Death of an Obstacle

Ever since that day, he hadn't been himself. His recent self had become a shadow of his existence. He often wondered if he had been dreaming on the day the incident happened, or maybe he had suffered a mental breakdown. But he knew none of that happened. The whole incident was actual. Or it might had been confirmed.

He had been speaking with the man he had assigned to complete a particular task for him. A mission to eliminate his biggest competition, and the man had failed again. The moment he knew something odd was going on was when the man had mentioned something about the supposed rival being with them, right in the office, he was presently sitting in.

His whole paranoia had increased when the man had disappeared right before his eyes, or so he thought. The worst-case scenario was when he had called his bodyguards to inform them about the disappearance of the man. And when he had told them that, the stares he had received proved something was off.
