Sixteen year old Alexandra Gryffiths knows that fate seems to hate her. Her father died when she was young, her step dad is an alcoholic, and her mother...last words either make sense, or they don't.

All of this changes one fateful day when Alexandra comes home from school late and has to stumble through the window of her late father's study, where it seems like even the impossible has old ties connected to it.

Alexandra finds herself in a fantasy world where nothing seems to make sense. From sea-serpents to elves; from red-eyed wolves to blushing princes; and from Raven Kings to sarcastic birds; Alexandra sure seems to be traped in a land that's just a pretty mask covering a gruesome face.

With the arena trials on the horizon, and the harnessing of long lost powers, Allie must overcome a looming darkness, or be embraced by it.
