Training

Acting purely on instinct I turned around stretching my hands forward and closing my eyes waiting for the impact but it never came.

I opened my eyes looking for where the icicle impaled in my body but found nothing but saw dazed faces looking at me.

"What just happened?" I asked curiously.

"Um I think you just used one of your elements" she said in an excited tone.

"Yeah but which one?" I ask for clarification.

"Darkness" Jane said in foreboding tone.

"Why did you just say that like it's a bad thing?" I asked her with a fear laced voice.

"Because it's one of the rarest element for a rider to have and also one of the most dangerous element" My aunt said.

"And why is that?" I ask.

"Because it's very difficult to control" this time it was the other twin Eliza who talked.

"Okay then I guess I have to learn how to control it then" I said as I was leaving the training ground.

"Where are you going?" they all asked me the same question one after the other and I gave them the same answer.

"To the Library."

I walked into the library and browsed the catalogs for any books concerning control and unlocking of any element.

After hours of research, I took the books for more research and left the library to grab dinner

The next day I tried doing one of the meditation exercise one of the books stated in unlocking powers.

In that book it said elements are to be unlocked depending on the person's emotions or behavior. For instance, if a person is angry then he/she is more likely to unlock the fire element. In some other cases elements can be unlocked if the person is in danger like what happened to me yesterday on the training ground.

Now I'm trying to unlock my earth element and it seems that I'm not getting the process well.

I was deep in state of confusion when I heard one of my siblings behind me. 'Seriously what's with people of this world startling people'

"Maybe I can help you with that" Jane offered to help meditate.

With nothing to lose I accepted and I started from the beginning only this time I was getting better.

She was reading the technique to me like an instruction to follow and in doing so I was one step closer to unlock the earth element.

"Feel the earth as your one body"

"Become one with the earth"

"Accept the change that comes with it"

After following the last step my whole body went rigid for few moments before I doubled over on all fours in pain.

I embraced the pain and thankfully it didn't last that long because after that pain something inside my body crack open like water from rock and consumed me.

After that I opened my eyes to find Jane looking at me with her eyes almost bulging out of surprise.

"What?" I asked her.

"Well you might want to take a look at the mirror before asking me that question again" she said in a bewildered tone.

She used her powers to create a crystal mirror for me to take a look at myself. I looked at the mirror and the girl looking at me wasn't me but an improved version of me.

My usual dark brown colored hair was now in ginger color, my eye with brown colored orbs was now bright green and to top it all some sort of crown made out of flowers and tree stood on my head.

"Try to control that vine over there" Jane asked with anxious tone.

I concentrated and focused into bending the vine and just like it was under my control it responded to my every control.

"Wow" she said excitedly.

After more and more practice of my newly unlocked element, we headed back to the castle for dinner.

The next day I trained even more harder and got better at controlling my powers. The same routine was followed by me and I got even better than I was at fighting and mastering my powers and before I knew it the week was over before I knew it and it was time for the four of us to go back to the academy.

We arrived at the academy and we went back to our usual activities which was acting like we didn't know each other to avoid any suspicions.

I entered to grab my schedule to know my classes then I saw that my schedule has changed.

I went over to the headmistress to know if this was a mistake of any kind.

I knocked on the door of her office before walking in to see her. I saw her tending to some paperwork, when she saw me she offered a seat before I could talk.

"So Aurora may I ask why you are here?" she asks while continuing her work.

"Well I would like to ask why my schedule is different than the former one?" I asked her.

"Is this some sort of mistake?"

"No I can assure this is no mistake. When we accepted you in request by the grand duchess she asked for you to be placed in the first year class for the time being. And considering you age we decided with what you have learnt with the first year students we think it's best for you to put in your normal classes." She explained.

"But what about the other students?" I asked curiously.

"All will be taken care of dear. Any more questions?" she asks.

"No ma'am" I answered as I headed for the door.

'That's weird'

After my ordeal with head mistress I head to my fist class. Seeing that I would be in the third year most of classes were different. And my first different class would be 'ALCHEMY'.

I knocked on the door of the class and entered. As I entered the whole class went silent and the teacher introduced me to the class.

"Alright students, today we have a new transfer student," some people were hyped, while a small had some suspicions raised. It wasn't normal for any transfer student to arrive at this time of the year, let alone a semester. "Please welcome Aurora Crimson".

At the sound of my name I walked into class with my new colored ginger hair in a neat pony tail. My eyes darted around everyone in the class until I found a seat near a girl with pitch black hair at the back.

With a smile etched on my face, I made my way up to her sitting next to her.

"Nice to meet you Aurora I'm Jasmine" she whispered, I smiled back at her.

"Nice to meet you too" I joked, she rolled her eyes with a smile as she listened to the teacher.

After two of mixing herbs and mixing potions class was finally over and we made our way to the next class.

We changed into our gym clothes for combat classes and headed out to the field. The cool autumn breeze made Aurora's hair fly out place, making her put her in a high pony tail.

A teacher with platinum blond hair walked out of the school with a silver whistle on her neck. Her hair was cut like a man's and she has faint smile wrinkles on her face.

"Today class we're going to be learning about hand to hand combat. We're going to be working in pairs so hurry up and choose your partners. Lots of girls came up to Jasmine, but she kept telling them that she already has a partner. Me, on the other hand was asking people to be my partner, and everyone I asked replied with a simple 'no' or 'already have one'.

Just as I was going to pair up with the teacher, a warm hand touched my shoulder. I raised my head to see who it was and I was greeted with a smile that I saw not quit long ago in alchemy class.

"Where are you going to partner?" Jasmine asked with a kind smile. Being a little taller than me, she blocked out the sun from my eyes and it made Jasmine's face glow. I smiled and stood beside Jasmine as she waited for the teacher instructions.
