Chapter 68 : Guild Master (Part 1)

*KURAAAKKK*

*SLASH*

After such an arduous battle, The Goblin Shaman was finally defeated by Andrew's sword.

The Goblins subjugation quest was finally over, with a kill count around 57 goblins including the Ogre that was killed by Rei.

Andrew and his team sat down on the ground, taking a breath after cleaning up the remaining monster. They were exhausted physically and mentally.

Although they were glad they survived this quest, which turned out to be an impossible quest for D-rank team like them to do alone if it wasn't for Rei who joined in.

Right now, the MVP himself is sitting there beside the campfire after he lightened it up. He stayed quiet for the whole time, while the rest of the team went to his side and sat down across him.

They looked down in shame, after talk big about their strength to the man in front of them who subjugated the Ogre alone, not only that it doesn't a minute.

Rei stared at them from the slits of his helmet, "So? How do you feel after fighting this kind of thing?" Rei asked instead of scolding them.

Andrew bit his bottom lip, feeling a bit embarrassed and at the same time, he felt like he wanted to dig a hole in the ground for him to hide.

All of them share the same feeling, Rei could tell.

Rei sighed, "I can guess that you feel afraid, am I right? Since we have a time before tomorrow...should I tell you about your flaws during this quest." Rei spoke as the fire began to crackle a bit.

Andrew looked at him and nodded slightly.

"Well from my perspective, you have a lot of flaw from the way you do things....it was the worst." His tone changed when he spoke the last part.

"You boasted your strength to be the best...but in reality you are just a frog in a well, you don't know what happened in the real world and you don't know that the world is vast and big."

"First is your preparation, not only you didn't prepare anything in case there's a problem in the quest, you all decided to ignore it and thinking that it will be alright. If it wasn't for the [Monster Repellent] I have brought, the monster around us will start attacking you while you blabbed about who's gonna be by his side."

"Also...are you guys an idiot? Going into an unknown quest without doing any preparation? If something happened, what are you gonna do? Feeling regret? It's too late for that." Rei scolded them.

He's finally able to express his feeling and perspective towards them, and right now they are listening and couldn't deny it.

"Secondly is the information regarding the quest, never believe or never thought that a quest is gonna be easy. No one knows how it's gonna end, and an unexpected danger is always a possibility."

Rei glanced towards Andrew, "Don't just carelessly jump towards a quest, make sure to read it properly and try to doubt the information you are given and gather for more info."

Andrew looked down a bit. The thought didn't even cross his mind because apparently, he was still way too naïve. This quest and Rei made him realize that

"And finally about your combat skill. From the way I look at it, you guys never had a real battle situation huh? Not only that, your teamwork and synergy isn't very good."

"Not enough preparation and at the same time... you cannot stay calm in a bad situation and let the fear overcome you. People who fought with death will eventually feel scared of course the same as me...but at the same time they need to overcome it." Rei explained and began to point his finger to them one by one.

"Erika, you put too much on your strength in that fight but at the same time you didn't seem to have any skill to take down the enemy properly, you need to strike them fatally, I don't know whether you have to be dirty or not but this is a fight to death, surviving is number one."

"Dahlia, you put too much trust on your magic...you didn't even notice that the Shaman is using jamming magic, if not for my disruption and if the enemy have an archer among them... you probably would be dead by now."

"Lena, your healing is perfect so the only thing I could say about it is your manner of speaking, you need to speak out your mind to them. They are thick headed but they are still your teammate."

"Last but not least...Andrew, I know you had more talent because of your innate skill but that doesn't mean it's a great person. If you are in one on one against someone, I bet you can win it...but if it's multiple enemies, I doubt about it since you who never had that kind situation will need to learn about your surroundings more."

They were listening to his words carefully and actually managed to reflect about their mistakes.

Rei could see that from their expression and sighed, "But well you did manage to defeat several Goblins on your own, so I guess that's a plus...but since this quest we have an Ogre showing up, let's just say it's a luck that I am here to deal with it." Rei spoke while leaning his back to the tree behind him.

Andrew looked at him for a moment and decided to stand up, "Sir Crimson."

Rei responded by looking at him.

"I apologize for my friends' behavior and thank you for helping us in this quest...if it's weren't for you...we would probably..." Andrew trailed off but he bowed his head down straight 90 degrees. "Thank you very much!"

Rei widened his eyes and blinked, "N-no it's fine, I'm just giving you an advice and that Ogre in the beginning was my prey so–"

"Even so! You still saved us! I know I was wrong for insulting you...that's why...thank you very much!" Erika decided to join in, followed by Dahlia.

"Me too...I apologize and thank you very much."

