She led him towards the building as she said "I wouldn't be out here if I were you. You know many people are already putting bounties on your head, right?"
"Well, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't necessary" he replied as the two walk on towards the upper floors of the building.
"You know someone here?" she asked looking suspiciously at him.
"I know everyone here. What happened here?" he asked seriously.
"How'd you know something went on here?" she questioned ignoring his question. She went on to say "The news teams just arrived and haven't even set up their instruments to start reporting. Clearly it wasn't on the news you saw this"
He was silent for a moment before saying "I was informed via a phone call by an unknown person". She looked at him with a questioning look. He seemed to realise what she was thinking so he said "I have no idea who it was. When I heard the news, I had to rush and didn't have time to ask any questions"
"It's hard to believe you are the same person who beat the prime minister's son to a pulp. You know, I should have been arresting you right now"
"Then why aren't you?"
"Let's just say you don't seem like the kind of person to do that and also because investigations are still going on about the authenticity of that footage, also because I have a few questions of my own to ask" she paused for a moment and went on "You said you knew everyone here, how'd you manage that?"
"I grew up here so you could more or less say I have a responsibility to take care of them as they did me"
"So, I can assume you provide for them, like food and all right?" They reached the fifth floor and made their way towards one of the rooms there.
"You could say that"
"When was the last time you sent supplies to them?" She asked suddenly coming to a halt.
"That should be two days ago"
Rebecca frowned and stepped away as her phone rang. After two minutes, she comes back looking very cold. Her smile had morphed into a deep frown as she peered at Akira like a great sinner.
"I'm sorry Akira but our conversation ends here." She said as she takes out handcuffs to restrain him. "You are under arrest for the assault on the prime minister's son and for the poisoning of this orphanage. Anything you can and would be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney and if you can't afford one, Camcot city would provide you one" she said coldly before signalling for him to be taken away.
Akira looked at her with a smile still on his face. He looked like he wanted to say something but ultimately decided against that. Seeing the woman's cold but conflicted face, he knew it was only a matter of time before his innocence was proven.
The incidents involving Akira were all seared deeply in the minds of the people of Camcot. Many hated his guts for it. Those who wanted to see his downfall took advantage of the situation and spread even wilder rumours about him which further soured his relationship with many.
Back at Yesana labs, Rochester was not having a good time at all. After hearing about Akira's arrest, he was devastated. He could not live with how powerless he was to help his friend now that he needed him the most. While he was reeling in a state of helplessness, the director walked into his office.
"Got a moment?" he coldly asked as he stared at Rochester.
Rochester snapped out of his daze sighs helplessly. "Yeah, I think I got a minute or two"
"That's good enough for me so I will keep it short. Within a couple of hours, you have already seen what's going on. Not only is Akira's name being dragged in the mud but so is this facility. I have got multi calls and messages from various partners and cooperate bodies calling for Akira's resignation. I have tried to ignore them but ultimately some had threatened to abandon us if…"
Listening to him speak was nerve wrecking for Rochester so he cut him off before he could talk any further. He looked at him and coldly said "Just get straight to the point director. What do you want?"
He reluctantly passed him a letter and said "Please pass this to Akira. He is officially no longer one of us. He can come pick up his stuff whenever."
Rochester was very annoyed he almost bit his tongue in annoyance. "So, you are firing a good man because of this facility's fucking reputation? Or are you just trying to save your own ass from insults?"
"It's not personal Rochester. It's just business and you…"
"I have heard you director; I will be sure to inform him. Please leave my office." He was so angry he didn't want to tolerate the director's presence any longer. He gave him an angry stare which prompted the director to leave without saying anything more. When he reached the door, he said "His stuff…"
"I will deliver then to his house tonight director. No need to concern yourself about it any longer. Just don't regret your decision later on." he plainly said not trying to hide how angry he was. The director proceeded out with a sigh.
As soon as the door slammed close, Rochester roared and scattered everything on his desk across the office sending documents flying all over.
With a wry smile he said "That damn old man, it didn't take him long to flip like the leaf of a book. Pretending he loves people when all he cares about is his own selfish gains. I bet he received quite a lot of money to fire Akira. That cheap prick". He tidied his clothes and stepped out of the office going towards Akira's desk to pick up his stuff.
