Chapter 34 : Birthday With The Ex

...two of his friends were having birthdays this week...

Type is not the kind of person who swipes Facebook a lot, not to mention his friends' birthdays on purpose, because usually many of his friends will throw birthday parties in advance, so he will send birthday wishes if he meets them any time, but if he doesn't get a chance to meet them, his friends will never blame him for forgetting their birthday.

This time, somehow, Type suddenly remembered to set up an email reminder that would automatically alert the system whenever someone had a birthday this week.

Thara Kirigun

"What?" Type was one hundred percent sure he only knew one person named Tharn, and although he didn't want to admit it was his boyfriend, he still knew his real name and last name.

Thara Kirigun

"What do you call yourself, Thara properly?" Type's yelp made Tharn, who was sitting on the couch rubbing a drumstick, turn his head, and Type shook his head slowly, looking down at the cue page again.

He kept reassuring himself in his mind that he didn't know and that Tharn wasn't like those girls who made a fuss and threw a fit if their boyfriends forgot his birthday. But actually people like Type who don't care about the details, also knows that a boyfriend's birthday is an important day that no normal person would forget.

Usually female friends treat them to dinner for their birthday, not to mention their boyfriend, who he must do something for him on his birthday.

Type looked over at Tharn on the couch, who had the TV on but his mind on his drumsticks, and Type thought about the event next month....

Type suddenly felt that there was nothing more unlucky than letting Tharn know what he had once done to celebrate his birthday, how excited he had been, how he had picked out presents...it was scary just thinking about it.

The worst part is that if he doesn't get this right yourself, it's going to be at least as good as what Tharn had prepared for him anyway. Type should be angry if he hadn't done it himself.

"Ai'Tharn, are you going to be free before school starts?"

It was four days before his birthday. And with school starting, it's only one day away.

"Hmm." Hearing Type's question, Tharn looked up at him and resumed studying his instrument again.

"Oh, I see."

"Oh." Tharn smiled, a smile that gave Type a weird feeling.

'Can you pretend you didn't know that I didn't know until now that you have a birthday in four days' Type thought in his mind.

Tharn smiled as he rubbed his chin and shook his head.

"But I'm only free during the day, and I'm going home in the evening."

"Home?" Type asked with a puzzled face, an expression that made Tharn want to laugh, as if something had come into his mind.

"That's the way my mom thinks, we can celebrate with whoever we want on our birthday, but that evening is definitely reserved for family and we have to go home and celebrate our birthday with our family." Tharn explained. This made Type, whose birthday ended up on the days he was so busy with the start of school that he didn't even go home to see his parents, cringe.

"What if you have a lover?" Type doesn't ask this because he has identified himself as his boyfriend, it was just to test the waters of how many boyfriends Tharn's had and whether or not he celebrates his birthday with them each year.

The question reminded Tharn of his mother's answer.

"If the boyfriend wants to celebrate together, the mother agrees to let him come, but if the boyfriend complains to me that he feels as if he's not important enough to spend my birthday alone with me, the mother will let me respond like this, saying that the son's birth was a difficult day for the mother and that the mother is the one who experiences the most pain, so the mother is the one who has the right to choose who to say her son spends his birthday with her son, not the girl herself. My mother also said, "If your boyfriend is going to make a scene because of this, reply it back to him like this: how can someone who doesn't even love his family love anyone else?"

Type got a little bogged down, Tharn continued.

"My mom's own birthday is the same way, her grandparents must be the most important people when she has a birthday, not her husband and kids." Tharn moved over to sit next to him as Type hurriedly covered the computer screen, never letting him know he knew his birthday because the Facebook prompted him.

"So, to my house?"

"Huh?" Tharn's bold invitation caught Type off guard, and he looked at him in bewilderment, so Tharn asked again.

"Going to my house for my birthday?"

Type looked at the smiling man in front of him, his expression was not like he was inviting his boyfriend to his house.

Sorry, if you're seeing someone else, take him home and celebrate your birthday together...your mom might have said that, but have you forgotten that I'm a guy!

"Did you forget....?"

"Come to my house!"

"Huh?" Type was going to freak out, staring at the smiling man in front of him.

