(Ember's POV)
"Mom, I'm sorry.", I tell my mom and she let's out an angry huff of air
"Ember, you say that everytime you get in trouble, if you were actually sorry you wouldn't continuously get in trouble.", my mom tells me angrily and I just look down at my feet.
You're probably wondering what's going on. Well, right now my mom and I are in her car and she driving me to some Conversion Academy for troubled kids that's all the way in California and we live in Florida. But that's besides the point, I think it's really retarded it's like, Oh it's such a good idea to put a whole ton of troubled kids in one place so that way they won't misbehave, yeah like that's so gonna work. I swear people are really freaking retarded.
Oh crap, how rude of me, I haven't even introduced myself. Well, my name is Ember Jones and well as you guess, I'm a supposed troubled kid, if only people knew what the reasons were behind my acts, maybe then they'd understand but, it's whatever.
"Ember, are you even listening to me?!", my mom exclaims and I let out a sigh.
"Sorry mom, what were you saying?", I asked my mom and swear I saw her roll her eyes.
"I said, we should be there in about 20 minutes.", she says sounding irritated I nod my head at her and go back to looking out my window.
I grab my bluetooth earbuds, connect them to my phone and turn on my Pandora to listen to my music. I only ever really listen to Nickelback and Creed and rarely I listen to ACDC.
The first song that comes on is, If Today Was Your Last Day by Nickleback. I start to sing the song to myself after turning the volume all the way up. (You should really listen to that song it's a really good song.)
After a few minutes or at least what felt like a few minutes to me. I turn to look at my mom and she motions for me to take my earbuds out. I take them out of my ears and look at her.
"What's up mom?", I ask
"We're here.", she says sounding a little sad as she points to the Academy.
We get out of the car and I stretched making an inhumane sound as I stretched. My mom shakes her head and walks over to me.
"You are so weird.", she says as she hugs me and I smile and giggle
"Thanks mom, that just makes me more interesting than most people.", I tell her hugging her back. We stay like that for a minute or two and I just had to ruin the moment as usual.
"Mom, you know you're bipolar, like you were just angry at me less than 20 minutes ago and know you're sad that I'm leaving.", I tell her and she pulls away from the hug.
"You always ruin moments like this.", she says and I laugh and then sigh and look down at the ground.
"I'm sorry mom, you shouldn't be having to do this.", I tell her
"Ember look at me.", she says and I slowly lift my head back up to look up at her.
"Ember, stop apologizing and, what do you mean I shouldn't be having to do this?", she asks sounding confused
"If I had just walked away from the situations that got me to this point, maybe you wouldn't be having to worry so much about me.", I tell her and she looks at seeming a little upset.
"Ember, I'm always gonna be worried about you no matter what, whether you got in trouble or not.", she says and I smile. I hear somebody yelling I look and see somebody waving their hands in the air.
"I think I should get my things together so we can start heading in.", I tell my and she nods. I walk to the back of her car and open the trunk then grab my things which I only had to use one suit case for all my belongings, and it wasn't even a big suit case. I know it sounds like I'm complaining and what not but I'm not, I'm grateful for what I have, maybe if I didn't get in trouble as much as I do it would actually seem like I'm not.
"Okay mom, let's go.", I say closing the trunk and walking towards the Academy.
We walk in and Holy lord I swear I've seen less people in a football stadium than inside of this Academy. But anyways, we walk in and walk to the I guess front office that, it looked kinda like a dungeon with computers. My mom and I walk up to the lady that was at the front desk and my mom gets her attention.
"Excuse me miss.", my mom says trying to get the lady's attention and the lady looks up at her.
"Yes ma'am, how may I help you?", she asks in a sickly sweet tone.
"Yes um, my daughter is new her names Ember Jones.", my mom says as she pushes me forward a little, I just smile and wave then the lady gives us the one second finger.
"Aha, Ember Jones, you were sent her for as-", she goes to say and I cut her off.
"I no it's rude to interrupt an adult whilst they're speaking but, can you please not talk about why I'm here, and before you ask yes I'm aware that if I get in trouble again I can say bye bye to my whole future.", I tell her and she nods.
"Okay good, now I just need to get some paper work for your mom so she can sign it for you.", she says and my mom nods. The lady walks away and I turn towards my mom to see tears filling her eyes
"Momma?", I ask and she looks at squeezes her eyes close and takes a deep breath. I see tears start to roll down her face.
"Why are you crying?", I ask her and she shakes her head and hugs me tight.
"I won't be able to see my baby for a whole school year, and I'm still trying to figure out how you get expelled on your last day of school.", she says as she hugs me tighter and I laugh a little at she said towards the end.
