Chapter Three

"Can we please go visit Cass?" Asked Raphael. "Sure but I want to visit Chris as well too", said Caroline. They walked to Cass's house and knocked on the door. A woman answered the door. "Hello?" Asked the woman. "Is Cass home?" Asked Caroline. The woman nodded. "Can she come outside?" Asked Raphael. "Of course, I'll tell her to come here. "Cass, come here! Some kids want to see you!" Said the woman. Cass came outside. "Hi. Wait a minute. Caroline and Raphael?! No way! How are y'all?" Asked Cass. "We're good", said Caroline. Cass smiled and looked at Raphael. "How are you, Raphael?" Asked Cass. Raphael blushed. "I'm fine", stuttered Raphael. "Do you guys want to go to the park?" Asked Caroline. Cass looked at Caroline. "Sure", said Cass. They all went to the park and stood by the playgrounds. A girl who was wearing a cat headband walked up to Caroline. "Caroline, is that you?" Asked the girl. "Uh yeah that's me", said Caroline. The girl smiled. "Remember me?" Asked the girl. "No, I don't recall", said Caroline. The girl sighed and looked at the ground. "It's Chris but I now go by Christina. My pronouns are she/her", said Christina. "Christina?!" Asked Caroline. Caroline hugged Christina. "I am so sorry. I just moved back here", said Caroline.

"It's okay. I would like you to meet a friend of mine", said Christina. Her and Caroline ran to a short girl. "Cynthia, meet my bestie Caroline", said Christina. "Oh my god. I love your little blonde streak. Did you dye it?" Asked Cynthia as she touched Caroline's hair streak. Caroline laughed. "Funny you should ask but I actually didn't dye. I just somehow woke up and I saw that streak of mine hahahaha", said Caroline. Christina and Cynthia laughed. Meanwhile by the playground, Raphael was nervous. "So are you guys placed in foster care?" Asked Cass. "Yes and I honestly hate it there", said Raphael. Cass chuckled. "You're such a mood", said Cass. "I am?" Asked Raphael. Cass smiled. "You haven't changed since we first met", said Cass. Caroline came back. "Raphael, let's go home", said Caroline. "Bye", said Cass. Raphael waved at Cass. Caroline and Raphael walked back to their house and saw Ms. Andersen reading Theodore a story, "Hello Ms. Andersen. Whatcha reading?" Asked Caroline. "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", whispered Ms. Andersen. Raphael wanted to sit on his porch and look at the sky. He pulled out a picture of Cass and him when they were little.

A girl who was his neighbor stared at him from her porch. The girl walked to his porch and stared at him. "Hello Raphael Patterson with a II", said the girl in a monotone voice. Raphael was shocked. "How do you know my name?" Asked Raphael. "I can't tell you, it's a secret", said the girl. Raphael tried to ignore her but she said something shocking. "The picture you're holding has a picture of Cass Reid and you when you guys were kids, approximately ten years ago", said the girl. Raphael went inside and slammed the door. The girl shrugged and went in her house. At night, Caroline and Raphael laid in the beds. They brushed their teeth and went to bed.
