Training (Part 3)

Everyone is born with Harmony.

Everyone's Harmony is unique to them.

Some have more than others.

Some have better control than others.

Some can shape theirs into spells.

But everyone's Harmony works the same. The more powerful a Conduit, the more powerful the Harmony. The stronger the Harmony, the stronger the Conduit. And different Conduit's change different Harmony's.

Axel for example. His silver eye mixed with his Harmony can create a special power unique to him. A power that only he can use, a power so strong that it defies logic and reasoning. But if he were to use a different Conduit, that power would change.

Tenosu held out his wooden sword. He handed it over to Gen.

"There are two types. Of Conduits." (Tenosu)

Love Conduits, and Universal Conduits.

"There are three types. Of Harmony." (Tenosu)

Gene Harmony, Magic Harmony, and X Harmony.

Gene Harmony is Harmony passed down through family and lineage. It is most common among the population, where high-end affluent families are built upon their unique and powerful Harmony. For example, Joshua's Harmony is passed down through his family and genes. But his power may differ depending on his, birth, circumstances, and Conduit.

Magic Harmony is the ability to take natural Harmony from within and turn it into spells. These types of Harmony users don't have any specific family lineage so their natural ability is limited to their creativity and the amount of energy inside their bodies. For example, Mel would be a Magic Harmony user or a Magician for short. She can create multiple useful spells, and she can even combine them into more powerful ones.

X Harmony is neither Gene Harmony nor Magic Harmony. It is something entirely different and unique to the person who controls it. It is a catastrophic mind-bending power that breaks all bounds of thought and mind. And any Harmony user who has X Harmony is beyond human nature. Most X Harmony users are categorized as S-Rank or above. For example, someone who would fit this would be Zwine since his Harmony is something unknown and uncategorizable to the Guild and anyone who comes in contact with it.

Tenosu sat up in his chair he looked over his five students.

"And the final Harmony. Is Curse Harmony. But I will talk about that. Another time." (Tenosu)

Axel's brain exploded with information. He fell back in his chair staring up at the ceiling in confusion.

"Over the last. Two days. You five. Have made tremendous. Progress. But now your training. Has reached. Its climax." (Tenosu)

Gen leaned forward holding Tenosu's wooden sword tight between her hands. Pon looked up with intrigue and wonder.

Tenosu looked around the cabin he looked at their faces, at the ones who wanted to know at the ones who wanted to learn. He placed a white crystal on the small side table.

"Now you will figure out. What type of Harmony. You have." (Tenosu)

He placed the white crystal in front of Pon.

"Channel your Harmony." (Tenosu)

Pon placed his palm over the top of the pointed crystal. He closed his eyes and channeled his Harmony through it.

A red storm slowly formed inside, orange thunder and lightning blasting across the mounted heavens.

"What is it doing?" (Pon)

"It is isolating your. Raw Harmony." (Tenosu)

"Cool it looks crazy in there... So what is my Harmony?" (Pon)

"Now take out. Your Conduit." (Tenosu)

Pon pulled out his bronzed inc pen and held it tight in his left hand.

"Use what you have learned. Channel your Harmony. Through your Conduit. And into the crystal." (Tenosu)

Pon did just that. His Harmony begun to shape, turn, morph. The red thunder shaping into tornados of crimson. Thunder turning into explosions of light and flashes of snow.

"Your Harmony is unique. But nothing extraordinary. You are a. Gene Harmony user." (Tenosu)

Gen put her hand on the crystal. Silent green waves bounced inside, in circles, ovals, back and forth they bounced from wall to wall. She channeled her Harmony through her Conduit and the waves turned into blips, switching in and out, on and off, teleporting across the inside of the crystal.

"What is it? All I hear is ringing?" (Gen)

"You are like Pon. You are a. Gene Harmony user." (Tenosu)

Gilbert placed his hand firmly on the crystal. Loud explosions erupted from inside. Red and orange explosions happening one after another, chain reactions. He channeled his engraved sword and the explosions turned to red strings.

"What happened to the explosions?" (Pon)

"Did it stop, Tenosu?" (Gilbert)

"No. Look closely. Red strings." (Tenosu)

Everyone leaned in close. They saw tiny red strings that hung from end to end. The inside of the crystal forming an almost invisible spider web.

"You are also. A Gene Harmony user." (Tenosu)

Joshua stepped up to the small table in the center of the room. He looked up at the old bald man with the long white beard.

"Am I just going to be a Gene Harmony user as well?" (Joshua)

"Most likely." (Tenosu)

"Ok..." (Joshua)

Joshua placed his hand firmly on the crystal. The crystal shook, it filled with water, more and more and more, overflowing, overflowing, the crystal cracked. Tenosu pulled it away from Joshua.