"M-me too! T-thank you very much!" Lena stumbled with her words a bit, but she managed to mimic her friends.

As usual, Rei who saw this sort of scene felt a bit weird awkward.

"U-ummm...f-fine fine! I accept your apology and besides we are Adventurers so it's normal for us to work together to survive." Rei spoke as he looked away to hide his embarrassment.

"S-sir Crimson!" They called his name and making this pitiful look on them.

"A-ahem! Let's dismantle those monsters first, before it got eaten by others." Rei stood up and left his spot quickly.

Ray sighed, 'Haah~ as usual, you really can't take a compliment and thank yous.'

'S-shut it! It just feels weird when they earnestly thanking me like that after I scolded them!'

'You taught them.' Ray interpreted.

'A-and besides my aim was this monster, so it's not like I'm helping them!'

'You helped them.' Ray interpreted again.

Rei frowned as he tried to hide his embarrassment. He usually always helped others but never received any thanks right in front of him. So if he got thanked like that, obviously he couldn't help but feel weird and embarrassed.

Ray laughed seeing his expression like that and just let it go.

Rei sighed as he finally stood in front of the Ogre's corpse.

'When I see it up close, this guy is pretty big huh.' Rei spoke, observing the monster's body.

'Well it is unique boss monster, usually Ogre isn't this big...this thing probably survived in a fight and evolved into something horrible.'

'Though its still got killed by me.'

'Well if he didn't let his guard down. Unlike Beast type monster, they have higher sensitivity to danger...unlike this Ogre. It seems it was his first time fighting a speed monster like you, with incredible strength, it misjudged its enemy and died.'

'So it's better to think that you are lucky to be able to kill it before it could even use its skill yet.' Ray explained.

'I understand, and now...shall began to take out their material first.' Rei spoke while taking out a small knife from his [Inventory] that he bought in Gudmund's store.

'Which part should I take?' Rei asked while preparing his knife.

'Cut those things first and that thing.' Ray instructed.

As per his instruction, Rei began to dismantling the Ogre's body, separating the parts that would make a very important material for him.

The horn, the tooth, and the eye, he took them apart one by one.

It's a very disgusting scene, even Andrew and his team who came over to see what he's doing felt uncomfortable with the sight.

Rei remained calm while taking them out, not even caring if his hands were covered with blood as he finally took out the Ogre's core.

The core is somewhat different from what he has seen so far, it reminded him about certain monster core he obtained long ago.

'[The Dark Wolf Leader]...even though it's been two years, I never forgot about that monster.'

'Indeed.'

'It seems the core have different color than that monster.' Rei observed, the core in his hand is dark red.

'Well that monster has purplish-blue color. With my technique you will managed to separate their skill.' Rei said while looking at this core.

'It might have a good skill, let's appraise the other thing beforehand.'

'Right, [Appraisal].'

=======================================

[The Black Ogre Chief Horn]

A horn from a mysterious ogre who has survived for so long. The horn might be slightly stronger than any iron.

[The Black Ogre Chief Eyes]

=======================================

=======================================

[The Black Ogre Chief Tooth]

Grade: Rare

Type: Material

A tooth from a mysterious ogre who has survived for so long. It's strong enough to crush any metal and rocks.

=======================================

Rei then appraised the core.

=======================================

[The Black Ogre Chief Core]

Grade: Epic

Type: Material

A core from a mysterious ogre who have survived for so long. The core contained mysterious power that could strengthen and even destroy everything on its way.

=======================================

"This is...isn't bad at all, except the tooth and the eyes, everything is [Epic] grade."

'Indeed, but I'm more curious about the mysterious power is.'

'Well me too.'

'And we're just gonna sell the eyes and the rest...you know what you need to do.'

'Of course, it was my plan to begin with...but sadly, this material is good for a sword and spear, instead of a bow.' Rei said as he examined the material again.

'Well we can still buy the other material for the bow.' Ray replied.

'Hmmm...that's true...but do you have a perfect material in mind? Like I know we can buy them, but I also need to experience it to gain more perfect image.'

Ray closed his eyes as he thought about it, 'Hmmm...the only thing I can remember is...there's a monster that can shoot something that was quite flexible yet strong.'

'A monster that can shoot something out?'

'Hmmmm...we will talk about that later, it seems they are done with dismantling them.' Ray spoke as Andrew and his team came over to him.

"We're done dismantling them, sir!" Andrew informed while holding onto a big bag and not just that, there were 2 of them.

"Ummm...how many are there?"

"Hmmmm...it seems it was around 50 or 60, we divided it into two bags so we could hold onto it."

"And what did you guys dismantled?"

"The Goblins core and their ears sir."

'Is that even useful?' Rei asked.

