A Ghost.

"You are finally back."

Clara had been waiting for Lucius. As soon as he entered, she said this.

"You can always call me and talk about what is bothering you."

Lucius saw her expression and said.

"Why did you accept another mission for Alex?"

"I didn't. This is a personal request from one of our allies. If Alex wants to reject him, I won't force him. Speaking of allies, did you find anything?"

"No. I observed CCTV recordings, the bank statements, and any patterns that could connect this to any other fugitive. From the looks of it, the robber was prepared and a nobody. There was no pattern to follow."

She handed a file to him. He opened it up and went through the report.

"This is going to be difficult."

"What is going to be difficult?"

Clara and Lucius frowned.

"Master, is there a problem?"

Alex had appeared out of nowhere. Clara's heart almost stopped working.

"Alex, did you get the message?"

"I didn't."

He answered.

"The collective will be bringing another mission for you. It's up to you whether you chose to accept it, but I think that it will be beneficial for you."

"Can I have the mission details?"

"Wait until tomorrow. Clara will give it to you then."

----------------------------------------------

"Sylvia, you were completely out of the line!"

He sent out a punch towards his wife, who blocked it with ease.

"Do you really want to fight me?"

She asked him in a mocking tone.

Another punch effectively parried.

"Why did you take Megan there?"

She sent out a punch of her own, and Ronald deflected it.

"She wanted to meet him. I didn't insist."

The fight went on for a bit longer. By the end, there was no clear winner.

"You shouldn't play with my daughter. I gave up on Alex, but she is off-limits, do you understand?"

She took a towel from one of the maids and said,

"I understand. If you don't want me near your daughter, I will leave her alone."

He wiped off some of his sweat and said,

"How is he?"

Sylvia smiled.

"Nothing will happen to him. He is like you used to be, except more decisive and ready for action."

Ronald looked at his wife. It was not every day that she gave someone such high praise.

"I have some advice for you regarding Megan."

Sylvia spoke.

"What is it?"

He didn't like the conniving nature of his wife, but when she offered advice, he would listen to her.

"She can forget about being a part of the family if she doesn't get over her issues. I wouldn't want the Curran family to pay because of her foolishness."

-----------------------------------------------------------

"Alex, this isn't working."

He was in his system space, getting beaten up by his mother's mirage.

"You think?"

He slowly picked himself up from the ground. Sylvia's parameters were completely different from Lucius's, meaning that even if he had been training with her for years on end, she was an enigma to him.

"I have never seen her fight at full strength. Are you sure that you calculated her moves correctly?"

Alex was skeptical about the performance of the mirage. Its fighting style was passive at first, allowing the opponent to get comfortable with her pace. Then, she would destroy the opponent in the offensive. Her passiveness and her offensive style were two opposite styles of fighting, but she was able to transition flawlessly.

"This was constructed from your memories and the fight between Wei and her. It might not be as detailed as Lucius, but it is almost exactly how she would fight. You can take my word for it."

This wasn't detailed?

He took a deep breath in.

"I'd like to take a break now. Before I get mentally scarred for life, let's focus on the program for now."

The system summoned the laptop and handed it to him. The mirage disappeared.

"System, should I take this mission?"

He had overheard everything that Clara and Lucius were talking about.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I couldn't care less about what Clara thinks. But from what I heard, the person I am going to be chasing is a ghost."

"With the help from the collective, it might be easier. I think that Clara and Lucius have not been able to investigate it in much detail. Nobody is completely invisible."

"I guess you are right."

He wasn't afraid of putting in the work to find the ghost. If he took up the mission, he was going all out. But he was not looking forward to chasing a dead end.

"Let's get to work."
