CHAPTER 17

CHAOS.

That's the only word to describe the next several minutes, utter, sheer chaos.

As soon as Baek administered the punch I was quickly up on my feet to pull Grace away from the scene and close proximity of Beom after which I rushed to pull Baek away before he could do irreparable damage to the guy.

The others were all still on their seats with stunned faces, nobody other than the four of us had moved even an inch. The song playing in the background was now over and a new song had started.

Believer by Imagine Dragons.

Oh god it just had to be this song right? Perfect. Just perfect.

Now this is what would be called a proper movie scene. The hero, the heroine and the villain oh and also the hero's best friend, can't forget myself now can I, all looking at each other while a fitting song plays in the background. I was just waiting for someone to break the silence, and then it happened. Beom, our not so friendly neighborhood asshole begging for trouble opened his big fat mouth and started spewing absolute, and utter non sense.

I couldn't understand most of it because of obvious reasons, super fast Korean, but I did get the gist of his entire rant, apparently Beom was in some delusional world thinking Grace likes him, he was asking her to come with him because now he has a business too, this will in turn also make her ties with her family better, and how he deserves her more.

Now this is all a common nonsense spewed out by one sided lovers, my hands already ached from holding onto Baek but I knew I couldn't let him go, one thing I've learnt this past month spending time with him is that he's fiercely protective and possessive of the people he loves and truly cares about. Letting him go now would mean a guaranteed face reconstruction for Beom, and I was sure that the last thing Grace would want that night after all this was Baek behind jail bars. As much as I wanted to punch the guys guts myself I had to hold back for the sake of the well being of my family, I had to be the rational one right now, I had to know when to step in and when to hold back.

All of this went flying out the window when Beom said

"이 교육받지 않은 더러운 자식을 남겨주세요. 그는 당신을받을 자격이 없습니다."

I understood what he said. I had heard something similar in a k-drama for sure. I understood exactly what he said and my blood was boiling. He just told grace to leave "this dirty, uneducated child, he doesn't deserve you"

Who does this guy think he is? What sort of a pathetic, deranged man he is to say something like this about Baek, about anyone for that matter.

There was absolute silence once again, Baek was deathly still and Grace, I saw she had tears streaming down her face.

This man was disturbing my family, this man was causing pain to my family, this man was hurting MY FAMILY.

All I saw was RED.

The silence was broken by a sickening crunch of a bone breaking. My fish had landed on Beom's face so hard, harder than even Baek's that I had cracked his nose. I didn't feel any remorse or regret. The bastard deserved it.

And then suddenly all hell broke loose.

The girl, Grace's friend let out an ear piercing scream while the other guys ran towards Beom. Beom who surprisingly had recovered from my strike came onto me with a deadly look in his eyes and suddenly had his hands wrapped around my throat, this got Baek to stir and snap out of whatever he had been in after Beom's previous statement, and he quickly pushed Beom off of me and gently pushed me towards Grace.

Oh my sweet Grace, she was in pieces, after all this supposed fight was over her, and now everyone will blame her saying it was because of her. I tried to console her, hold her trembling form as best as I could but my attention was on Baek and Beom.

The two men were struggling against Grace's other friends to reach each other but even that looked like such a joke. One guy trying to rein Beom in and it was taking three guys to rein Baek in. I must admit, even after seeing the kind of force it took to subdue Baek this Beom guy had guts to keep trying and get to him.

I had to do something, I had to stop this or we would all be kicked out or worse be spending the night behind bars in a police lockup. I did the only thing that came to my mind, took Grace and placed her right in front of Baek.

That one eye contact was all it took.

As soon as Baek saw her tear stained face and shuddering body he just cooled off and gathered her in his arms, kissing her head as she cried in his embrace.

To say Beom was jealous would be an understatement. He was practically fuming at their PDA.

I signaled Baek to take Grace away and wait for me downstairs. With Grace out of the scene I turned to Beom and looked him straight in the eyes and told him, "if you ever think about Grace or try to come near her or contact her I will make sure to inform Baek and we will together make sure your very new business gets a friendly visit from some not so friendly street fighter's".

Yeah I just pulled the same thing on him that Baek pulled on Grace's parents, well can you blame me for thinking it worked then so it'll work now? Without wasting any more minutes I left and joined Baek and Grace and we made our way back home.

I learned two things that evening. The first being that Baek can be scary if he wants to, like really scary and the second I was ready. I just knew it in my heart that I was finally ready to go into an actual fight and I was going to talk to Baek about it.

I just hope he feels the same.
