Best Friend

The night rolled in as the three rode on. Jared and Titus were in constant conversation about a new game console they had their eyes on and Willow soon fell into boredom and zoned out.

Eyes glued on the road and passing lampshade light reflected through the window and for the first time in a while, her mind was blank.

Lately she had lost the ability to detach from the world and just relax - she was getting to invested. She had forgotten what it was like to zone out, it was a drug for her.

A drug she remembered her therapist discouraging way too many a time.

And long drive later through the night they stopped round a kerb where Jared stepped out before she had the time to turn her head and he walked down the path and around the corner.

"Where's he going?" She said. Her voice was soft and scratchy, she sounded exhasperated.

Titus turned his body around to face her, "Are you alright?"

She ran a hand over her throat and stepped up and scrambled into the front seat, earning a gasp from Titus as she sat down with a thump.

"What? I like the front better."

"Right...Anyway Jared is fetching your little friend, I'm sure she's missed you." Hs smirked

"Eva???" She immediately sat straight, "Y'all better not do nothing to her!"

"Relax! She literally wants to see you that's all. We thought it may be a good idea to bring her to you."

"How-"

As if on queue, Willow saw two silhouettes move though the shadows towards the car and soon enough Eva hopped in and immediately crushed Willow in a strangling hug right around her neck.

Expensive perfume filled her nose as Eva squealed behind her.

"Oh Will oh my god I missed you!" She shrieked as Willow spluttered

"V! I can't breathe!"

Eva only giggled as she placed a kiss on the back of her locs.

Titus merely glanced at Jared who smiled back.

"You actually like her? As in she's likeable?" Titus chuckled and Eva smacked the back of his head resulting in his eyes going saucer shaped.

Willow finally got the chance to turn around and was faced with a happy Eva, the sight of familiarity hit her and she couldn't help but smile back.

"God I've missed you." She laughed as she patted Eva's head

"Right!?" She squeaked,"So tell me, what's up?"

Immediately Willow's mood shifted. She sighed frustratedly as she stared at the two men.

Immediately the two guys nodded at each other, "Well give you two some time, holler if you need anything." And stepped out.

And for the first time in a while, Willow felt it possible to explain everything that was going on.

Eva's expressions went from happy, to content, blank then ended in a frown.

"So you're finally gonna try for revenge?" She mirrored

"Yeah... what's the problem?"

Eva shifted uncomfortably, "Well besides being in cahoots with a gang - you actually saved Park Jungwoo from what I gather was a failing rescue mission, tell me, has he told you why he didn't get one of his goons to save him?"

Willow shrugged, "It was actually just a test thing I think. Just like Javelin - these organisations thrive in mind games."

"Are you sure? Did he tell you that?"

"Well no...I just assumed that-"

"Did he tell you why I came to see you?"

Willow frowned, "I thought it was just to calm down, these two brought me here..." She drifted off as she stared at the two men she'd allowed to drag her to an unknown location, she'd been so self centered she's failing to focus - she'd been running off of the adrenaline that was carelessness and absolute need for answers again.

"So shallow - always shallow." Eva giggled

"I ain't shallow." She mumbled

"Right...Anyway your sudden resignation was recognised no one seemed to care much, I'm sure your people made sure of that , I'm still working at the hospital anyway, I'll keep an eye out for you."

"Will you be safe?"

"Oh yeah, tall, dark and handsome has been keeping an eye on me." She drifted her eyes to the wavy haired man who's gaze met hers coincidentally as he chatted away with Jared.

"Titus?"

"Yeah."

Suddenly the door opened revealing the devil himself.

"Sorry to cut this short, but we gotta head home now. Jared will drive you back, I'll stay with Eva for a bit for safety issues and we need to sort out other security details."

Immediately Eva scrambled out and Jared came in the driver's seat.

"Wait!" Willow said and Eva stared at her. But she had nothing to say.

"Look Will, I know it must be difficult for you to be alone at this point in time-"

"I don't feel lonely."

"BUT you're not alone, Jungwoo gets you, be understands."

"How can you be so sure?"

"If he didn't would he have called me to 'give you some comfort, because I can't seem to.' "

"Did he really say that? Anyway I don't need comfort, especially from him, I'm pretty sure you misunderstood his message."

"Do you wanna know exactly how he sounded over the phone?"

Willow squinted and leaned forward in curiosity

Jared stifled a smile as Eva kissed Willow straight on the lips and Titus let out a gutteral sound of absolute surprise at Eva's plump lips and Willow's wide eyes.

"Like that. That's how he sounded. Don't tell him though, but that kiss was from him to you." She squealed as she grabbed Titus by the hand and walked away leaving Willow staring at Jared who stared at Willow as if she was the most interesting creature he had ever set eyes on.
