Homecoming

As we travel through the tall grasses we finally reach the area of the dead treant and decide to make camp. While we get ourselves situated Mog runs over to me Excited with something cradled in his arms, a huge smile on his face as Harold and Ogis approach from behind.

"Master! Master! It worked! Look it worked! The regrowth spell worked! It's alive and growing! Its really small now but if we let it grow in our base in a few years we'll have our very own treant to help protect us and bless our lands!" Mog gushes out in excitement as the two adventurers approach from behind. As Harold hears the conversation his eyes shine with curiosity and approaches us while asking Mog if he may see the treant.

"So curious the guardians of nature they're called you know right? Very rare and only found in untouched area's of nature but we always thought they just came to life. Are you implying you created such a creature and if so how?" Harold mutters in curiosity before looking between Mog and myself expecting an answer to his question.

"When we traveled through this area before we encountered a treant that had somehow become undead. After we defeated it Mog felt that he had to do something and try to help so he used his regrowth spell in the hopes of maybe healing it or at least allowing something new to grow here and turns out he was right to do so." I explain while looking at the thing in Mog's arms. The creature stands barely a foot tall and looks like a slender stick with small roots on the bottom and a single golden leaf on it tip, two branches about as wide as a straw are protruding from each side and are intertwined with each other and its main body. On the center of the body a barely visible face can be made out of the main body, two eyes the size of grains of rice and a mouth not much larger.

"Fascinating being able to regrow a living sentient creature from undeath. I have to take a guess but plant life and elementals when their bodies die seem to fully vacate so if I'm to guess based on how some magic users tame elementals the creature that grows will be a completely new consciousness as well as loyal to the one who cast the spell. I've never seen a treant go through this though so it's all conjecture I assure you but I believe bringing it to someplace safe would be in all our best interests." Harold babbles excitedly before motioning Mog to follow him and they begin discussing different types of magic, a friendship slowly beginning to bloom between the dauntingly loyal myconid and the excessively curious gnome.

As the two walk away Ogis still stands before me and is moving his hands in front of me slowly as a tutorial message pops up.

{Unknown language detected! Due to reincarnation all languages not spoken will be learned after hearing(Or in this case seeing) at least 10 words.}

"Hey Ogis this might sound strange but could you show me ten words from your sign language? I have a spell that might help us talk." I explain to the dwarf who smiles happily and slowly goes through a multitude of hand motions before another prompt shows up.

{Congratulations you have learned the language (Ancient Dwarven Miners Sign Language)!}

"Axle, dynamite, porridge, hammer," Ogis's hands keep moving signing out more random words before I hold up my hand to stop him before mine begin to move.

"That's more than enough friend it's nice to finally be able to understand you. And thank you for teaching me this could really come in handy!" I sign as a look of disbelief shows on the dwarf's face before a huge smile shines through his beard.

"You can understand me? Really? That magic is amazing! You don't understand how hard it is to only be able to talk to either Harold or that racist bitch Elia! Don't get me wrong Harold's a great friend but he's a little bit wired in my opinion and way to smart." he signs to me and I laugh as I nod along and we start to chatter for a bit before the group starts packing up. Ogis follows next to me now while glancing at the gnoll on the back of Pearl's back and signs to me with a look of confusion on his face.

"Why did you bring a prisoner with us by the way. The gnolls won't pay for one of their own and although they can be useful for basic labor they're more like just a plague. They're the kind of monsters that everyone actually hates. Also where did you find this skink its a beautiful color. We have them back home but I've never seen one this pure of a white and it's friendly which is rare since most are timid." He signs to me and I smile since I was wondering when someone would ask about the gnoll.

"Well the gnoll is simple, he was the gnoll who told us of the camps defenses and numbers and even though we kind of threatened him with death it felt wrong to leave him to deal with the gnolls that escaped. They would probably kill him and it seemed a waste. I plan to make a city where all races are welcomed regardless of what they are as long as they can act civilized. Monsters aren't all evil baby eaters or invaders and I feel that the ones who aren't deserve someplace they can grow and be safe. He's a perfect opportunity to prove we hold no hatred to any particular race and hopefully one day he'll become a useful member of our group. As for Pearl she's called an albino moonlit skink and I found her in an underground arena where we live near. We saved her with Mog and after I fed her she became my pet and we've been together since. She's kind of like an overgrown puppy to be honest." I explain while laughing at the explanation on Pearl before I feel a shove on the back of my head. As I glance behind me to see what hit me I watch the pale white tail coming towards my face again and hear a growling chuckle from Pearl as she glances away quickly.

"You brat! Just wait til we get home!" I joke with her as I rub behind her eye scales and listen to her purr. As we keep walking and make small talk we finally reach the tree line of our forest and stop as we see both Jeff and Sheer waiting for us, looks of worry and confusion on each of their faces.

"So we might have a bit of a problem kid your base is infested and if we are to retake it we need everyone to chip in." Jeff says in a serious voice as everyone nearby takes notice and listens to what they have to say.
