CHAPTER 361: You Fought Till The End

Without any clue or evidence, something came to Saphira's mind.

When darkness rises, its nemesis will also rise.

When there is a dark lord leading the dark forces, there will be someone who will lead the force that will fight against it.

And that is light.

Though it still remains a mystery as to why some hosts have the light ability and the others don't. Just that, it is something that would be connected to Vermilion Bird.

"This is impossible," Daly was still not accepting it.

"Is it? A world filled with darkness, filled with magical powers, filled with beasts, was there really something that is impossible in our world?"

"Our world?!? That is not my world."

"No. You are standing in front of me right now. And I will treat you the way I see you and that is a human who stayed in the same world as I did."

"I don't need such a world that does not know how to fight for itself," Daly angrily said.

Saphira could see hatred in her.

Something she had felt before towards the people and towards the world itself.

"How long have you been here before you stopped fighting?" she asked.

"Why does that matter?"

"It matters!!"

Because there is something else that Saphira had thought of.

The reason for Qirin's first host's memory to not be around as well.

Everything is making sense to her now.

They all fell into place.

Those memories, it doesn't seem like they were seen by Vermilion Bird and Qirin before her and Hunter.

It was as if those memories were trying to call out to them.

Daly scoffed, "Are you going to mock me for the time it took before I gave up!!! FINE!!! six months in human time. It took only six months before I gave up."

Saphira thought back to the memories and the amount of power that the person in those memories held.

It was vast but as someone who had experienced the time in this place, that vast amount would actually only give her four months, without food and water.

As people who have mana and power, they can survive longer than normal humans. A small amount of water will give them enough energy to keep going as if they were given an ample amount of food.

Drinking the water in this place won't give you dark energy as the beast bodies she had consumed. It was still water but a dirty one. Something with their power could clean. Though it won't give you the clean water you should consume. You will still fall sick but not to the point of death even if you continuously drink the water you cleaned with your power.

And she did experience it, Saphira would have an upset stomach after three days straight of drinking it.

"You fought till the end."

Daly took a step back, she couldn't understand this person.

"You were the very first light ability user. You were the one who was able to subdue Vermilion Bird and made him an accompanying beast. You were strong, far stronger than most people. To the point that you felt so alone with your immense strength."

Daly took another step back, why is this person speaking like this?

As Daly took a step back, Saphira took a step forward.

"The loneliness of being so strong. Being the one who will lead the heroes into winning the battle against darkness. The times you were able to connect and then disconnect with them, making you float left and right. People depended on you to the point you felt like you had no one to depend on. Friends who fought alongside you and before you realized it, you were already far ahead from them. Until one day, you found all of them looking at you in reverie. They don't fear you but they respect you too much, you realize you no longer have an equal."

"What... are you talking about."

"Then you have decided to close yourself off. To no longer expect anything from anyone."

Daly slowly shook her head, this person, why is she like this? Why isn't she the same as the rest?

"You closed yourself off and fought to the end until..."

Saphira looked up as if she could see everything that was outside, the things she fought with and the darkness that filled the place.

"You were taken down here. Where you truly felt so alone."

"Shut up!!!"

"And what's sadder is the fact that you don't want to accept that you waited for nothing."

Daly struggled but Saphira's hold on her through the light ability was stronger.

She felt like Saphira was insulting her decisions.

"But how can I blame you?"

Day looked at Saphira.

Saphira had a bitter smile, "I once felt that maybe it is better to just be alone. Then I wouldn't be hurt, I wouldn't have any expectations or even have to be disappointed."

Daly stopped struggling and looked at her properly.

"But that is where we are also different."

Daly looked at her in confusion.

"You chose to lock yourself away while I allowed myself to be seen with so much weakness by those whom I treasure. The reason I can still believe in them right now. That they will surely come for me."

"Are you telling me that I should have been weak?"

Saphira shook her head, "I am not telling you to be weak. But I am telling you that you could have shared as well. All those memories of the past we saw, you chose to close yourself more and more. Even though they are ready to support you."

"No I-"

Saphira grabbed hold of her face, "You only see yourself as the victim. And you always pity yourself but have you ever tried? Really tried to be with them?"

Daly had no rebuke, all this time she made herself believe that everything was because she was left all alone.

That she ended up in this state because no one was there for her.

"But you were wrong. Because people loved you. Because someone loved you so much, they came for you. But because you felt so lonely, you chose not to believe."

"What... are you talking about?"

"The light ability users, each user was forgotten from all the memories of the mythological beasts. I realized it is because they became stuck in this place. The light is so bright in the human world that the dark world found them and pulled them here. The same as you and me."

Saphira took a deep breath, "He loved you so much despite all the pushing that you've done. That he came here for you."

"Wha- What nonsense are you talking about? It is impossible for someone to be pulled here other than those who have the light ability?"

"Is it, Daly? Is it really impossible? In the world we live in, is it really impossible?"

Daly shook her head, she did not want to believe her.

"Look into my eyes, Daly. All the mythological beasts memories on Qirin's first host were gone. No one can remember him. Not a single one."

Daly covered her mouth as tears fell down her eyes.

"No... No... He didn't... He shouldn't have..."

"For all we know, he could still be out here, wishing to meet you again."

"But even I am-"

"You have fallen into darkness indeed but that is only because you gave up but what if he didn't?"

"Stop making some nonsensical assumptions."

Saphira shook her head and looked up, as if seeing the outside of where they currently are.

"In a world filled with nothing but darkness, from time to time I am feeling a different energy. An energy I couldn't describe as light energy but I can never call it dark energy either."

She looked back at Daly, "Understanding your identity and putting all the pieces together. I have more than fifty percent confidence that he is still out there. Fighting all on his own."

"But it has already been thousands of years," Daly found herself communicating properly with Saphira, without the feeling of madness.

"Time here flows differently. We can never say for sure that one would age even if they fight for their lives for thousands and thousands of years."

Daly blinked, "What if you disappoint me again? I don't think I would be able to have a clear mind then, I might attack you like those monsters, turning just like them. Why are you saying this to me?"

"Because you deserve to have hope. To believe that there are people whom you can lean on. Something you deprive yourself of before. And something I wish for you to have," Saphira replied with a smile.

A smile that Daly felt like, was too bright for her eyes that had seen nothing but darkness all this time.

She closed her eyes and accepted Saphira's words.

She took a deep breath and when she opened them again, it already had a different gleam on it.

"First and foremost, I am not Daly but I am Nathalia. Second, what do you mean about Lily? And by saying I look like her?"

Saphira blinked, she can see that she was able to get through Daly- no Nathalia.

"If I knew you'd come around at the mention of him I would have spoken of him from the get go."

"Shut up."

"Harsh," Saphira pouted.

Nathalia looked at her, the mention of that person was enough to snap her out of her anger and loneliness.

But what brought about the cracks that allowed Saphira to snap her out of everything was the way she faced her head on.

Speaking of things that only those who experienced loneliness, that only those who have the same power as them will ever understand.

With great power does not only come with great responsibility but great loneliness as well.
