Chapter 6: The Lady and the Gentleman

MIRASOL MCCAIN

After the breakfast in the hall, I immediately excused myself to everyone to change my yellow dress. Hattie followed me and she was trying to apologize while she's walking after me.

"My apologies, Lady Mirasol. It was just my first time, I thought I got the right dress for you, but I have mistaken." She gasped an air.

I take the grand staircase to get on the next floor, "That's not a problem, Hattie." I answered. "In fact, I enjoyed wearing this dress, it's too comfortable to me and has a really nice smell. Now, what I was worried about is you getting scolded by Webster, which is I don't like because you don't know that simple rule."

"He's mad because he oriented me, but I was too distracted that time. I don't have an idea what he will do to me, Lady Mirasol."

I turned my head to her to speak, "He will do exactly nothing to you, I promise."

I was glad that I alleviate the uneasiness on her face before we continued in my bed chamber. Once we get inside, she immediately searched for replacement of my yellow dress. She got a silver maxi dress, which is similar to the design of this yellow dress.

I changed as fast as I could, I also brushed my hair again before I settled on my final look.

Hattie was calm, she feels better now. I told her that I will go in the hall by myself where all the people were sitting down at the moment.

She remains in my chamber, fixing the yellow dress and my yesterday clothes in the right place. I left her there while I began walking alone on the hallway. At this time, I forgot that I was rushing when I see frames of picture of I think the ancestors of Tisdale.

I walked towards the frame, "Neithhotep," I read the name that engraved on the frame itself. I am sure that the name belongs to the ancestor of Tisdale. There were also a stated circa on what year and time he exists.

The second big frame on the wall was for Lord Narmer, Lord Wigbert and the Lord bequeathed his land on current Lord of North, which is the late Stourton. Even I don't know them personally, I can see how pleasant their faces were.

And I also see the outcome of their Castle in the present time that turns out beautiful and breathe taking.

I just realized that the whole wall does not have any woman in power. What does this mean?

I was in the middle of reading the engraved history of these diseased Lords, when I accidentally bumped into something that causes a breaking sounds. I was stunned for also a minute before I recognized that there's someone standing afar from me.

What made stopped for a moment is the look of this guy who were staring back at me. "Were you hurt?" He asked me after he closed the door beside him.

I break the stares as I look down to touch the broken vase, but the man decided to approach me and says, "No, don't touch it."

I was lucky because he stopped my hand from touching the shred. "There's a lot of servants to clean this, so you don't have to worry about it. Besides, this vase is not important." He continued, looking at me like I was the only he could see in the entire place.

I awkwardly nodded, "I am sorry for this."

You must be He then nodded, accepting my apologies. He holds my hand to help me to get up. I was stunned of how tall he is. That's when I realized that he belongs to this castle because of his black and silver tunic.

Soon he releases my hand and I was able to step backward to lessen the proximity of our bodies. "What are you doing here, my Lady?" he asked, smiling.

My heart pounds as if it would scape my ribs in any moment. "I…" I looked at his face—his beautiful face and stunning ash gray color of hair. "I am just looking at the pictures of North's ancestors." I was able to answer when I found a little courage in me.

"You must be one of our guests." His eyes disappear within his lids as he smiled at me. He's pleasing, his look is one you would want to stare for a day.

"Yes,"

"I think we're heading to the same place, so let's go?"

"In the great chamber, right?" I just want to confirm.

He nodded, "Yes."

I followed this guy walking before me. I am sure that he belongs to this Kingdom that's why he's wearing the same color of their flag and he is walking with chin up like how Lord Theodore walks. In just a few minutes, we're just in silence, and we were able to stopped in front of the double door of the great chamber.

He looks at me first; he offers his arms that I could cling on. I accept it with a smile. When I was hooking on his arms, Webster opened the door that gets all the guests' and Lord's attention. They stopped doing something on the table and their eyes were finned to both of us.

I bow my head when I saw Lord Theodore sitting on his own chair. He motioned his hand for us to take our seats.

