Light sighed as well, "This power is just like that."
She felt apologetic because seriously it feels like there are more negative effect than positive ones.
The air turned gloomy instead of a light atmosphere after finding out that they have better chances in winning.
What is the use of a better chance if Saphira's life could be placed in danger while they won't be able to do anything at all.
"I have spoken of the pros and cons of this power. I just want all of you to be prepared, at the very least you wouldn't be too shock when things don't go the usual way," Saphira chuckled and shrugged.
She too a deep breath before stretching, "Anyway, that's that. This is our current fighting power. But I must commend you Felix, you have improved a lot."
Felix shook his head, "I can only do so because the others aren't slacking at all. What right do I have then to slack off?"
He laughed trying to lighten up the atmosphere that turned gloomy.
It is better to stop thinking about these things and change the topics instead of brooding over it.
Since Saphira have decided to change topic, they should just follow along.
Zian remained silent all this time but he was pained himself.
The whole world relies on these seven to get rid of darkness but they were unaware that more things are going on.
What they only do was to leave the responsibility on their shoulders.
Some had even criticized them, just like the people of this empire when they first arrived.
In the end, what right did they all have?
Were they paying Saphira and the rest?
The pact?
What of it?
If Qillian Empire were to wish for it, they could just leave it behind.
So how dare those people use it to actually enslave these people?
They sit and watch and wait while these seven fight for their lives over and over again.
If they fail, people would speak that they didn't follow the pact and put all the blame to these seven.
If they win, people would speak that it was just right that they win.
Zian couldn't help but to laugh bitterly.
"You guys... are like prisoners of this stupid world."
His words truly shocked Saphira and the rest.
They were used to being bossed around for this mission, used of people expecting them to do just that.
This is the first time that someone had actually bitterly felt that it was so unfair for the seven of them.
Zian didn't elaborate his words but they can tell what he meant by this.
Saphira smiled, "If even just one person were to think that we are doing everything and that we did everything even if we fail. That is more than enough consolation for what we are experiencing and what we will be experiencing."
The others had the look of wanting to cry.
Not even their Empire.
Not even their people.
In reality, not even their family had thought this way.
Everyone thinks that it was the right thing to do.
That they are supposed to serve the whole world.
Hearing someone sympathize with what they were going through, even if that was just a person, it was already great enough to feel that they really were being appreciated.
Stomie cleared her throat stopping the tears from coming out.
Someone suddenly touching such a soft spot in their hearts, it was too sudden.
She then laughed, "That was quite a sudden attack."
Zian blinked and realized that his words had hit them quite hard.
He laughed, "Well, people call you heroes but this empire feels in their heart that you are heroes."
The others chuckled.
Felix was happy for the seven of them.
Hunter and Drake looked to the side.
Nixon rubbed his nose.
Ridge nudged his glasses.
Stormie smiled widely.
Willow fixed her hair.
Saphira smiled sadly.
A smile no one noticed before it disappears and the smile that remained was no longer a sad one.
The only ones who knew were Light and Vermilion Bird.
'Hero...' Vermilion Bird thought before remembering something.
'If one were to call someone a hero the best candidate is not among you...'
'Shut up...' Saphira replied.
"Come to think of it, I noticed you frowning at Chester's body back then. What were you thinking?" Willow decided to change the topic once again.
"Hmmm?"
Saphira though back before replying.
"I was asking Light if we could do some back tracing. You know, using the dark power that remained in Chester to try and see just where could we find the one who revived them using dark power."
"You really are never missing anything no matter how chaotic," Ridge complimented.
Saphira laughed, "We have to use every single thing we could in this battle after all."
Then she sighed, "Yet in the end, it was impossible. Worst come to worst, they might find us instead and launch an all out attack. So I threw that idea away."
She has no desire to welcome such an early trouble.
"How about on your side? The books? The resources?" she asked them.
"We have compiled everything we could. And I think, if you check we may have more chances of starting our barrier plan in this Empire," Hunter explained.
Saphira nodded her head, "That is good. I was planning on using the ability light to incorporate on this barrier. And after asking Light, herself, I got a go signal."
"Will that not cause trouble in your body?" Hunter asked.
Saphira shook her head, "Worst I'll just be drained but I don't think creating a barrier is much more taxing than actually purifying a land-"
She instantly covered her mouth after realizing what she had spoke.
"Purifying?" Hunter squinted his eyes.
Saphira berated herself for being a blabber mouth.
It was fine if she do it in the future and they witness it because she has more power over light.
But she had no desire to tell them that the times she returned pale and drained in the past was due to her eating more than what she can chew.
