Backdoor.

"System, give me the password."

Alex had bypassed the local network security and accessed the government database. He was doing his own research over the case inside the system space.

"wang-tao231147-2011."

He got through.

"Let's see what we have here."

He went through the case files. Nothing new.

Files on the 2 missing engineers. After looking through the file for several minutes, he found a discrepancy.

"Hmm?"

Routine Check, File accessed a few days back by 'Redacted.'

Their file had been accessed regularly by someone pretty important.

Confusion. Wang Tao should have checked the log files. Why didn't he mention this?

"This redacted person should be pretty important."

"Or he might be dead."

After looking through it once again, Alex closed his laptop.

"System, help me go through that recording once again."

He closed his eyes, and memory started to play through his head.

"The log isn't visible."

He remembered Tao had gone through the log files in passing, but the particular log was not visible.

He opened up his laptop once again and accessed the database.

"Someone has created a backdoor inside the database."

The person who had created the loophole had been specific. They had only tampered with the logs of this file. Furthermore, they had used some methods to mask those logs on every system inside this building.

"They had the drawings, but they might have struggled to implement the combination. Someone made a last-ditch effort and hacked into the database to locate the two remaining engineers."

This must have taken a lot of effort and money. Getting a hacker of that level would have been the last resort.

"Or they could have threatened/bribed someone on the inside."

Tao was the prime suspect, although it could be anyone on the inside.

He placed his laptop back on the ground, and it disappeared.

"Now, how should I proceed?"

Anyone could be the mole. He had to make sure that the culprit doesn't get alerted.

The Rolls Royce approached the entrance of a 60-floor tall skyscraper.

"Mr. Luo."

The door opened, and the heir to the Luo business empire stepped outside. His assistant was waiting for him with a bunch of files in her hand. She was a beauty, but the man didn't even spare her a glance. He took the files and started walking while his assistant followed him around.

After going through the files one by one, he handed them back to her and said,

"There are no errors. We can go ahead with these deals."

"Should I take this to the board for approval?"

"Sure. But remember to close these deals by the end of tomorrow."

She nodded. They both entered the elevator, and she asked,

"There was a call for you a few hours back."

"Who was it?"

"Someone named UBP."

For the first time in around 5 minutes, he looked at her. She was startled, but she maintained her composure.

"What did he say?"

"Nothing. He was only willing to talk to you."

"Did he give you a number?"

"He did. Do you want me to call him?"

Luo Tian averted his eyes from her and said,

"Give me the number. I will call him personally."

The assistant nodded.

After he reached his office, the assistant left to approve the files. He sat down on his chair, took out a phone from one of his desk drawers, and dialed the number.

"Why did you call me?"

Luo was furious. Contacting him now could lead to both of their doom.

"There has been a new development. Someone from the Zhao family has arrived."

He frowned. The Zhao family was involved?

"That old pig."

Luo was fuming at Tai Zhong.

"Who is it?"

"A kid. He is a foreigner."

"Does he suspect you?"

The person on the other side paused for a second.

"I don't think so. He has done nothing but sleep ever since he arrived here."

"What?"

"What I mean to say is that he is dependant on us for information. Until he gets something, he is harmless."

"Don't let anyone else find out."

"No one here suspects a thing."

"Still, do everything in your power to steer them away from this. You have to keep them preoccupied for 3 more days."

"I'll try my best."

The man hung up. Luo loosened his tie and mumbled,

"All I need is time. When these weapons are introduced in the market, my work is finished."

He drank a glass of whiskey to calm his nerves.
