What They Need

It's a beautiful morning in T-City, all the citizens are enjoying their day. But then all of the sudden a meteor crashed down, creating a huge crater at the center of the city. The police arrive at the scene and evacuate the citizens away from the meteor as loud sirens went off. Then the meteor cracked open and revealed a gargantuan pitch-black golem, roughly humanoid in shape, but without a distinct head, and bulbous spiked hands resembling frozen tree roots. Its body is composed of a black fluid with some solid metallic plating. It's most notable feature is its glowing purple eye, located at the base of where its neck would be. Immediately people began running away from the crater as the police officers started shooting at it but it didn't have any effect on it. Until it raised one arm and pointed it toward them then all of a sudden part of the city where the alien is at explodes, killing anyone in a ten-meter radius. The monster then walked out of the crater and continued to use its power to destroy the city.

Meanwhile, far away from that two people are in a heated game of chess. It's between a young and old silver fox. It's a close game before the young man smiles. After seeing the old man move two of his front pawns, he noticed that his king was wide open. He moved but one of his pawns before then moving his queen and capturing his king in only two simple moves. "Checkmate, old-timer." said the young man as he grabbed the king piece from the board. The old man is astounded at the sudden fool's mate. "In all the times I've played this game I've never been made to look so foolish." The young man began to chuckle to himself before he placed the pieces back in place. "You just weren't thinking straight. The first game we played lasted like twenty minutes or so before I won. We can go again if you're up for-." The young man was cut off by the sound of explosions and the ground shaking below them knocking over the chess pieces. The young man suddenly stood up. "Looks like we have to postpone, something just came up." The young man said as he slammed his fist into his palm before then quickly heading towards the explosions leaving the old man to replace the pieces.

The monster continues to destroy the city, building after building and killing the people it came across. The alien then spotted a little girl who was alone, crying for her mom and dad, the monster began to walk toward her, causing the ground to shake after every step. The little girl continued to cry as the monster came closer to her. It raised its massive spiked arm and brought it down onto the girl, shooting up dust and debris. But as the smoke faded away, its face became shocked to see someone protecting the little girl. Effortlessly blocking his attack with just one arm. The person that saved the little girl is the young man from earlier, he is wearing all black clothes. A leather coat that has a hood, a short-sleeved undershirt, fingerless gloves, and high top sneakers.

In a deep distorted voice, the monster speaks. "The infamous vigilante hero, I knew you'd show up eventually." The young man didn't pay attention to what it said, only telling the little girl to go hide. The monster began to get annoyed at being ignored and attempted to attack him, in a failing effort. With the young man dodging the attack ending up standing on top of its head. "So, you're looking to play, huh? Alright, I guess I got some time to kill. Oh, and by the way, the names Christan" said the hero, which only infuriated the monster more at his mocking tone. It then quickly raised his arms above his head to crush him but once again missed, leaving itself wide open for him to get in front of it and place both of his hands on its chest. Before a fierce red flame erupted from his hands, a massive wave of flames. Coating the already destroyed streets in a dense blaze that he hastily put out. "Crap, I should've said something cool as I finished it. Like, eat this or see you in hell." said the young man as he then turned to see the little girl from before happily laughing in the arms of her parents. The young hero smiled at the sight of seeing she was safe, before looking back at the remains of the monster.

All that was left was the lower half of it, the torso was just ashes scattered across the ground. "Well, aside from not lasting a little longer, that was a great victory." The young began to reminisce about his first time facing a monster. To him, it felt like only yesterday, but in reality, it had been a few months ago. Just then a few B-Class and C-Class showed up looking pretty angry. The young man assumed by the looks on their faces that they were told to deal with that monster. "Again with this crap." One of them said before someone he recognized walked up to him with an angry look on his face. It was the B-Class hero tank to Black hold and C-Class hero Tanktop Tiger.

Christan was a little ecstatic getting to meet them face to face but he could tell the feeling wasn't mutual. They got right in his face and started yelling at him. "It's hard enough ahead, why do you keep getting in the way. Stop playing the hero." As those words left their mouths Christan knew could only think of one thing that he could reply with. So without uttering a word he kicked them both in the gut before reaching back and grabbing their heads, thus leaving their jaws above his shoulder before he dropped to a seated position and forcing their jaws to drop down on his shoulder. He calls it a stunner. When they made an impact with his shoulder the sprung backward collapsing back first knocked out or simply stunned. He didn't care which. He got frightened and nasty looks from the other heroes before he made it back to the place he calls home.

