Chapter 1: The Start of the End

Ok so every wonder what it would be like to play a VR game but in real life? I have one answer to that very odd question. Hell. Point blank Hell. I didn't know how the world would end but I did not expect that the start of the end would be a game of Life.

It was a Friday and that meant payday. I was taking a break and heading to lunch at my favorite place to eat, The Brick Wall. I work as a Construction Worker so it happened as we were in the middle of packing up the equipment we had out to build this 3 story house. I was wrapping up the air hose when I say cards flying down from the sky.

I looked up and what I saw made my jaw drop like it weighted a ton. The sky was filled with cards flying down. Not knowing what was happening I quickly finished wrapping the hose and put it away and looked at the ground to see what was up with the cards.

Some cards were faced down while some were faced up. I squat down to look at a card and the I see a message pop up in front of me.

Shocked that I was reading a doomsday message like it was a video game, I stood up and looked at my coworkers, who apparently saw the same thing as I did. One of them even picked up a card and before we realized it, he had two throwing axes at his side, two larger axes on his back with a shield. His clothes even changed to look more like a Viking.

"What the hell? Don't touch the cards. I picked this one up just to get a better look at it and a message popped up asking if I was wanting to be a Viking and just thinking to myself I said yes." He said looking at us and back to what he had on.

Seeing what happened to him I started to look back at the card I saw facing up and a few others I saw also facing up. I noticed that every card had a star and a few had a purple star.

Thinking it as a rating star, the more stars or even more purple star it had, the better the card could be. So I started looking around to see if there was any cards that had a better star the purple in case I could have picked a better card for myself. After about ten minutes of looking around, I noticed that there was a card the was different in a lot of ways. For starters, it was gold compared to the white cards. The stars on it went all the way from one side to the other and the color of the stars were black. Now from all my time reading novels about VR games and playing card/ video games normally black starts are normal but what I thought was that it wouldn't be the case for this A.A shit. So I look at the card and read it to myself like I normally read like.

Allows player to pick two classes.

Smiling at the idea of playing as two classes that I could still choose, I reach out and pick it up.

Thinking of all the possibilities that I could pick, I smile as I think yes. The next thing I know I see another message that made me think that I have a guardian angel watching over me.

(Congratulations to *Player2639* in gaining the Class Dual Classer. Please pick two classes you would like to have to survive with till you die.)

Smirking a bit, I continue looking around while I think about the two choices of class I should go with. Normally the normal person would most likely go with would be a warrior and mage style but I wouldn't go that way because its got more issues then anything. While I was thinking of what I should dual class as I saw one I had like from Diablo II and Diablo III, the Necromancer class. The idea was nice because during games, my user ID would always be 'Overdeathk9' because of the fact I'm a dog person who isn't scared to die due the fact that I've had my fair share of experience of dying myself. So having a class that controls the dead would fit perfectly. It was then that the idea of the two classes I should have as my dual classes. Smiling as I pick up the Necromancer class card the message asking if I want to have this class as one of my classes.

'Hell yeah. I also need to find out how to change my name on this shit. I hate the *Player* with number bull shit.' I think as I notice my cloths haven't changed yet. 'Guess it is waiting for me to pick my last class to change what I get to wear.'

I got back to looking around till I see what I was looking for, the Beast tamer class. This class would allow me to tame any beast to a certain degree at first but if the Class can become better over time, I could possibly tame stronger and more deadlier beast to have fight with me. Notice the word 'With' because I plan to be a wide range of combat expert.

Smiling as I pick up the Beast tamer class card and the message pops up asking if I want this class as my final choice.

'Heck yeah, time to complete the classes I want.' I think as I look down and see my cloths change to a light armor set with what looks a bit demonic with skulls with horns that lop around once and point out less then a quarter inch sticking out.

"What class did you pick Xander to have that armor? Looks dope as hell." Rey asks as he look at me.

"I actually would have to say I hit the jack pot Rey. I found this Card that was a Dual Classer, so I have two Classes that I play as. Necromancer and Beast tamer." I say as I look around and notice that out of the 5 of us here, only one other person didn't have a class. "What wrong Gage?"