"My family all know I am gay and I told them about it in my senior year." Tharn still thought it was since he knew his concerns, and as soon as the words were out of his mouth, Type just lay straight down on the bed and didn't move.

"Get up, there's more to say, we have to get things straight."

"I'm done, just come back to my house with me for your birthday and consider it a birthday present for me."

Type's answers were all written on his face, and he threw the fiddling pillow far away from his hands and pushed the table where the computer had been placed (ready to kick him out of bed).

Then sat directly across Tharn with his hands around his neck.

"It's not over Ai'Tharn, I'm not going to your house!"

"Just walking into your house and say I'm your boyfriend, I can't do it! Your mother said it's okay to bring lovers, not a male sidekick."

"It's a boyfriend, not a male sidekick." Despite Tharn's correction, it was all the same for Type.

"Just say what gift you want, I'm not coming to your house anyway." Type's tone was non-negotiable, which made Tharn, who was lying in bed, stifle a sigh.

"I've just said what gift I want."

"What did you just say? I've been here the whole time and didn't hear you." He hadn't said what he wanted for his birthday since he'd started this conversation, and had to act like he was tired of it. I really don't know what's going on.

"Said it, but you didn't listen to me."

"Hey, don't be immature." Tharn was about to say something else when he was directly interrupted by Type, who brought his face closer to Tharn...

Suddenly Tharn leaned his body forward and kissed Type directly on the mouth.

"Hey, it hurts." Type was a little hurt by his bumpy nose and couldn't help but cuss. But there was a smile on Tharn's face.

"What I want, it's you!"

"Want me to get straight to the point!" This time Type was able to face his sexual desires head on, and the two of them wiped their guns and went off on a might screw few hours.....

As the two indulged in a love game, Type finally figured out what gift to give Tharn.

I'm sure he'll love it, hehe hehe.

"It's Ai'Tharn's birthday and you're with us, is that okay?" Type's good friend Techno asked.

On Tharn's birthday, the most "noble" thing Type did as a boyfriend was to drive him home to celebrate his birthday while he hung out with his high school classmates, so Techno was so shocked to learn about it that he looked at Type with a crazy look.

Boyfriend's birthday, yet here you are hanging out with friends?

"He's going home! Do you want me to go back with him? Do you have any brains Ai'No?" Type replied unkindly, grimacing, Techno didn't reckon with him, he was scratching his head and turning to ask his other two friends to order.

"Not really, but really, what are you going to do about your feen's birthday?"

"What? What were you talking about? Who's got a feen?" Aom turned her face away in a gossipy manner and was immediately snapped back by Type.

"You've got a back ear, haven't you? Who just said the word 'feen'?"

"But I just heard it too." Tim seconded. So Type had to raise his finger to his mouth and say.

"There must be a lot of feens for an articulate guy like me."

"Well, that's right." Aom and Tim then lowered their heads again to continue ordering, and Type sneaked under the table and kicked Techno's foot, alerting him.

"You talk too much."

Type's words puzzled Techno, he didn't know why Type was keeping it from them. In fact, Techno has always wondered why Type would date a guy he's always hated. But he actually knew that Tharn was a good man, and the two had slowly melted the ice between them by spending time together overnight. But why does Type look the same when he has a boyfriend?

So has Type cured his homophobia yet?

"So have you figured out what to get him for his birthday?" Techno asked curiously, a small voice in his ear. Brains brainstormed the scenario of them in bed.

Wait a minute! I still don't know which of them is top and which is on the bottom!

Techno shot Type a skeptical look, guessing whether he was the one on top or bottom, then stared at him again with a half-suspicious look.

"Ai'Hiaa! What are you doing that again?"

"I want to know...forget it, you don't want to hear it."

Techno was able to guess word for word the message that Type's current expression conveyed, and he must have been saying: You boy must have those naught things in bed in your head. So he sensibly buried his doubts within. Because he knew Type would kill him if he asked.

Actually, this is also able to launch, Type should be affected, it seems so, but Tharn he is gay, then he should be underneath. But how could Tharn possibly want to be the one on the bottom there? So who's on top and who's on the bottom? Alas, what a head-scratcher these two are.

Techno has more and more scraps thoughts in his head, and it's his good friend's bedtime things anyway! He wasn't going to give up his back lightly.