"But you can talk to me every Saturday.", I tell her and she nods.
"I know.", she whispers to me and hugs me even tighter.
"Mom, your crushing me to death, literally.", I say and she giggles a little and let's me go. I gasp dramatically for air and she laughs at my actions.
"You're to dramatic.", she giggles out as the lady comes back in.
"Mrs.Jones?", the lady asks and my mom looks up.
"I'm here.", she says and grabs the papers.
"I just need you to sign on all of the lines and you'll be good to go.", the lady says to my mom and my mom nods. My mom walks over to a table with chairs around them, plastic short uncomfortable chairs but still, chairs, she sits on one and I sit on one next to her.
"Mom, you know I love you, right?", I ask my mom, she looks up at me and gives me a 'duh' look
"And I love you too.", she says and I nod.
"This place is already creeping me out. I can't even imagine what the classrooms or even the dorms look like.", I tell her earn a giggle from her.
"Okay, I finished signing these.", my mom says and walks up to the desk and hand the papers to the lady.
The lady hands some things to my mom and my mom walks over to me after speaking with the lady.
"Okay, say your goodbyes and what not, you have a pass to not wear your uniform tomorrow because we don't have any of your size till tomorrow evening.", the lady says and I nod.
I take a deep breath and stand up. This all seems so unreal. Like as if I'm having a nightmare so I pinch myself like the idiot I am.
"OW!", I yelp and hear my mom laughing.
"Why'd you do that Ember?" my mom asks in between laughs, I stick my tongue out at her childishly
"Because I thought I was just in a nightmare that I haven't woken up from yet.", I tell my mom sighing. She comes up to me and hugs me tight.
"I'm gonna miss my little baby girl.", she says and I hug her back.
"I'm gonna miss you too momma.", I say while giggling a little
"Now who's gonna keep me company and who's gonna help me and who's gonna be my clown whenever I'm sad.", she says I pull away from her and I give her a 'seriously' look and she laughs.
"I'm gonna miss your weirdness and your dramaticness.", my mom says and I smile.
"I'm gonna miss you period mom.", I say to her and she smiles.
"I love you so so much Ember.", my mom says squeezing me in a hug.
"I love you too mom. Y-you're crushing me again.", I tell her and she let's me go and kisses me on my head. I kiss her on the cheek.
"I guess I better be going.", my mom says sadly as she hands me the things the lady handed her.
"What are these?", I ask her and she smiles.
"Those are all the things you're gonna need. I'm gonna get going now okay, I love you.", she says and I smile.
"I love you too mom, and make sure you stay at a hotel for the night, you've been driving for hours non stop.", I tell her and she waves me off dismissively.
"Mom, I'm serious i-", I go to say but she cuts me off.
"You can't be serious even if you tried.", she says and walks out the door.
"Um, do you mind helping me out a little bit please?", I ask the lady
"Give me a second. ", she says rudely. She calls somebody then says something and hangs up.
No to long later some dude that looked about my age came in. I look at him with a 'what the fuck' face and he laughs.
"Welcome to California's Conversion Academy for troubled kids.", he says hatefully and stretches his arm out for me to shake.
"I'm Blake Night.", he says and I shake his hand. His hands are smaller than my hands yet he's taller than me.
"Jesus Christ dude, you got some small ass hands.", I tell him and he pouts.
"My hands are not small your hands are just huge.", he says taking his hand away.
"Anyways, I'm Ember Jones, it's nice to meet ya.", I say to him and he nods.
"Do you need help with your suit case?", he asks and I shake my head.
"Nah, I got it I just need help finding my dorm.", I tell him and he nods.
"Alright, just follow me.", he says and we walk out of the room and down the hall.
After a few minutes of silence he speaks up.
"So, how'd you land yourself in here?", he asks and I look up at him.
"I killed a guy using my hands mainly this one.", I say holding up my left hand that has gauze wrap and some medical tape wrapped around it.
"Wait, for real?", he asks sounding scared and I laugh.
"You're so freaking gullible.", I say whilst laughing.
"Anyways, you gonna tell me the real reason how you got in here?", he asks and I shake my head.
"Nope, that's for me to know and no one to ever find out.", I say to him as we continue walking.
"What's your dorm number?", he asks I look at one of the papers and see the number 213.
"213.", I say and starts to try and hold in a laugh.
"What?!", I exclaim as he starts to laugh.
"Dude, your roommates a dude.", he says and I shrug.
"As long as he doesn't go through my panty drawer, keeps his hands to himself, and doesn't go through my things I'm A to the okay.", I tell him and we continue our journey to my dorm
