CHAPTER 42

It feels so weird being back here in India. I had sort of vowed to myself that I would never ever come back but here I am.

I spot my cousin Sheila at the arrivals gate and make my way towards her with a huge smile on my face. No matter how shitty my life was back here Sheila and I had always shared a good relationship. We always stuck together at family get-together's and weddings so we almost had a decent friendship.

"It's so good to see you again sister" I say to her, pulling her in for a tight hug.

"Likewise sis. You look better now you know? Almost like you had some glow-up out there in Korea" she says laughing a little.

"I actually did have a glow-up. I have a job there Sheila, a new life. Didn't mom tell you?"

"Uh no, *maasi didn't tell me anything of those sorts. All she said was that you went on an extended vacation of some kind. That's all."

Weird. Why would my parents still lie about my whereabouts even after I clearly told them that I was never coming back?