After ordering, Techno stopped thinking and turned to chat with two other friends, and several more would come over for dinner later, but apparently there's more fun for Type than chatting with friends - playing with his phone.

Although it's normal for a party of ten people to play with their phones, as soon as the food is served, everyone will be hungry for food and will be in a war for food. Only Type alone was still staring at the phone screen.

Seeing the phone screen light up, Techno picked up the phone and looked at Facebook. He wanted to see what was so good-looking that Type couldn't even eat a meal.

Happy birthday, brother!

Mom and Dad have a big gift for you this birthday.

So I don't have to give it to you!

Whatever you do, you'll be satisfied.

Love you!

"Ai'Hiaa!"

Techno suddenly jumped up, and although Tharn wasn't marked in this post, it did concern him, especially when he saw the picture of the Lexus Center purchase contract, Techno was so shocked that his eyes fell out, and he stared at the screen, not wanting to believe his eyes.

"What's wrong with you again?" Type was taken aback and turned his head to ask.

"Type, is the Tharn family rich? His parents bought him a Lexus for his birthday! This is a Lexus, not an Alto, Chery QQ, it cost at least a few hundred thousand."

"All I know is that his dad is the head of the company, but he says it's only a small company, but his family should be rich too, because his brother usually drives an Audi."

"Then why does he still live in an apartment on campus?" Techno went on to ask if the family was so rich that they would live in an apartment outside, so it would be easier to go anywhere.

"He said he's going to spend a lot of time playing music and living closer to campus will save time to and from the music room."

"Wow, that's nice, the family has money and sociable. You're lucky to have met such a nice boy, do you know that yourself?" Techno was a little excited, imagine if Tharn was straight, the girls chasing him would be in a long line at the school gates, and wondering why he planted himself with his friend.

"Why am I lucky, to put it mildly it was Tharn himself who was lucky, would he have met me if it hadn't been for a coincidence to go to my dorm with his friend for drinks?" Type's answer left the other two friends feel puzzled, and they started asking again, Type hated to tear himself up for making the issue continue.

"Just...lucky to have a rich friend!"

"Are you stupid? Your friend has money, it's his and not yours, what's in it for you? I don't want to have a rich friend, because I'm nothing compared to him." Team crackled and smoothly shoved Aom's cut of meat straight into his mouth.

"Ai'Hiaa Ai'Team, it's mine!" Aom complained.

"Who told you to be so slow?" Team winked his eyebrows and turned to Type.

"I had a bit of an impression of this Tharn, he is good-looking and good-natured, still studied music, drove everywhere he went, and must have drifted in and out of the girls' piles in the usual way. Don't you find it awkward and hard to live with him?" Techno knew that Team meant no harm and he just asked this based on his impression of Tharn. He saw a frowning Type aside look at the friend.

"No, but I don't like it when you say that about him."

Techno saw his good friend's sad eyes, he felt weirded out by it.

"I don't like you talking about him like that, yes, he is handsome and has money at home, but so what? Being spoken to by you it seems as if all of these are his faults, and the fact that I am friend with him is because of him as a person, not because his parents are rich, Ai'Team you better filter what you say and watch your mouth"

Wow, what's going on?

Techno didn't expect that, just for a moment, he was still talking about Tharn's Type behind his back and defending him at the moment.

That's right! It's true, Type is defending Tharn!

"Well, Type you calm down, I just said a little too much, don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to bad mouth someone, see how you're still in a hurry to defend him?"

Type's serious expression made the table very awkward, and Techno immediately changed the subject.

"So when exactly is this Maem kid coming?" That's when Aom picked up right away as well, both trying to deflect the conversation and get everyone out of the awkwardness of what had just happened, though no one knew exactly what Type was so angry about.

"Tharn, happy birthday to you!"

"Nineteen years old oh, going to grow up to be a big brother."

"Not true, Brother Thorn looks much older than Brother Tharn."

"How can you say that about your brother?"

In the dining room, the family was celebrating their second son's birthday. A birthday cake was placed in the middle of the table, an essential part of a birthday, and Tharn's birthday just happened to give the cake-loving mom an excuse to make a cake, and not only that, she would force everyone to eat it.

"Today is Brother Tharn's special day oh!" The youngest sister said, which made Thorn a little jealous.

