Mona Focus!

Mona woke up from the best sleep she had ever had in her entire life. She stretched and yawned, raising from the marshmallow-soft couch.

"Slept well?" Mona recognized the deep bass of her Blonde Chocolate bar.

"Oh, chocolate your back!" She exclaimed, fully awake now. She located him sitting across from her with his hands on his knees. He leaned forward looking darkly at her.

Mona promptly got up and sat in his lap. Settling in like a cat ready to be petted.

"No no no" he got up and placed her back on the couch she woke up on "You stay there, answered all my questions first"

"Ok!" Mona tucked her feet under her and said "I'm sorry I was peeking on you this morning"

"Why were you there?"

"Well, I was in the market trying to decide which fruit was going to be my one meal of the day. I was having a tough time deciding between an Apple or an Orange. You see if I chose an orange I could peg it and have enough to last all day but the apple teased better to me. Anyways I was just about to make my decision when I heard some of the villagers talking. They were saying that a dragon shifter moved into the old Sigrid farm and I thought that's a great idea!"

Chocolate was frowning at her "What was a great idea spying on me?"

"Well no and yes, no because that wasn't the idea I was talking about at that time, and yes because I needed to spy to see if you could work for my first idea"

Aden's frown intensified Mona didn't notice his face she was too busy admiring his big body sprawled out before her like a feast. She licked her lips in anticipation.

When she sat on his lap again she would - "Mona- Mona!"

Her lustful musing was interrupted by an irritated Chocolate "Mona focus, what was the first Idea?"

She shivered because she liked hearing him say her name all rough like. She almost begged him to say it again until he snapped his fingers in her face. What were they talking about again? "Oh, that! Well when I heard the villagers saying that a dragon shifter moved here, I thought, that a dragon shifter would be a lovely bodyguard. They were said to be powerful form shifters and have great magical abilities plus they could turn into a huge fire breathing beasts so people are generally deathly afraid of them"

She took up a scented candle off the center table it was so big it took both her hands to hold it. It was heavy too, she almost dropped it when she took it up.

"Mona"

"Hmm"

She looked up to find Chocolate pinching the bridge of his nose "Is something wrong Chocolate do you have a headache?"

He looked exasperated before he answered "No Mona, I don't have a headache but I feel one coming on"

"I can give you a temple massage if you like," She said excitedly at the prospect of touching him.

He sighed "Maybe later, for now, please tell me why dragon shifters being good bodyguards was so important an idea, that you were willing to climb a fifty-foot tree to spy on one"

"Ok, so it all started four days ago-"

"This seems like the long version of the story is there a summary I can get?"

"Not if you want all your questions answered"

Chocolate took a deep breath sat back in his chair folding his fingers under his chin propped his elbows on the handles of the couch and said

"Proceed"

Right then and there Aden decided he would just try to focus on the information he wanted. She seemed incapable of summarizing.

"So four days ago I was out in the field spreading fertilizer preparing for our next planting season. when I suddenly felt light-headed. At first, I thought I was having a sunstroke, I've had plenty of those because I have to work in the sun all the time. Anyways, I felt light-headed and I decided to rest under a tree before I fainted. the last time that happened to me I stayed in the field all day and got sunburnt. It was so painful and Father and Mother made me go back to work the very next day and -"

"Mona?" Aden interrupted

"Yes" Mona answered

"Could you get back to telling me what was happening to make you light-headed?" Aden questioned

"Oh yes!" Mona exclaimed, "so I was under the tree and I fell into a daze then I started seeing images inside my head and that's when I realized what was happening..."

After a full ten seconds passed with Mona not continuing because she was gazing at the seat of his pants. Aden snapped his fingers again "What was happening Mona!?"

"Right! I was having a vision! Can you believe it Me, Mona Belle latent seer had a vision. I told Father and Mother and they had the nerve to make fun of me and I said to them--"

Aden sat forward in his chair "Wait, Mona what are you saying? what did you see in your vision?"

"Oh, that!" Mona became very excited. Her smile almost broke her face. "I saw my mate!"

Aden frowned deeply "What do you mean? Tell me clearly what you saw"

"It wasn't my mate exactly, I saw a palace guard say "your mate is this way"

"How-"

"Do you know" Mona interrupted him before he could ask his question "how I knew he was a palace guard! Because I saw the uniform! When I was a child they came into our village looking for recruits, I tried to join but they said I was too young. Anyway, the armor was the same as the one I saw in my vision. A purple rose in the middle of a rising sun. So I thought if I could get to the Shiftkind's capital then maybe I would be in the right place for my vision to come through. Maybe even seek an audience with the high king and queen, or even a councilor or a guard anyone from the castle really. I'm sure someone at the castle could help me to find him. Maybe he's a guard or something which means he's strong or maybe he's a chef there, Goddess the possibility is so exciting"

Aden frowned as she gushed over this imaginary male. Mona continued barely taking a breath, unaware of Aden's darkening mood.

"Then when I started out I was nearly robbed by some bandits but they turned out to be not so bad. Turns out that one of my sister's husband's cousin was one of them. We met at my sister's wedding. We danced and talked, nice guy. So they let me spend the night with them and I thought well hey this whole going off on your own may not be too bad. But then I met a band of mountain trolls, ugly little things and their leader and his brother asked ME to bear their children...

Again she rambled on with barely a breath

"Did you know that is the mountain troll's way of asking someone to marry them? Anyways I refused and they got mad and wanted to take me by force because they saw that I was alone but luckily I had traded some flowers with some friendly Water Sprites and gotten a Water Spare. Did you know that Mountain Trolls hate water?

"Anyways -

"There is more!?" Aden exclaimed, reaching the end of his patience.

"Only these traders tried to drug me and take me with them too. I'm pretty sure they're not cloth traders like they claim to be and-"

"Ok so - Aden tried to intercede so he could get her to shut up but Mona just continued as if he never spoke.

"-And I was thinking of giving up and going home when I heard some people saying that a dragon shifter moved close by"

Oh, thank the gods she finally got around to the point Aden thought beyond frustrated.

"and I thought wow dragons shifters are awesome they have giant teeth and claws and they breathed fire even in their humanoid state. So I thought I could ask the dragon shifter to fly me to the capital and in return, I'll work on his farm or something cause I'm good at that. I worked on my parent's farm all my life but first I had to check if you were a nice dragon shifter. so I came to spy on you by the way don't you have any ward magic around your property? I was able to walk right onto it. If you don't, I know someone whos pretty good and wouldn't charge you too much for the service It's my other sister's husband's brother and he-

"Enough!" Aden put a little command magic in the order but Mona kept right on talking.

"I'm sorry Chocolate, I know sometimes I talk too much I try really hard not to but you're so easy to talk to and usually I'm... by... myself - where are you going Chocolate?"

Mona asked as her blond Chocolate god stood abruptly from his chair.