Gage is a older fella who is a bit on the overly skinny weight class. "I'm not sure I should pick a class because I don't know how to play games."

I smile as I start laughing. After a minute of laughing I start calming down and say "Well look at it this way, what would you like to focus on? A strong body where if I took the throwing axes from Rey and slam the blade in, you wouldn't take damage? Or have you always had an interest in dealing damage, and if so close quarter or from a distance? Or have you always wanted to make a fire or ice or anything magical out of thin air? Or are you the type that would be better at supporting others when they are in a tight pinch?"

"I think I would be a decent damage dealer from a distance." Gage says after thinking about it for a moment.

"Okay, that is what we would call a Ranger in D&D. So if you want some help I'm sure we can find you a decent range attack class." I say as I nod in agreement to his choice so I start looking around on the ground for any range class cards. After a little while I find one and as I reach down to the card to pick it up a message pops up.

Laughing a little bit to myself as I click on the Always answer yes and nod to myself. The message leaves my view and I continue to pick up the card and I look at the card. it is a 6 star range class with what looks like a bow crossed with a staff with a ball of fire around it.

Thinking of all the classes I have looked at during my time playing games I have not seen any kind of classes that had a bow and allowed the player to cast a fireball at the same time so I smile as I walk over to Gage and hand it to him.

"So I will be straight with you about this Card before I hand it to you. I don't know what kind of class this is but from the looks of it, its a Ranger class but with what looks like an magical ability like a mage so if you choose this class, I can tell you how to set it up on the basic level and from there you will have to learn more about it on your own. But don't worry as I would love to see what you learn so I can learn something new. Also, it seems to be a rare class since it has 6 stars, stars are a rate I think, like Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legend, Mythic, and Godly. So what would you say?" I ask as I keep hold of it but I show him the card and the picture on it.

He stands there while stares at it while he thinks over it for about a minute before he grabs it as he nods. "It would cover a bit what looks like a weakness in our group."

I nod in agreement as I let go and look at everyone else. So now we have a Ranger with Mage abilities most likely, a Viking, and a Dual Class crowd control. Drakko looks to be a tank with all the heavy white armor with a tower shield and a short sword. Pasco was wearing a robe with two orbs floating in both hands, one orb for each hand. The orbs look to be a bright blue and a deep blood red.

"Pas, what class did you pick?" I ask as I walk over to him and look at the orbs with curiosity.

"Dual Magician. Seems to look cool, right?" he replies.

I just nod.

"So what now?"Drakko asks just before a message pops up in front of us all that made us look horrified.

Once we got done reading that we all looked at each other and all at the same time said "Fucking ass wipe!"

"So basically, don't expect any vehicles to work. Well shit. It's going to be a while so for now I would like to suggest that we look at our status and see what we have to work with and what we can do. Skills and abilities alike. Any kind of Functions like adding each other as friends also need to be taken notes on." I say as I walk over to a pile of wood to sit on.

Everyone else agrees and finds a spot to sit down on. We all say Status and start taking notes of all of our abilities.

Once I was done looking at my status points I looked at my name and noticed I can change it.

"If you dont like the player2840 bull shit, you can change it." I say as I click on the little button to change my name to my gamer name.

They all nodded as it looks like they changed their names. While they did that I look over the status and see tabs on it and look over the tabs.

Looking over the tabs I click on the Social Net. My status screen closes and a chat room pops up. With nothing said on it I look around and see I have a friends list.

"Well, good news yall, we can add each other as friends and from a group." I say as I click on it and and look for the search friends button and see that I can search them up. Figuring they would go with their names I searched for them.

Once I find all them and add them as a friend and to a group I notice that I can see their status of HP and MP with their names above it. Since I found them and added them, I went to keep looking at the Social Net tab and noticed that there was a {Guild Chat} and that made me smile like a maniac. I click on the guild chat and since I was not in a Guild it said to join one to chat in the chat room and so I click on the ok button and a Guild list popped up. Looking at blank list and I see a create guild button in the middle of the page, I click on the button and I automatically look at the submit button and see it would cost a lot of gold to establish a Guild. A whopping 2.5mil in gold to create it so I close it and remind myself to save up for it.