"How come I don't see you so attentive when it my birthday,"

"That's because brother you're old enough to be the oldest child in the family anyway." She replied with a smile, and Thorn gestured to throw her out, causing her to run away screaming, laughter echoing through the house.

"This, then tired mom again this year, worked so hard to make me a cake."

"Yikes, who said I was tired mom? When I can make it to your 40th birthday."

"So you don't want to retire?" Dad joked. The eyes of the wife who was cutting the cake immediately swept over.

"I see you don't want to eat the food!"

"No, I didn't say that. Ow, Tharn, it's your birthday, you eat first." The blood sugar was getting high and the father (because the wife was frantically making sweets) immediately threw such an important task as eating the cake to the second son, and Tharn carefully took the plate containing the cake, saw the filling inside and asked.

"Do you make chocolate cake this year?"

"Yeah, don't you like chocolate? At first I was hesitant between the orange flavored cake or the chocolate cake, and later thought you would prefer chocolate." Hearing his mother's reply, Tharn first laughed and then couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Yeah yeah yeah, I like chocolate."

Tharn replied, the sweet taste entering his mouth and making Tharn think of the man who wouldn't come.

In fact, what he wanted most for his birthday was for Type to come home with him today!

Expectations are too high, Tharn told himself.

This way, Tharn gives her all the praise, complimenting his mother on how good her cakes are, and those praises were the instant cure for her tiring cake making.

"Later, Mom will pack me a piece to take away, I'll bring it to my roommate." Tharn said to his mother.

"That said, I haven't met your roommate yet. How's it going? Have you seen the new apartment? Is everything in place? Is there anything Mom can do to help?" Mom asked with some concern that she hadn't gone to help her child with the apartment like other moms did, knowing that her son was living with a roommate and worried that she was going to cause them trouble and make them feel uncomfortable.

"It's okay, Mom, I can handle it myself, I went through it yesterday and bought a fridge and microwave."

"But mommy wants to meet your friends too...."

"Hello, everyone!"

"Brother San!"

Tharn and Mom hadn't finished chatting when they heard a greeting coming from the door, and the family looked over to the door in unison to see the family's regulars.

The man who everyone was familiar with wasn't coming in through the front door, he was coming in through the back door and going around to the front, which caused Thorn to shake his head helplessly.

"I'd say you're too much of an outsider, Ai'San." San sniffed and smiled, then put his hands together to greet the mom and dad, then went on to say hello to his siblings' friends.

Then turned to Tharn and said, "Nong Tharn, happy birthday!"

San, who was a good friend of Thorn's, was such a great guy that Tharn admired him for a long time, and it was San who helped him communicate with his parents when Tharn wanted to study music as a freshman, too.

"Thank you! Brother San," Tharn offered him in gratitude. Seeing him busy greeting the whole family, Thorn couldn't help but tease him.

"You really come every year!"

"Just stopped by and remembered it was Tharn's birthday, so came in to congratulate and see everyone." San replied with a face that didn't pale, the rhetoric flowing like an endorsement.

"You've been using this as an excuse for four years, Salat, can you change it up?"

"My name is Salan, not Salat," San's mind quickly recalled if he had offended him somewhere yesterday and why he was always picking on him today. But for Thorn, who knew that event from four or five years ago, he could only sigh silently in his heart.

"Come on, you know, now Nong Tharn and I are like brothers."

"I already have one brother and a sister in my family, where did you come from?" Thorn grinned at him with dislike, and San said he couldn't help but turn to the elders in the family.

"Auntie, look Thorn he's going rushing me again."

"Thorn, look how you talk, San he comes when he misses your brother, you have to thank him, how can you rush him away, San is like a child in our family, he can come whenever he wants." Thorn laughed darkly in his heart, he knew this friend of his all too well, and he was actually doing it by pretending to be pathetic here now to gain his mother's sympathy when he saw the displeasure in his expression.

Tharn knew that if he had met with Brother San at another time, Brother Thorn would not have reacted this way, as long as it wasn't on a birthday, and he remembered that Brother Thorn had spoken to him....

"San doesn't look like he's let go of things between you, do you see why this brother's friend would give his brother a birthday present every year?"

Tharn also knew his brother was worried about him because what had happened between them a few years ago was a little heavy, but he and Brother San were over long ago, over without any need to starting reminiscing about it.

