“However, this also brings with it troubling news.” Liam spoke, readying himself for this next phase of the trial.

“Troubling? How so?” Akira asked. I most likely knew where Liam was going with this, but let him speak in his own words first.

“Well, the more uplifting news is that we now have a suspect for this case,” He explained, closing his eyes, and taking a deep breath, “The troubling news is that the last person known to have the acid was Ms. Mia.”

The room went silent yet again. All of our eyes panned over to Mia, who was simply standing at her podium, arms crossed, and eyes closed. She looked as if she had something to say, but was waiting for someone to prompt her. I took the initiative.

“Do you want to explain yourself, Mia?” I asked, trying to reenact her own usual coldness back at her, as she opened her eyes and uncrossed her arms.
