Chapter Twenty-Eight

Kyle sat by the fire of his forge: waiting. It had been six hours since he had found the note left by the kids. Since they took his locator, he couldn't follow them himself. All he could do was wait for them to return. He gave a heavy sigh. Waiting wasn't one of his strong suits. Turning his head, he watched the fire burn in his forge, the crackling flames providing him with a distraction from anxiety and boredom. He was so focused on the fire, that he didn't notice the light sound of footsteps approaching until they were halfway across the room.

Looking up, he was greeted by Sky's soft smile. He smiled in return as she pulled a chair beside him gracefully before sitting down.

"They've been gone for too long," Kyle told her, "they've got to be in trouble."