Christan POV

As I opened the door I quickly spotted the candles placed around the room and began n shooting small fire beams at them lighting all but one of them. I ended up hitting the wooden wall behind it. I hastily dispersed the fire before I walked over to the candle lighting it with just my finger as if it was lighter. "That was close." I told myself as I looked at the black mark on the wall and the hero posters that I almost burned. That's right I'm a hero fanboy. I have posters, the hero catalog, and figurines. I even emulate one of them in my "hero clothes." Unfortunately, I'm not a part of the actual hero association, the organization founded by a multi-millionaire that manages all of the cities' heroes. There are plenty of great heroes that I've admired but here in T-City, they don't have those types of heroes running around.

So I stepped up, I got these powers one day during that alien invasion four months ago. Some debris fell and crashed into a building near me. It looked to be an alien engine with a glowing crystal in it. I and a few others didn't think too much of it till the engine bursted into blue and orange flames, causing me and the rest of the civilians to be thrown backward. I still don't know why it did what it did but my body began to absorb the energy. The flames created ripples around me. All around the crash site, rocks turned into dust and disintegrated. My body continued to absorb the energy, my hands began to spark as my hair changed from black to white. The accident gave me the power to conjure fire and manipulate it to a degree, as well as enhanced strength. Ever since then I've been doing small "hero" work in my small town.

As I got done fixing up the wall I turned on the TV and saw that wrestling was on. I almost forgot to mention this but I'm a massive wrestling fan, too. I headed over to the couch and started watching.

Two hours passed and I just finished watching the last match. "Man if I didn't have this strength I would have loved to be a wrestler," I said as I was about to attempt one of the moves until I spotted a little girl arguing with five teenagers across the street. I immediately knew I needed to help. I jumped over the couch, threw on my black jacket, and went outside before walking across the street. The little girl was still arguing with the teenagers. One of the teenagers walks up close to the little girl with a tick mark on his forehead and speaks."You got a lot of nerves kid! Who do you think you're messing with? Do you know who we are?!" The little girl didn't seem fazed at all as she then retorted. "I don't care who you are! Your assholes, now leave me alone!" The teens got angry at her tone and lack of fear. "Heh, this kid got a mouth. Let's fix that." One of them pulled out a pocket knife.

"If three punks are needed to pick on one little girl. You must be truly desperate. Get lost, before you get hurt." The little girl and five teenagers look back. "You're the one who needs to get lost or you'll be hurt! Screw it! Kill him!" One of them pulled out his pocket knife and came at me. 'Can't say I didn't try to warn them.' I thought as they got closer, so I booted him in the face knocking him to the ground. Careful to not hit too hard and kill him. Another one pulls a gun and points it at the little girl. I see the gun and quickly shoot a fireball at his arm, making him drop the gun.  At that moment I used all my strength and threw a dumpster at them, trapping them all in it. They began to freak out about being trapped. "Looks like trash day came early." I said while they yelled out they'll be back with their boss next time. I kick the dumpster sending them flying into a wall. I look back and see the little just standing there.

"Sorry, you had to see that. Are you alright? What's your name? My name is Christan."

With a bit of a shiver, she told me her name was Zenko. "I could've handled them by myself, but thanks anyway." I let an awkward laugh at her fearlessness. I was a little amazed as well, as she was ten times braver than I would've been in the situation at her age. "Are you by yourself? Why were you arguing with those guys, they could have seriously hurt you if I didn't show up." I told her before she quickly replied while crossing her arms. "I'm not scared of dumb boys and no I was with my big brother but we got separated. We aren't even from this city. But anyway, how did you do that? You know with the fire thingy."

I was seconds away from telling her before I told her that we should be more worried about finding her brother. But she quickly cut me off. "Sorry but I can find my brother on my own. We were just going to the supermarket that's around the corner. He's probably looking for me. Thanks anyway." She began to walk away but before she left I stopped her. "Before you go take my jacket. I saw how you were shivering earlier. I figured you were cold." she nodded before I put my oversized leather coat on her. "Wow, it's really warm in this? Are you sure, you won't need it?" I gave her a little smile before telling her my body is always warm and that's why the inside of the coat is so heated. Zenko left shortly after that on her own to find her brother, she is one brave little girl. I was about to walk back to my place but I stepped on something. I picked it up and instantly I knew what it was. It was a prospect patch from those guys. It had the initials BSK.

I went back inside, not giving them a second thought. BSK or Bone Street Krew went around taking money from stores and if they didn't pay, the gang would burn down their stores back in the day. But ever since I've been protecting the city they've been a lot more discreet. "Those monsters usually show up at night. Mostly because I terrorize the day." After saying that I stepped away from the door and headed for the couch, finally laying down. "I feel like what I did is gonna come back to bite me." I thought before I clapped twice putting out the candles as I fell asleep.
