A Flaw In Everything.

Alex was standing in the square, panting. he had bruises all over his body, and his arms and legs felt numb. Lucius had asked him to leave the square time and time again, but he was adamant. He wasn't leaving the ground till the time he either dodged or fainted.

As of now, the entire Grey family, including the assassins from the school, were at the spectating stands of the ground, looking at him. What he was doing, was something only a maniac could withstand at the age of 10.

Exhausted, Alex was about to throw in the towel. His vision was blurry, and his body had been beaten black and blue. Hard tennis balls still hurt, and he felt as if he could collapse any second.

"It is probably the last round." Clara, who was monitoring his heartbeat, was sure that he couldn't take it any longer. Jane and Claudia, who had moved past their previous differences, nodded their heads in agreement.

Steven, on the other hand, had stars in his eyes. This was what a hero was supposed to look like. Alex had been a real inspiration for him, and as a person who was not suited to be an assassin, he had to make up for it with his intellect. That machine that he was currently going against, was made by him when he was 3, without any guidance.

Nevertheless, as a kid himself, he was starstruck with what Alex could do. He felt like it was a shonen manga, in which the protagonist had to climb from the deaths to become the strongest person when he looked at Alex. What he didn't know, was that this was an Isekai novel with a system tag.

Alex started to way his options. What could he do? Control was inefficient, his reflexes had been trained with the sole purpose of defending rather than dodging. His mind was all over the place, so it didn't work.

"System, how much fatigue have I accumulated?"

"800. The system advises the User to rest immediately."

Alex smiled. This was the only way. He had to do this.

"3...2...1...Go!"

"Use A Fatal flaw."

The time around him slowed. Well, not actually, but still, he felt as if time had frozen. His body felt sluggish, and his senses had been stretched apart to encapsulate everything. He could see the trajectory of all the balls, but his body was still too slow to respond.

"I won't let it end like this."

He used all his remaining strength to move his body, and he was now facing all the balls upfront. Three balls were going to hit him, with less than 1 second to impact. One towards his chest, one towards his left hand, and one towards his neck. Alex smiled. He still wouldn't be able to make it. he wasn't going to be able to dodge the one aimed at his left arm. He had to block it.

"A fatal flaw activated."

Alex decided to use Kwan Sau, a blocking move from Wing Chun to block, but this resulted in it something miraculous. His arm was a bit faster than normal, and his senses helped him to increase his control for a millisecond. He was able to move his arm away from the ball win time, but it still grazed him, and continued down its path, passing away from the square.

He did it. It took all his energy to execute that last move, so he fell to the ground. He wasn't unconscious, just exhausted.

"Mission 'A flaw in everything' completed. 13000 exp gained, 10000 proficiency points gained for the unique skill, a fatal flaw."

He had a smile on his face, while it was planted on the ground. He had finally leveled up.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Lucius was observing from the stands, reevaluating everything he knew about the kid lying on the ground. What he had just accomplished, had been difficult for him even at the age of 28. His reflexes had broken the barrier, and even though it looked like he was going for a block, it was probably because he intended to protect himself, only to change his movements at the last second.

Steven was the only person clapping with all his strength. His lifelong dream had been to become a hero, able to help others without any hesitation. Seeing what had just transpired in front of him, he felt hope. Hope that one day, he could become a hero, no matter how hard it would get to do so.

Claudia was looking at Alex, feeling that it was an honor to lose to such a determined person. She started to make up her mind to train hard to become stronger in the future.

Clara and Jane were quite along with all the other assassins. They were scared at the potential that he showed, and started to think of ways to prepare to get to his good side. Clara had already made up her mind. She had to meet Sylvia at all costs. They had to secure Alex as a family Assassin in the future.

These few days had been quite turbulent for the Grey family. A single kid had shocked them again and again, by judgment, Demeanor, and now my his skill. The other families can't be allowed to take a look at him in the future, thought Clara.

Lucius was in a completely different mindset.

'This little guy isn't an animal that can be restrained by the cage of a family. He is the king of the jungle, which will be always his home. He makes his own domain. He won't follow in the steps of others. He will carve his own way. Sylvia played a great hand this time. She completely used us.'

He then looked back at the kid, with pride in his eyes.

'Well, It doesn't feel too bad to get used to this. Let's just let him do what he wants.'

He then looked back to his wife, who was hell-bent on getting Alex, as if he was some sort of collectible.

'She will be disappointed. I should tell her, but I guess that would make things more complicated.'

He sighed. Alex was now his disciple, so he had to ensure that he doesn't get too pressured by anyone. That could lead to slowing down his progress. He couldn't allow that. He decided to not tell his wife.
