Your family has died, but you won’t be. I have something for you to do.
You will be my heavenly agent from now on. I, in return, will give you command of my army, and won’t kill you as well.
A very youthful scientist named Mackenzie Warnard, at the age of 16, was granted god-like powers from The Raven. The boy wasn’t sure how he was useful, but what he did know was that he had a purpose and must obey her orders.
His last order was to gain the trust of a group of peers somewhere in the once tranquil town of Wrensdale. He just didn’t know where to start, and why.
Mackenzie's gift was to harness and master the power of electrical currents, able to channel it to his will without having any significant powers to boot. He was a regular human, with a bright mind and a disgustingly awesome power. Alone he was able to work with what he had, but now… Now he had the god’s granted ability of lightning. However, there was a fatal flaw regardless if he accepted her offer. If he used it too much, he’d collapse and possibly die due to overcharge.
All of these thoughts circled inside Mackenzie's head as he waited in the appointed location. If his heart was more powerful than his brain, he would possibly resist the orders of slaughtering and commanding angels under him to reap his kind, but he didn’t. Survival held power over any other mindset. Though he’d be lying to himself if he claimed that he didn’t care about anything else.
Whatever happened that day, he respected his ‘mistress,’ still in denial that he was in love with her, but that didn’t let his mind wander too far.
The gates of heaven: He expected a beautiful land full of silver, gold, and blinding light, angels singing and those who had perished to worship Nyx, but the only thing that was accurate about this place was the beautiful singing. However it didn’t mean it wasn’t beautiful, it was a blessing to see the stars and brilliance of galaxies in the spotlight.
He was certain that this was the place that they should meet. After all, their angels summoned them here, though one would think she’d be here by now.
This disruption of the stars. As he looked closer, it was almost as if they were snuffed out immediately by complete darkness. Startled, he turned behind him and saw the source of the sudden darkness. “I want to thank you for your efforts in searching for the source of all this chaos,” Nyx said, “However, as I told you, you need to neutralize the resistance in Wrensdale.”
“I’m aware, god.”
“You are aware of the task, but not of the gravity as to why this is so urgent,” she scolded.
“Then what exactly is it?” Mackenzie asked.
“They are the only ones looking for and protecting that vile-- creature,” she replied, “I need you to do this immediately. Do remember our agreement and what the cost of failure is.”
Mackenzie clenched a fist and hid it behind his back, “Do you really think I’d forget? Let alone deny your order?” Mackenzie grunted, flustered.
With a warm smile, she sighed. “You have devoted yourself to the point of absolute faith,” Nyx praised, “I’m almost certain you won’t disappoint me.”
The blood began to flow through his hand once again as he relaxed. “Who is the potential leader of this resistance?”
“There are two.”
“I-- don’t follow,” Mackenzie questioned.
“There are two separate resistances, and yet with the same goal. The first one I’d like to say is a leader, is Kyle Ky'Vesh. I’ll be assuming that the other is Ametsu, one of the gods of the sinner’s place.
“You mean hell?” he asked.
“Probably?”
“You-- uh… you’re not sure?”
“Uhhh….” she grazed her finger against her chin pensively, “No…”
“Uh,” He stepped back a few, hiding his smile under his hand, “Alright?”
Squinting, the Raven stepped away, carrying a black aura around her. “Your mission begins once you return to earth… You need to recharge your artificial powers, so I’ll transfer you back to your base.” Everything began to look fuzzy the moment one of the angel’s claws grasped onto his arms. “Rest well.”
The more the strange cloudiness strengthened, the more his body weakened, his head tilting to the side. He felt... heavy…
