in a low voice.

"Bri!!" He went over to her and put the blind fold on as he pushed her into the room not before whispering something to her.

"Does this always happen?" I whispered to Felix as he saw him and the rest of the guys preparing to leave the room.

"Not every year, but it had happened in past years." He whispered back.

"Oh,"

"It's totally platonic, you'll be fine, don't expect too much out of it." he patted my shoulder as he walked away with the rest of the guys. Though he did look back and gave one of those good old sympathy stares, gotta love them, right?

I inched little by little towards the door, unsure of what I was expecting. But all I heard was what I wish I could do, with the man I love.

"When can we tell everyone?"

"When the time's right,"

"When is that?" A desperate voice said.

"When Nikki and I sort out our family problems,"

"I hope that we won't have to hide anymore, it hurts seeing you with her." Her melodious voice mumbled.

"Just wait a little-more," his voice fades out as the sound of them kissing intensifies.

I pulled away from the door and ran towards my room. Luckily Mina wasn't there.

It was so unfair! I was always the one paying the price for this 'relationship'. I always had to make the sacrifices. Chan had the leisure to do whatever he pleased, while our parents always cracked down on me to be the perfect one. He could kiss any girl in public and be praised, while if I simply hugged Hyuck, there would be an uproar.

This was a mistake.

"Hello?"

"Hi" I said in a rough and fragile voice as I couldn't understand

why I did what I just did.

"What's wrong? It's 2 in the morning, shouldn't you be

asleep now?"

"Can-can you pick me up?" I said as my voice began to dry up.

"What happened?" He carefully asked me.

"I just- wanna be home with you guys. I miss you," I told him.

"I'll be there soon, pack your bags," he hung up the phone.

"Thank you, Hyuck" I whispered knowing that he couldn't hear me anymore as the line was dead.
