CHAPTER 73: What Is The Purpose Of Being Alive?

"That Hedley kid wouldn't be able to do that at all, maybe about a two way control, just like me. But a three way one couldn't be done by him."

"Two way? Three way? Uhmmm what does that mean?" Ridge asked this time.

"You said that when that Phoenix fire came rushing down, you were all enveloped by it, right?" Asherton asked looking at Drake and Willow.

Both of them nodded their heads.

"And the two of you only felt the warmth of the fire. The others shouted in pain because of the hotness of the fire. While Esther had her bandages burned other than feeling the hotness of it."

They all ended up having an enlightened look.

"Her control was even more because Esther's clothes weren't burned but only the bandages. Such control, it is something one could see in a one in ten millions of fire ability users."

Asherton was not exaggerating because he himself knew that even if given time, he wouldn't be able to control it in such a way.

"What's even more frightening is the fact that even if she lost her cool and wished to burn Esther, she was able to inflict the pain without burning her at all. That on itself is what made this even frightening."

Reginald's words resounded in them both in awe and fear.

Willow then remembered how Saphira fought against those knights.

"She..."

Everyone looked at her.

"I had always been afraid of blood after what had happened in the past but yesterday, when she fought them. It was a one man slaughter."

Their breath hitched upon hearing this.

They looked at Willow with worry but there was no disgust in her face at all.

She subconsciously covered her lips, "I don't know how to explain but, Saphira was like a deity dancing amidst the red rain."

Hunter and the rest were shock to hear her speak of such words, she who had feared blood for so long had actually found someone she found aweinspiring amidst the rain of blood.

"I really don't know how to explain it but after you talked about how amazing the thing she did today, made me remember yesterday's event."

Hunter sighed heavily making others look at him this time.

"We were seriouosly mislead by her carefree attitude after meeting up but I just realized something," he then said.

"What is it?"

"The demonic beasts back in that forest of Scorpius Empire were all but level ones. Even those that we passed by were the same. The surrounding forests of Scorpius Empire were filled with nothing but the weakest of Demonic Beasts."

This shocked the heads, at age ten one could train with many a little stronger demonic beasts to improve.

That can slowly grow until they are eighteen but one would never try to train with the higher ones of the Demonic Beasts all on their own.

"And when those three high ranking demonic beasts slipped out of the academy. With such a lackluster sword, she was able to injure them enough that with one attack and I was able to kill them."

"Ah, the former Emperor of that Empire was known as the strongest swordsmaster on the whole land," Reginald said.

In this land, there are three empires and two kingdoms.

Qillian Empire had seven kingdoms under them.

The other two each have two.

Together with the two kingdoms, it was the biggest piece of land in the world.

And for the former emperor of Scorpius Empire being known as the strongest swordmaster meant that he was the strongest among the more than fifteen kingdoms and Empires in that land.

Now her six companions were completely dumbfounded.

She had actually trained under that person?

For the past more than five years?

Hunter took a deep breath and sighed again.

"Hey aren't you too young to be sighing that way?" Asherton couldn't help but to say.

"No, sir. Just that, she had been working double or even triple than we were. We had always thought we are putting enough effort and work but we are still naive."

He wanted to laugh at himself with this kind of thinking.

Come to think of it, even when she gave that training, she herself had been fighting with more than who they were fighting.

The demonic beasts around the kingdom are nothing but ants for her that she really didn't need to raise her sword.

But they were different, they were used to be in the academy following what the academy wants.

They trained within the academy walls only from time to time trying new things.

Drake clenched his hands into fists, she is moving even farther and farther away from him.

At this rate then when?

When will he be able to surpass her and prove himself?

Reginald clapped his hands, "Okay that's enough thinking about that. She is great that is the truth but you must not think of yourselves as inferior instead make it into a goal to reach higher than she can."

Though this is his words even he will have difficulties in believing that anyone could reach the level of perseverance that Saphira had placed into her training.

'I can only go up. If I don't then there is no point. If once again I couldn't protect the people I cared for then what is the purpose of being alive?'

Reginald sighed as the youngsters and the heads dispersed.

Those were Saphira's words before he had sent her away 8 years ago.

For an 8 year old to speak of such words, and the words she imparted with him before her departure.

For her to carry such burden with that little body of hers and still think of doing more. Adding more to what she was already carrying.

He couldn't help but to feel like she was simply made to mature faster than the rest because of the circumstances.

"I really feel sad about you," he sighed looking outside the window.

It's like watching your own child struggle and even though you are aware you couldn't do anything to help her at all.

That is what makes this even more painful for him who could only watch.