'Well it's for the proof that you managed to defeat the amount needed for the quest, the Guild will appraise them and give them the reward.'

'Since an accident happen where that Ogre appeared we might be getting more reward.'

'I see...wait, do we have to give them all of these!' Rei asked quickly.

But Ray just laughed, 'Hahaha, not at all, we only gave them the thing that doesn't necessary for us and we can get extra money from it.'

Rei sighed, 'I'm glad to hear it, I guess I should sell the eyes, since I don't think it's necessary for me.'

'Indeed.' Ray answered.

While Rei were discussing things with Ray inside his mind, Andrew and his team looked at him in confusion since sometimes the man in front them suddenly became quiet mid-talking.

"Ummm...sir?" Andrew called him out, snapping Rei back into reality.

"A-ah! Yes...you did a great job, but don't forget to bring that Shaman staff, it can be used for something else." Rei instructed.

"Y-yes!" Andrew answered and Erika took the staff obediently. Unlike before, she dropped the arrogant brat act and now she and the rest of them acted like a little puppy.

Rei could tell and sighed, "Give me the bag now, I will hold onto it." Rei said while offering his hand to them.

Andrew blinked for a moment before he gave them all to him, "Ummmm, sir how are you–"

*SHUUSTH* *SHUUSTH*

After Rei took the bag, he quickly put them into his [Inventory]. They were astonished seeing that big bag suddenly disappeared in thin air.

"A-as expected, you can use [Spatial Magic]!" (Dahlia)

"S-spatial Magic?!" Andrew, Erika and Lena, spoke simultaneously.

"Hmmm?? what's wrong?" Rei asked in confusion.

"I-i've been wondering where did sir Crimson get his weapon from...I never though he was using [Spatial Magic]!" (Andrew)

Even Erika's head was about to burst as if there's smoke puffing out from it, since she cannot process to this situation.

"A-ahh! Erika-san!" Lena saw her and tried to help her.

As they were making a fuss, Rei was the only one who was confused around here.

'Ummm...is [Spatial Magic] that great?' Rei asked.

'Ohhh...yeah it is, wait...did I never mention it?'

Rei sighed, 'Not this pattern again.'

Ray laughed, 'Hahaha! Sorry sorry, well the only thing I can say is that [Spatial Magic] is the rarest when it comes about magic and is also the hardest to master.'

'No wonder the people around me always get shocked after hearing it...' Rei replied and sighed.

'Well just go on with the flow.'

'Shut it.' Rei scowled a bit while rubbing the back of his head as the fuss goes on.

******

Finally after a good rest, they returned to the Guild on the next day.

They were safe and sound. When they came into the Guild together, all of the eyes from the people present in the guild were back to Rei once again.

Though the stare was more of a surprise.

From what they have seen before, these groups are quite the rowdy and noisy bunch. The girls kept fighting for just a single guy's attention and it's quite of an eyesore for some of them.

But now they were more quiet and somewhat obedient while walking behind Rei.

As if...he took them over, for just one day after the quest had been completed.

And the one who were waiting for their arrival was the staff—Rebecca.

"Oh! Sir Crimson! Welcome back!" She greeted him with warm smile.

"Indeed I am back."

"Did you finish your quest with them sir?"

"Yeah we did, though we kinda stumbled into something in the middle of the quest." Rei said.

"Huh? You met something? Is there another monster?"

"Yeah sort of."

"Ahh, I see, you can tell me about the monster and show the proof of it, then we will surely reward you properly." Rebecca explained.

"I see, well then..." Rei suddenly reached out his hand into something.

"S-sir?!"

Rei pulled out two big bags and the big and round red core on his hand.

Rebecca widened her eyes in surprise when Rei placed them on her desk. She began to check the bag inside and even the core that he showed to her.

Rei could see that her eyes glinted a bit.

'Appraisal it seems.' Rei guessed but then...

Rebecca immediately stood up from her seat, "T-this...is!–W-wait a second!" Rebecca left her post in a hurry, leaving Rei behind who looked at her retreating back in confusion.

Rei patiently waited for her return until he saw someone else approaching him.

He's an old man with big muscled body, wearing only simple white shirt with green sleeveless blazer, with monocle hanging on his left eye. He had white silver hair along with his beard.

The old man was none other than the [Guild Master] who organized and led this Adventure Guild.

[The Guild Master, Hughes Farhill]

Meanwhile, Rebecca is walking right next to him.

"Is this the guy?" He spoke with his deep voice, reeking out pressure from his presence.

Rei who only stood there could tell that this man is strong, probably stronger than that Ogre he faced before and at the same time....

He felt something very familiar happening again.

'Seriously not this pattern again.'

To be continue...
