"Alex."

Jin entered the cell.

"What brings you here today?"

A week had passed since he had returned to his cell. His training was on course, but he wasn't satisfied with his progress. After all this time, he was finally starting to slow down. And he wasn't liking it.

"I have come here to say goodbye."

"Goodbye?"

He opened his eyes.

"What do you mean by that?"

Jin smiled and said,

"I have to go on a covert mission which might take months. Your father..."

He paused and reiterated,

"The Curran family head is leading an expedition for some of the chosen assassins."

"And why am I not invited?"

He wanted to take part in a mission as well.

"Only three of us have been selected. This isn't a training exercise or a small-scale assassination attempt. We are going to be tested against strong enemies and hostile situations."

Alex sighed and asked,

"Who else is going?"

"Dima, Me and Jane. Claudia was going to take Jane's place, but the Curran family head straight up refused her participation and said that she was still just a kid."

"Does this happen every year?"

"No. It happens every four years."

He laid back down on the ground and closed his eyes.

"Good luck then. Tell Dima and Jane I said hi."

Jin looked at him and asked,

"I was expecting you to be difficult. Now that you are healed, I half-expected you to force your mother to get the spot."

A small grin appeared on his face.

"You all underestimate me. I want to become the best assassin in the world. However, I do understand my boundaries as well. The collective owns me. I will try to test the boundaries from time to time, but I will never dish out what I cannot take."

Jin closed his eyes and nodded.

"Good answer."

He left the started walking towards the exit. Before leaving though, he said,

"I'll see you later."

Alex gave him a thumbs up and said,

"Again, good luck."

"How are you, brother?"

Zhao Lei was at the prison facility. It was time for his yearly visit to meet his brother.

"Surviving."

His brother, Zhao Qiao was chained up to the wall. Sentenced to be in solitary confinement indefinitely, he was happy to stay where he was. His grey hair was starting to thin out, his left eye had been covered with a cloth, and the black scars were present all over his body.

8 years had passed since he was brought here by Zhao Lei. Repenting for his sins towards the family, he had been declared dead in the family archives.

"How long do you think you can continue to live like this?"

Hanging by chains like a corpse, Zhao Qiao had given up on life. Ironically, he was more alive when he was half frozen to death in front of a shrine than he is now.

"Do you have a good story to tell me?"

To avoid the question, he replied with another question.

"Sylvia has been creating some headlines."

Qiao looked at Lei and said,

"That woman does not know when to quit. What did she do this time?"

"She made a fool out of Ronald."

The elder brother sighed.

"That isn't something new. Poor Ronald. If we weren't enemies, I would feel so much sympathy for him. But as of now, my heart feels a bit better when something bad happens to him."

Lei smiled.

"So what did she do?"

"Took the one thing that the high profile Curran family was desperate for, and practically sold it to the collective."

Qiao's eyes widened.

"An heir?"

Lei's grin widened.

"Exactly."
