System

Back at the Kramer Family...

Blood was flowing from Sylvia's right hand. Claudia, who had been in direct contact with her for the past 2 months, had relayed all the information regarding Alex to her over time.

Today, the information that had been provided had been particularly displeasing. Alex had fallen for the trap set up by the Grey Family, which was not supposed to happen.

"Was I wrong?"

She had been successfully rattled. She had to meet Alex and sort out her mind about this.

Or else the Grey family would have to be wiped out. She can't let this happen.

Alice, who had been observing her mistress from the sidelines, was similarly angry at Alex. But until it wasn't confirmed, she could not take any rash decisions.

"Alice, bring her back from the main family. It's time to go visit my dear son."

Alice frowned. She knew exactly who Sylvia was talking about, which made her decision to bring that individual even more bizarre.

"She won't come, mistress. She already has bad blood with you, and she hates Alex just as much as she hates you, if not more."

"Hm, then bring me a piece of paper. It's time to negotiate with her."

Alice nodded and proceeded to perform her duties.

Sylvia was making a plan that would successfully tear the connection that Alex had with the Grey family. He could not be allowed to get too attached to any of them. And if the damage that has been done is beyond repair, then it is better to get rid of him.

------------------------------------

Alex was inside of his system space, waiting for his system to return. These 2 months had been a rollercoaster for him and had helped him realize that the system was more than just helpful to him.

"Missed me?"

A mirage formed in front of him, androgynous in nature. The voice was feminine, which was different from the usual robotic voice that he was accustomed to, but it wasn't annoying.

"Finally, you are back."

Alex smiled at the mirage. He tried touching it, but his hand passed straight through it.

System scanned his body with a ray that came out of its eyes and frowned. His mental state was so chaotic, it genuinely terrified the system.

"Look's like you have had it rough. What the hell happened when I was gone?"

System summoned a control panel of sorts and connected itself to it with his arms.

"Memory absorption, initiated."

Alex stood there in awe. Everything that was happening in front of him felt ethereal.

While System was going through his memories, Alex stood there contemplating. He had been trying to predict what sort of upgrades had his body undergone while it had been updating.

"What a mess."

The system took off its hands from the control panel, and it vanished. Alex was staring at the place where the giant control panel was previously visible, still not able to get over the fact that the system could do that.

"Don't worry, I have some good news. Although I can't affect your emotions in any way, I can't change how you think, but I can make sure that you don't dream from now on."

"Forget that. First, tell me my stats."

Alex was impatient.

"Don't worry, you will get your stats in a short while. Now that the updates have been completed, I can assure you that I am more than ready to aid you in many more ways. For example,"

The mirage changed into Lucius and attacked Alex, just like he would. Alex tried to counter it, but he couldn't touch him. The mirage however was successful. He hit Alex on his arm.

"I can control the state of this mirage. The stronger a person is, the more value you can find in his movements. Training is going to be way more interesting for you from now on."

Alex was excited. This was exactly what he lacked in the system space, and even this problem had now been solved.

"Also, I have one more thing of note."

The system took out a book from inside of its body and placed its hand on it. Alex felt extreme pain in his head, and after a few minutes, opened his eyes looking refreshed.

"That is right. Consider that to be a gift from me. You can directly learn anything as long as I have a book for it, the only prerequisite being you can't do it too frequently. There is a cooldown, so choose what you learn wisely."

Megan was sitting in her room, with her hands shivering due to the contents of the letter just delivered to her.

"Finally. Finally. Finally."

She was feeling ecstatic because, after all these years, she finally had a way to get rid of her nemesis.

"If I kill him, everyone would like me. If I kill him, everyone would accept me. If I kill him, father won't be sad anymore."

Her laughter was rare, people who heard it in the mansion felt that she had gone crazy. When one of the maids entered the room to check up on her, she was sitting there elegantly, with a calm expression on her face. Puzzled, she asked if something had been the matter but Megan denied it.

Without anything else to comment on, the maid left. Megan on the other hand, was clutching the letter in her hand as hard as she could.

"I can't wait to meet you, brother."
