Chapter Twenty-Three

Screams of children, men and women slaughtered. Who’s going to cry in the middle of the night? What kind of songs will the enemy be singing? What is her next location of attack? This is what Dimitri constantly asked himself every night before he went to bed. Thankfully however, Blanche accepted his request, so mayhaps. It wouldn’t be so frightening. Having someone watching him wouldn’t be so bad.

Blanche was set up on a spare cot that Kyle gave to everyone in case of certain emergencies. His head became fog, and he could no longer move. With his eyes laying low, he finally drifted.

“You’ve been spying on me?” A familiar voice asked, “Isn’t that rude?” To Dimitri, it was confirmed: the dreams were real. “Well-- not exactly. I let you see through my eyes.”

“Why…?”

“I don’t know why,” the woman pondered, “My best guess is you were close to my sister. My my, what has she done to you?” She teased, chuckling quietly “What other terrible curses has she given you?”
