She was breathing heavily, "I'm sick and tired of trying to accomodate you for whatever it is that you want. I just want you to leave me alone, why can't you do that? Why can't I have things that I want?"
They were left speechless.
After a few days of travelling together, this is the first time she had shown so much emotion.
As she breath heavily, she was also trembling.
"Even the simplest thing of asking for a rest, why can't I have that? Hmmm? Why?"
They started feeling guilty as what she was saying was the reality.
They had been stopping her from the rest she needed when she was badly injured.
Saphira looked at Elizabeth's eyes then she looked away sighing, her brows furrowed.
It was very very tiring for her already.
She could just accept the whispers in her subconsciousness.
Whispers she had been ignoring for almost ten years already.
That what the people wanted from her? That everything they wished for her to do?
She can't, she just couldn't do it.
The whispers in her head telling her she can't, that she was also weak, she had decisively ignored and rejected it.
She chuckled bitterly after finally accepting it in her heart and mind.
That she COULDN'T do it.
The sound of a chain being released could be heard from her heart.
She looked up in the sky, "I am not strong."
Just like a dam that was finally opened, her tears came flowing out.
She looked back at Elizabeth.
"Don't... ask me for every single thing... as if I am obligated to grant you all of it."
They were speechless.
Saphira once again looked up in the sky, "I can never be strong, I tried. I tried and did my best, like a curse placed on me. But I am.. not..."
The group was even more shock to see the first tears she shed after the tragedy that befall them.
Saphira sighed almost whimpering before returning her eyes to Elizabeth.
"What do you expect from me? Hmmm? What?"
The knights fell silent and all felt as if they did something terrible.
So terrible they felt like apologizing non stop.
Elizabeth was shock to her core.
She didn't expect that the strong woman she had thought would cry like this.
Saphira looked straight in her eyes as more tears fell from her ruby eyes.
"How can you expect me to let go of my final pillar? I have sacrificed so much and given so much but why is it not enough for you?"
Elizabeth shuddered when all she can see was pain in Saphira's eyes.
"I'll go insane," Saphira cried.
She hugged herself not minding the wound on her back opening again or her left arm that is still profiously bleeding.
She was even trembling.
She never thought she would be able to cry again but for the first time in a long while she was crying.
Crying like there's no tomorrow.
"I will go insane if I lose him too."
All this time, it was Hunter who supported her from everything.
Who allowed her to get back up on her feet.
And even after Elizabeth's appearance, after Hunter's attention were halved between the two of them.
She held it in.
Saphira held her chest, "I tried to understand you. To understand your pain and let you be in his care. But it hurts..."
She never said it never hurts, or that she was never bothered.
It was only now that her friends have realized it.
That she never uttered the words that she was fine with it.
She fell on her knees, "It hurts damn much seeing him care for someone else. Seeing him protect someone else. Getting hurt when I thought he was there."
She covered her face with her hands.
"Why?... Why must all of you expect so much?"
She looked up at all of them.
"Why do you expect so much? What more should we give? We lost our childhood, we lost our teenage years. We lost so much but not once did we complain so why?"
All the bottled emotions she didn't realize was there, just came flowing out.
Even the things she kept within her since childhood, everything just came rushing out and she has no control over it at all.
Not knowing that the whole world was aware of it.
When Felix saw her breaking down, he used the gem his father gave him in order to let the whole world see.
Because he wanted the world to see that the heroes they all look up to weren't supposed to be thought of as people who can do everything.
The one they expect to stand strong, breaking down because of all the pressure.
"We are all living people. We aren't as strong as you all want us to be. Please don't ask for more, things we couldn't give. We also REACH OUR GODDAMN LIMITS!!!"
Willow and Stormie was already crying feeling her pain.
Not just them but Drake, Ridge and Nixon were tearing up as well.
"WE HAVE SACRIFICED SO MUCH ALREADY!!! WHY?!?!! WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE ASKING FOR MORE?!?! WHY?!?!!? WHY CAN'T WE HAVE OUR OWN DESIRES FULFILLED?!?! WHY?!?!"
Her why's were all filled with pain and grievance.
In every Empire and Kingdom they've been to, they were tasked and expected to do things.
But every single time they didn't complain.
Every single time, they did their best.
But why must they be asked for more?
Saphira covered her eyes and shouted out loud.
All of the grief that was bottled up came rushing out now that the one stopping her tears from flowing was gone.
She lowered her hands and looked at them.
"We tried... we tried you see. We tried doing our best. Even if we were grieving... grieving for a love one that is lost..."
Willow cried more.
"Even though we were so weak, where we no longer know how to be strong because we lost so much... we kept going."
