Chapter 18

Doris is so hooked to her phone that she didn't know when someone entered the laboratory, she jerked and dropped the phone when she felt a hand on her shoulders. The scent was unmistakable.

"Dr. Richmond?" She gasped still facing away from him.

"You're all tensed up Doris." He half whispered, one of his hands still rubbing her shoulders, he bent down and picked up the phone.

"It's not what you think doctor; I was just trying to help out. I mean, this guy didn't do anything." Doris launched into a babble of explanation, she could almost hear her heart thumping loudly through the lab coat and despite the cold temperature of the laboratory, beads of sweat were forming on her forehead.

Her father could get really angry and she just pray he doesn't have one of those scary mood swings she had experienced once before, the experience was still fresh in her memory; she had just turned eighteen then and they were back home in Los Angeles.
