Inbellis Evolves!

As Roy sat in the bushes, he was lightly shuffling, trying to fix the now too short and tight pants.

'Ugh, looks like I need to make adjustments to the pants. Though I can't make it longer without material...' Thinking about his new clothes that were already too small, Roy frowned slightly. He figured that he would grow fast, due to being related to a pig, but he didn't think evolution would make a still infant creature grow 6 inches.

'Seems I need to plan any future gear to compensate my growth speed.' As Roy began his next train of thought, the footsteps had come to a stop.

"Everyone, halt!" Tilok screamed from the center of his platoon. He, as well as the other goblins noticed the small pile of goblins ahead of them.

"Whatever did this wasn't much stronger than them, though strong enough to avoid injury. Even though they won, there are multiple injuries on each goblin. From the marks it seems to be a kobold as well. Might be a friend of the ones we captured..." Ilk observed the scene and took in all the information he could.

"There also might be more than one, the wounds earlier were done cleanly for the most part. One hit to the neck. Doesn't seem to be the same killer." Ilk finished his thoughts and turned to look at Tilok.

"Exactly my line of thought, you are smarter than you look, Ilk." Tilok stated unabashedly.

Ilk looked at this trash and scowled. Knowing full well that this fool was too scared to even get close enough to observe the bodies.

'I can't wait to torture this fuck to death...' Ilk thought as he planned in his head exactly which torture methods he would employ.

"Come everyone, search the area in the same groups as before! Leave no stone unturned!" After Tilok gave his orders, all the goblins in the remaining four groups fanned out. Group one led by Tilok went north, while two other groups went east and west. The last group traveled between the east and north groups.

"I can't believe Nabik designated him the temporary leader! That coward always takes the strongest of us with him to protect himself. He even got one of our search parties killed. Nabik might just kill all of us out of anger if we return without news of the killers..."

*Swoosh*

As the goblin in the back of the group was loudly complaining, a light swoosh sound was heard. As the other three goblins turned around, the saw the bloody scene of a small orc, around 3/4 a goblin in length, decapitate their teammate. Soon, a bloody fountain was created. The distracted goblins stood no chance as they were shocked to disbelief. Even in their final breath they wouldn't have expected such a small orc was the one they were looking for!

*Whew*

'There goes the left most party, I have to be careful not to trigger a fight with that strong goblin until the end. There is no way I can win against it if I have to fight that many at once.' Roy was really worried. The goblin he had seen a bit ago was the highest level goblin he had ever seen, sitting at a solid nineteen. Even if orc bodies were naturally stronger than goblins, he was still an orclet. That goblin had at least over ninety strength, almost five times higher than Roy's!

'I have to play this carefully. This one probably isn't even the strongest of the lot. I don't know why it's following the orders of that level four goblin, but it might be a designated leader... meaning there was an existence in that cave stronger than the level nineteen and forcing it to obey.' Roy considered this highly likely, as that goblin seemed very unhappy following the orders of that level four. Cold sweat began dripping down his back, imagining the strength needed to make a creature that strong submit.

'System show my system log for me.'

'Nineteen EXP left for Inbellis... Need to be careful then, next group I kill, he evolves.' Roy thought as he carefully made his way over to the next group on the right end.

...

Not being able to risk any noise with this group, as there was another close by, Roy asked Solus to join him.

Sneaking up directly behind the group, Roy grabbed the mouth of the furthest back goblin. He quickly and efficiently sliced its neck, before moving on to the next one. As he dealt with his two, Solus rushed up and stabbed her claws into the backs of the two goblins. Not even getting a chance to scream, she lifted them off the ground and slammed their limp bodies right back down.

Their heads hit the ground first, causing the neck to break instantly. She yanked her hands out of their bleeding chests. Her hands were covered in an emerald green color, as she looked at them her face cringed in disgust at the rank smell it emitted.

"Buhihihi! Goblins really do stink inside and out huh? After we finish saving those kobolds let's take a nice bath in the river Solus." Roy told Solus in an attempt to comfort the poor kobold who had no weapon but her own claws.

*Whimper*

She leaned her head near Roy and he pat it a few times while looking at the system log...

[Lesser Pill Bug Inbellis Evolving]

{Evolutionary Choices}

Pill Bug

Lesser Shielded Isopod

Lesser Quick Isopod

'System show me details on lesser isopod options.' Roy requested.

{Info}

[Lesser Shielded Isopod]

Armored Isopod

Exoskeleton of the Isopod becomes far stronger, allowing it to take a beating.

As a lesser being, the exoskeleton does not give much extra protection. It can now withstand the attacks of regular insects, but anything more than that will surpass its defense. Next evolution can become a Shielded Isopod directly, gaining a more robust exoskeleton.

+1 Defense

+1 Str per level

[Lesser Quick Isopod]

Quick Footed Isopod

Focused on speed, this Isopod can become much faster thanks to the skill [Quick Footed] giving a 10% speed boost.

As a lesser being, the benefits of [Quick Footed] are lacking. As an agility based creature, mana is not given on level up, and [Quick Footed] Requires 1 mana a second to use. Next evolution can become a Quick Isopod directly, gaining intelligence and agility on level ups.

[Skill: Quick Footed]

+1 Agi per level

'Hmm, I quite like the idea of making Inbellis tougher. I always worry about hurting it, not to mention that Lesser Quick Isopod kinda sucks... I don't need a scout, and even if I did, there is no two way communication between us in order to tell me what it sees. Alright I choose Lesser Shielded Isopod.' Roy told the system.

Soon, Roy could feel the warmth of the cocoon radiate out of his pelt backpack. The cocoon wrapped around Inbellis, protecting it during the process.
