Dragon King's Harem Chapter 315. Afternoon Tea II
"But for how long?" asked Sela, her voice dipped in a grim undertone, a huff escaping her mouth.
Evelina shook her head slowly. Even Argod and Glasha seemed unsure of the path ahead.
Argod had opened up to Evelina about what happened with Glasha. He explained that when he took her for the first time, it wasn't some brutal, savage act like it might have sounded. Evelina trusted him. After all, there was no reason for Argod to lie about it. Plus, the fact that Glasha didn't have any marks or signs of physical harm backed up what he said.
"Will she end up hating His Majesty forever?" Marissa's question hung in the air. Her eyes, fixed on the plate in her hands.
"That's possible," Jyne admitted, a note of sadness tainting her voice. She felt a peculiar sympathy for Glasha.
"Will that be a problem for the harem?" Marissa redirected the conversation, turning to Evelina, as if seeking insight from her.
Evelina, thoughtful and silent for a moment, weighed the possibilities and potential consequences of Glasha's sentiments.
"As long as she doesn't play dirty tricks, it shouldn't be a problem," Evelina finally voiced her opinion. Her gaze was steady and contemplative. Despite Glasha's warrior pride, Evelina acknowledged the reality that desperation might drive one to unexpected actions.
"After all," she continued, her voice carrying a measured wisdom, "considering the tricks her twin pulled, it could happen. She might be that desperate."
Sela sighed, her shoulders sagging. "It's just a mess, isn't it? Politics, love, duty—all tangled up."
Jyne nodded, her eyes reflecting the weariness. "Life is never as straightforward as we hope it to be."
"So, we have to be careful with her?" Marissa sought confirmation, her gaze serious as she looked around the circle of women.
Evelina nodded, a hint of caution in her eyes. "Yes, just in case," she affirmed before taking a thoughtful sip of her tea.
"The king's woman has a loyal mark on her, right?" Marissa inquired, a slight frown creasing her forehead.
"Yes," Evelina responded. "But remember, she is only loyal to him, no one else." The reminder echoed in the room, emphasizing the singular loyalty that Glasha held – not to the sisterhood of the harem, but to her master, Argod.
Marissa leaned back, her gaze distant as she pondered the implications. "It's like a delicate dance, isn't it? Knowing when to step forward and when to tiptoe around."
Evelina chuckled softly. "You got it."
Jyne added, "Well, as long as we don't step on each other's toes, we should be fine. And watch out for Glasha's arrows, metaphorical or not."
"So we have to exile her?" Sela questioned, her eyes narrowing.
"No, no exile necessary," Evelina clarified, her tone steady. "Just be more careful. It's a precaution, that's all." She leaned back, cradling her teacup, a thoughtful expression playing on her features. "I still hope she will join the harem, just like us," she added, optimism underlying her words. Evelina's desire for unity among the wives was evident in her hope for Glasha's eventual integration.
"After all…" Evelina glanced at Sela, a sly smile playing on her lips. "She's wearing your Magic Bracelet," she reminded Sela.
"Still… I think it will be difficult," Jyne remarked, a skeptical shake of her head punctuating her words.
"Difficult doesn't mean impossible," Evelina asserted. Her gaze swept across the faces of the women gathered in the parlor.
"Not in the near future since Glasha is still in mourning," Marissa chimed in. She reached for a cookie and popped it into her mouth.
"And His Majesty is busy," Sela interjected.
"Yes, now that Lizard King is looking for trouble with him," Marissa continued, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Who would've thought being a king came with so many headaches?" Jyne mused, a wry smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Evelina chuckled, a hint of irony in her voice. "Well, I guess that's the price of wearing the crown. Comes with a side of chaos and a sprinkle of unpredictability."
"I'm a bit worried about the Lizard King's message," Marissa stated with a huff.
Jyne and Evelina exchanged glances, a silent communication passing between them.
"About that... You don't need to worry about it," Jyne assured with a cringe, turning to address the group.
"It will be an easy problem to handle," Evelina remarked, her eyes dancing with suppressed amusement as she nodded confidently.
"What happened?" Sela asked, her curiosity piqued as she leaned in towards them, eager for the details.
"It's nothing big. Only an arrogant noble from the Lizard Tribe has disturbed His Majesty," Evelina revealed, a playful smirk playing on her lips.
"I can't wait to see his face," Jyne chimed in, a mischievous grin revealing her anticipation.
"What has he done?" Marissa inquired.