"Stop." (Tenosu)

"What did I do?" (Joshua)

"Channel your Harmony. Don't force it. Channel it. Use what you have learned." (Tenosu)

He placed it back on the table. Joshua took a deep breath and slowly placed his hand over the crystal. He closed his eyes. He imagined small droplets, a flowing river blocked by a dam. He imagined a small crack in the dam, small droplets flowing from the crack. he imaged the small droplet falling, father and father.

He imagined.

A small droplet of water dropping into the crystal.

"Now. Your Conduit." (Tenosu)

He pulled out his father's picture frame, he held it close to his chest. He opened his eyes. he looked close, he saw a small droplet in the lear crystal.

The droplet turned into a hand. The hand reaching out to the sky. Another droplet. The hand grew. Taller and taller. Another droplet after droplet. The hand turned into an arm, into a body, a head, legs. A person made out of water stood inside the crystal. The water person looked up at Joshua. It turned into Joshua, it turned into Axel, then into Gen, then into Tenosu.

"That's scary." (Pon)

"It's looking right at us." (Gen)

Joshua took his hand off. The water person evaporated. Tenosu's face looked amazed and stunned but he quickly fell back to his usual strict old man face.

"You have potential. Joshua." (Tenosu)

Joshua looked at his father's portrait.

"Thanks..." (Joshua)

He smiled and sat back in line.

The last person walked up to the table. He stood with his singular silver eye.

"Remember two days ago. When you said my eye wasn't a Conduit." (Axel)

"Yes." (Tenosu)

Axel touched the crystal. A short white burst of light. The crystal disappeared from thin air. He looked up at Tenosu.

"How about now?" (Axel)

"That eye. Is no Conduit." (Tenosu)

Everyone stood up and rushed over to the table.

"Axel where did it go?" (Pon)

"That's crazy!" (Gen)

"Is he an X Harmony user?" (Gilbert)

Joshua sat down, he stared at the missing crystal. Axel looked up at Tenosu as he walked to a door in the back of the cabin.

"You two follow me." (Tenosu)

"Us?" (Pon)

He pointed at Axel and Joshua.

"The rest of you. Practice your Harmony control." (Tenosu)

The room was dark and musty. A single candlelight shine in the center of the room. Tenosu stood staring at the wooden wall, his bald head reflecting the soft glow.

"You two. Your Harmony. Is not something normal." (Tenosu)

"What do you mean?" (Joshua)

"Axel you. You are. You... You're... Axel, you're Harmony is beyond my knowledge. I'd say you are an X Harmony user. And Joshua... You are a special case. Your Harmony seems to stem from your family's genes. But your Conduit changes your innate nature. It gives you the ability of a Magic Harmony user and a Gene Harmony user. I'd say, you're also an X Harmony user." (Tenosu)

Joshua turned to Axel in the dark.

"Is he talking in full sentences, or is that just me? (Joshua)

"No, he does that sometimes." (Axel)

"Weird." (Joshua)

Tenosu walked up, his face silhouetted in the short yellow glow of the candlelight.

"Axel there is nothing I can teach you anymore. You are done here. There is nothing I know that you can't achieve on your own. However, Joshua... I would like to personally train you." (Tenosu)

Joshua bowed.

"I would be honored." (Joshua)

Axel looked back at the door.

"So can I leave?" (Axel)

The morning turned to dusk. Axel stood outside of Mel's house. He knocked on the front door.

"Come in!" (Mel)

He walked in. Mel looked at him with a disgusted stare.

"Why are you back so early?" (Mel)

"It was too easy." (Axel)

Mel picked up a heavy crate and placed it on the table.

"Well, what did you do? How did Gen do?" (Mel)

"Fine." (Axel)

Axel walked over to the other five boxes surrounding the front door.

"What is this?" (Axel)

"Just some supplies for a mission." (Mel)

Axel picked up a crate and carried it over to the table.

"Did you learn anything? Anything new? Did you learn how to control your Harmony?" (Mel)

He slumped onto a chair, his head hanging off the backside, dangling and swaying. Mel leaned over him, staring with a smile.

"Was it fun?" (Mel)

Their faces ten inches apart, he looked up at her. He remembered the two days of training. Tenosu's annoying slowed speech, Gen's reluctance to be proud of herself, Pon's arrogance, Gilbert's egotistical look of himself, Joshua's natural talent, his perfect destiny.

He remembered Mel's question.

"Was it fun?" (Mel)

"Nope." (Axel)
