How we began

The sun shone down on the bustling alley which was full of wizards and witches of all ages. Some carrying school supplies or a cold treat to soothe them from the hot temperature. If you looked closely, no not at the children smiling up at their parents or the young teens laughing with their friends but at a small boy following a tall, stern wizard with wonder-filled eyes and a monotone look.

He had dark brown hair neatly swept into a side part, chocolate brown eyes glowing with the wonder and curiosity all the children his age held. He had a worn-out jacket along with a white button-down and shorts. He had long socks on with a pair of leather shoes which were discolored in a couple of places. All in all from afar one could tell he was not showered in money but if you looked at the way he walked and held the surrounding aura, you would think he's of a noble family and was raised to behave as such.

The boy's name was Tom Marvolo Riddle and his backstory was simple but lonely. He was an orphan who lived in Wools orphanage and all his life the only thing he knew was, one, died after leaving him at the orphanage when he was just a baby. Two, he was different. Tom was different because he could make things happen when he was angry or afraid or sad. He could talk to snakes and control them as he desired. He could do extraordinary things in both unique ways and cruel ways.

Tom was heading towards Ollivander's to get a new wand from the small amount of money he was given by the ministry but it was the most he had ever seen in his life. He followed after his designated watcher who showed him where things were, how to get to them, etc. but the man looked as though he would rather jump off a bridge. They soon arrived at the shop and the watcher stood outside as Tom went inside the building. When he entered the shop he saw a girl there.

She had long black hair that was in beach waves but surrounding her face like a lion's mane. She had sparkling brown eyes that held innocence and curiosity much like his. She was tall almost taller than Tom, and she was unlike other girls. Unlike other girls, she had baby fat which for example was present in her full rosy cheeks. She had a light tan and a big cheerful smile on her lips. From the looks of it, she had also come to get her first wand. Tom walked up to the counter as Olivander handed her another wand.

" Try this one now," Olivander stated as he turned to look at Tom. He smiled at him and went to say something when a glass lamp shattered followed by a sheepish smile from the girl.

" Sorry, Mr.Olivander but I don't think that's the one." She cheerfully said as Olivander went into the back. She turned to Tom and stuck out her hand which he gently shook.

" Hi, my name is Maria Rowen and I'm going to Hogwarts for the first time. What's your name?" She questioned with curiosity. Tom opened his mouth to reply but Olivander had already returned with two wands. He handed Maria hers then hesitantly handed Tom his. When both young wizards picked up their wands they felt different feelings course through them. Tom felt power and might while Maria felt joy and love from hers. Olivander nodded at the two in satisfaction and took the wands back to pack them up. Maria once again turned to face him with a big smile that he was tempted to return.

" So what is your name? " She questioned once more.

" Tom Marvolo Riddle." He replied stoically which she replied to with a grin. ' She sure does smile a lot' Tom thought to himself. Both children thanked the elderly wizard as he handed them their packed wands. They both slipped out of the shop as Maria asked all sorts of questions and Tom just quietly replied to them. Tom looked around for his watcher but saw him sitting in the restaurant across the street and sighed. Maria followed his line of sight and met the sight with a frown. She saw Toms's displeased face and grabbed his arm dragging him to the nearest store which was for quidditch supplies. She pressed her face into the window and stared at the latest Nimbus with a look of awe.

" I can't wait till the second year when we get to bring a broom and play Quidditch." Maria excitedly said, and he gave her a look of confusion. What was this quidditch she was talking about? Maria noticed this look of confusion and her jaw dropped.

" YOU DON't KNOW WHAT QUIDDITCH IS?!!!" Maria screamed earning the pair turned heads and glares. Tom rose his eyebrow at the reaction as Maria's face twisted into several emotions. Her face finally rested on joy as she grinned and dragged him into the store. She pointed at different balls and uniforms and all types of things but Tom wasn't listening. He instead chose to observe her and the way she did things. He observed how she spoke with warmth and joy, the way her eyes sparkled with different emotions, and how you could easily tell her secrets simply by looking into them. He watched the way she bounced around energetically and spoke with confidence. ' hmm, ' he thought to himself ' what an interesting girl'. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt her dragging him outside the shop and back into the hot sun. She giggled at the way he scowled up at the sun and dragged him into another explaining who different famous wizards and witches were. They spent a couple more hours going from shop to shop and talking to their heart's content. (Even though Maria did most of the talking) Thus began a beautiful friendship which seemed that it would stay that way, but it doesn't. Things change, and they change fast.
