Family Missions

Alex was currently in his room, sitting on his desk. He was trying to think of a way to completely cut himself from the family because after today's incident, It was going to be hard for him to progress without going through harassment from the family. He was now a disowned son, meaning that the main family would openly show their animosity for him.

But he couldn't find a way. He was too weak to force them to leave him alone. Everything that happened today, he had completely been outplayed by his mother.

"I'll have to start preparing myself for the worst. Time to take on some hunting missions."

He didn't have time. He needed to improve as soon as possible. Also, he needed AP to unlock weapons master.

He got up from his seat in a hurry. The next course of action would be to start now.

"Alice, come on in."

Alice had been the most devastated after the whole event. She knew that her mistress wanted Alex to work differently from the family, so she was not all that surprised when that happened. But when she said that he had been disowned, Alice realized that there was no way Alex was ever going to be the leader of the family, which was a huge blow for her. That was her only way to prove herself to the mistress, in her mind. She still gave up her title of family head to him, just because she needed to make sure that he was tied down to them.

She entered the room, with a stoic expression on her face. There needed to be a change of plans.

"Pick a mission. We need to get this problem sorted out as soon as possible."

Alice nodded in approval. They didn't have time to mope around and lament what has been lost.

The next day-

Alex frowned. He had asked Alice to pick a mission, but his mother had already been a step ahead of them and issued one to them herself.

"The target is currently in Ukraine. This time, it's a straight kill mission. No Hostages, no survivors. At least 500 people to kill along with the target. Target is a military general in favor of rebelling against the government to establish martial rule over the country."

Name-Fedir Kozel, aged 52. Currently leader of a popular rebel group inside of the Ukrainian military. Specializes in longe range sniping, exceptional network among peers, and born a natural leader. His comrades trust him with his life, so bribing them is not an option. The Ukrainian military has granted permission to engage in confrontation.

Time limit, 1 month. The uprising is taking a turn for the worst, with momentum favoring Fedir. If not culled immediately, it may result in the overthrowing of the government.

Alex continued reading the file. This was practically a suicide mission. By the looks of it, he had to route a freaking military platoon while not exposing himself to keep their names out of international conflict.

"Alice, tell the representative from the main family to inform my mother that we have accepted this mission."

Alice nodded and left. She had no time to waste.

"There is a lot of work to be done, so let's figure out a plan first."

Scouting was provided by the main family, so he didn't have to worry about that this time around. But all of the people from the Kramer household had to participate in this mission.

"She really is heartless."

----------------------------------------------------

On the other side of the family, Ronald was coming to terms with the fact that his son had just been disowned. Because Kane was more affectionate towards his father, he didn't hesitate to open his mouth in front of him. Alex had even more potential than Kane and was on par with the best prodigies of other families despite starting late.

Sylvia had helped to form a diamond, and now she made him off-limits for anyone but herself.

He knew that she wouldn't allow him to go anywhere near the main family. One of the conditions that she had brought up before marrying him was that he had to let go of anyone that she had her eyes on, regardless of their worth to the family. He had been relieved that she had chosen Alex because he had always been paranoid about losing Kane to her selfish objectives. But now that Alex had proven himself, he was lamenting ever marrying her.

With anger on his face, he stormed towards her room. There, his wife was sitting, sipping on some freshly brewed tea.

"Why do you need to do this to me? Is tormenting me like this what you get off on?"

Sylvia didn't even look at him. She was still sipping on her tea, without acknowledging his existence.

She then sighed, and said, "You wanted to throw him out. Ever since that moment, I had made up my mind about not letting him be used by you."

He snorted. "So if you use him to fulfill your sadistic desires, that's fine? I thought that even you wanted a leader that could take our family forward after me. What changed?"

"You already have a son that is qualified to do so. I don't want to discuss this any further. If he was to be shackled by your responsibilities, he would just end up becoming another you, which won't be happening unless I die. He is going to be like him, and not you!"

Sylvia pointed towards the painting of the ancestor that started it all, Chris Curran. She had always dreamed that one day she would be associated with someone as good as him because she herself was not able to reach those heights in her prime. Her dream had been shattered time and time again, but this time, she would rather kill the person trying to come between herself and her aspiration, even if it was the person standing in front of her.

Hearing those words, Ronald started grinding his teeth in anger.

'It always comes down to him. Always him. Always him. Always him. Always him!'

He had been compared with that damned person his entire life. Expectations that were almost not even logical, and a life that asked him to be responsible for everything, even shit that he didn't want to be associated with. The shadow that had been cast was too big for him to surpass, which further burdened him to be more than what he was before, and even now. If he could erase one person from existence, it would be him.

"I hope you don't regret this. Even if I don't like him, I will still root for him to destroy your illusion of that person, to show that most of what he did, was made up."

"Don't worry. You know me the best, darling. I will never give up until I have completely lost."

She smiled and looked at her husband with a glint in her eyes. It was her time to prove everyone wrong.