"Nah! It's a gift from me." Seeing that Thorn's attention wasn't on himself, San immediately pulled out his own carefully prepared gift, which left Tharn a little embarrassed and stumped.

"Brother San, there's actually no need to give me a gift every year."

"So is this a rejection of me? Alas, how I miss 14-year-old Tharn."

"Thanks to Brother San for the gift." Before he could finish, Tharn immediately accepted San's gift, for the man in front of him was someone who was genuinely good to him. Besides, one can't help but admit that if a little trick of his own actions could make Type to be his boyfriend, the man in front of one's eyes, had hundreds of times the tricks to force him to make him accept a birthday present.

"It would be nice to stop mentioning the 14-year-old thing."

"Huh, why? That's when you came to me." San raised his hand for a comparison, causing the man in front of him, who had once been shorter than him, to shake his head straight.

"But now I'm almost as tall as Brother San."

As for San being 190cm tall and Tharn being 183cm, it really doesn't seem like a big difference.

"Yeah, and not that cute Tharn anymore, now it's the handsome Tharn, all catching up to me."

"I think my brother is much better looking than you." Thorn shouted at San, who laughed after hearing it and looked at Tharn with fiery eyes.

"Happy birthday, Nong Tharn."

"It's the only day San calls Tharn like he did when he was a kid, only on the day of his birthday."

All Tharn could do was smile.

At the same time, Type, who had just returned to his dormitory, opened his Facebook page right after showering and scrubbing his hair, and clicked into his boyfriend's page as soon as he went online, just to see the birthday photo he posted.

The people in the photos Type knew, only one was unknown.

"Aren't there three siblings in the Tharn family? Who is this man? Relative?"

Type stared dumbfounded at the picture with the Great Wall of China in the background, giving a look of disgust that he hadn't seen on the man.

The man didn't look like he had Western blood, he had firm eyes, good looks, and a height that looked about the same as Tharn, but a little taller.

He was conspicuous in the picture, though, but not so much that Type thought about it, and he went on flipping through the pictures Tharn had sent. Then picked up the phone, opened LINE and simply typed three letters.

[...HBD...]

He's still as stiff-tongued as ever.

Ding, a message came back.

[... Won't you even give me your blessing...?]

Tharn replied in a few second, as if he had been waiting for his message, and Type can't help but sneer his mouth.

[...it's a good thing I didn't forget...]

Despite this reply, Type's eyes couldn't help but look into the drawer where the gifts had been prepared, and he remembered the events of the evening.

His dad gave him a car and this is what I gave him? Wouldn't that be a little shabby? Well, that's all I can do financially, so it's all in my mind anyway.

[...Give me your blessing...]

"He is really looking for a fight!" Type didn't find Tharn's act of asking for a blessing cute at all, on the contrary, he even found it a little annoying.

[...HBD...]

Type sent again, this time the other party was quiet for a long time without a reply, although the screen had long since shown the text was read. After a long time, the other side returned two letters.

[...GN (goodnight)...]

"Ai'Hiaa, you want to have war on me?"

Ding! Ding!

"Goodnight isn't it? I had to call you."

"Says?"

Tharn said only one word, and Type immediately returned.

"Long life."

The caller on the other end said.

[GN!]

Type knew that if he didn't say Happy Birthday in its entirety, Tharn would surely just repeat it and drive him to bed, but he replied anyway.

"Long life!"

[GN!]

"Long life!"

[GN!]

"Hey, Ai'Tharn, Ai'Hiaa are you doing?"

"OK, happy birthday to you, all right? Satisfied?" If he didn't stop, Type knew that Tharn would have to have extreme endurance, as he himself would surely be yelling at him over the phone. However, Type heard laughter coming from the other end of the phone.

[You know what? I have been waiting for your blessing, just for you alone].

Type was stunned and just said hurriedly.

"Goodnight" hung up the phone because his heart was...beating so hard right now.

He just said that he was waiting for his birthday wishes, so much so that he was so happy, Type secretly jeered at himself inwardly.

"Go to sleep, sleep, Ai'Tharn's away, I can hog a big bed by myself tonight."

Although saying so, Type secretly felt in his heart that without Tharn, this bed was a bit empty for himself....