The guy beside me pull the chair I was about to sit on as an act of chivalry. Amanda is smiling at me, while Georgia is staring at the guy beside me. Her stare is now different than she usually does, maybe she found this guy handsome as what I have seen him, too.

"It's been a long week, my Lord." He bowed his head, too, as he talks to Lord Theodore.

"How are you? And where is your sister?" The Lord asked him.

I pat Orion's arm when I get confused, "What is his name?"

"Wait until the Lord introduce them." He answered.

I understand Orion so I continued listening their conversation. "She's still in her bed chamber, in any moment she will get in here. And about the journey back here is quite challenging as we welcomed with blizzard."

"I am glad you're both safe,"

"Yes, my Lord."

They are really formal; and I wonder how things work inside this castle. It's just so unusual to me even I can barely remember anything about me. It just happened that I only remembered was my name.

After several talks, Webster opened again the door as the expected attendant appeared in behind the door. She's wearing a black and silver cape dress that made her stunningly beautiful. Also, her crimson hair adds the elegance of her total look. She's really beautiful.

"Welcome, my Lady." Said Webster.

The lady continued to walked until she was able to approached near the Lord. "I am glad to see you again, my Lord." She has low tune of voice near from being masculine, but she's really a lady.

Lord Theodore just smiled. And both the lady and the gentleman sit beside the Lord.

The servants served wine and some fruits on the table while we're all facing each other. I am excited to know what Lord Theodore was about to say. And I am so curious about the names of these two attendants.

"I am so happy that we're all completed on the table," he started. "My guests, my nephew and my niece… I am the Lord who wants to be the bridge for you to know each other."

Lord Theodore look at Georgia with no particular reason. "My guests, Webster will give you a scroll. Because of one you can't remember herself and the scroll will tell you who you are and how you were able to woke up in the middle of the maze."

Webster started to give the scroll one by one. Orion rolled it up as he received his scroll, while I am being skeptical if I would open it or not. Because as what I am feeling right now, I am still not ready to know myself even I am so eager to know me.

I put my scroll on the table beside the red wine that I haven't touched yet, and I patted Orion again to ask what's something written on his scroll.

For the first minute he didn't answer me because he's busy reading his scroll. I don't know what's written there, but I am really curious about him. The only thing I know about his is, he's a serf who reads a lot of history books.

"Lady Mirasol, you can open it now." The guy I was with later told me that I can open my scroll. But I just stare at him, and I wander my eyes to all of my co-guests. They were all reading silently while I wasn't summoned the courage that I have been hiding inside me.

I was about to say something when he continued speaking, "I can open this for you, my Lady." He said again, narrowing his eyes as he smiles.

"No, thank you. I can open it myself." I said, holding my scroll again.

I slowly rolled it up. What I saw first is my portrait and name on the paper. Followed by my age and where I live. I started to read all the words written on the paper, and little by little I comprehend.

I regretted that moment.

My eyes suddenly went to Lord Theodore, who also looking at me. "My parents sold me and you bought me?"

He didn't nod nor react even I was demanding an answer to my question. "My parents sold me, too." Amanda.

Soon Georgia and Jacques revealed us that they are also sold by their parents. While Amadeus was a former knight that decided to join the Northern Land and Orion, of course, is a serf that chooses to risked his life just to get in this castle.

I was feeling cold while Lord Theodore was speaking, and telling our mission to be done here. I can't understand anything right now because of what I have read.

Until the only words that absorbs my mind is the names of the two attendants. "Before I dismiss you again, I'd like you to know my niece…" he spread his hand to the lady with a low tone of voice that also wearing a black and silver cape dress. "Lady Eureka Tisdale,"

The lady bows her head as his name mentioned by the Lord.

"And this Lord Hawkins Tisdale, my nephew." He introduced the guy I met on the hallway.

Lord Hawkins stood up, bow his head and smile to all of us. But I didn't expect that he will offer his hand to me. I just stare at his spread hand for a second before I put my hand on his palm.

I wonder what he will do, until I found him kissing the back of my palm. "Nice meeting you, my Lady." He smiled beautifully.
