Richard stepped forward to confront the tentacle.
The tentacle rested on the edge of the deck, approximately two meters in length but weighed hundreds of pounds.
As Richard approached, he observed the tentacle.
Calling it a tentacle was not entirely accurate—it was, in fact, more like the shorter tentacle of a squid, known as an arm. It didn't have suction cups but was covered with hooks over ten centimeters long, similar to the modern Earth's mutated Giant Gun Squid, or the Giant King Squid.
Richard touched the surface of the arm, feeling its extreme elasticity. He pushed against it while observing more details, trying to find the "something worth a giant squid's relentless pursuit."
By the time he pushed it to the end of the deck, Richard noticed what seemed like a thin thread wrapped around one of the hooks. Tugging at it, he drew out a segment of the thread covered in blood and mucus, with something entangled at its end.
