CHAPTER 44

We hadn't slept a wink the rest of the night and the sun was up and shining bright now. I managed to get some coffee and eggs done without injuring myself because that's how lost I was in my thoughts and that's how stressed I was.

Waiting for Jason to come over was difficult. Baek didn't eat, he didn't drink, he was still sitting in the same spot as last night not even having changed his clothes despite my constant begging.

I think more than anything else the wait game was affecting him. Being in the dark, not knowing what was happening out there, completely dependent on a stranger to make it here on time and help us. I knew he wanted to be out there himself searching for Grace and beating up any of Henry's men that came in his way.

Lt. Robins came over within the next few hours just like he promised on the phone call. He was in his dress blues. He was tall, like maybe 6'3", broad and well built with deep blue eyes and salt and pepper hair.
